Moon & Shamus

 Our first Egyptian Pharaoh Hound came and joined The Fort on Tuesday. Moon is 1 year old and weighs 38 pounds. She did exceptionally well on her first day and hit it off with one of our regulars, Max . We were able to capture Moon and Max playing as they galloped around our large roll, looking majestic as can be.  

 One of the first things we noticed about Moon was her super tall, pointy ears. Did you know that Egyptian Pharaoh's ears are all natural? There is no clipping involved like other breeds such as the Doberman Pinscher.Sometimes breeders will use tape to help hold up a floppy ear when the puppy matures. Take a look at the clip below to see Moon playing with her new buddy.

 

 Check out this cutie, Shamus. Shamus came in this morning bright and early, ready to see what The Fort is all about, and meet his new daycare buddies in our Small Dog Program. He is an eight year old, twenty-one pound King Charles Spaniel. Once it was time for us to start throwing our balls around with the pups, Shamus got very curious and instantly went over to inspect these new, exciting toys. 

 Moon and Shamus are both welcome to come back any time they want.

| Vivacious Monday |

        Happy Monday, I hope that everyone's Monday is off to a good start. The dogs at Fort Fido are enjoying their time with the pack today while their owners are away. The day should be a nice, warm, and comfy one today at a high of 72 degrees Fahrenheit. While out-and-about with your dog today make sure to keep them hydrated in this warm weather. During their stay at The Fort the pups are hard at play, take a look at some of the videos below.

Two new dogs!

Yesterday we met with the happy and energy-filled Daisey. She is a nine month old, forty-eight pound, Tan and White Colored Pitbull Terrier. Daisey was all "wiggles and wags" as she entered into The Fort's Big Roll. She is a very athletic canine, that is here to socialize and burn off some excess energy... And that's exactly what she did! Daisey was quick to befriend the other dogs, she made playmates effortlessly. Daisey should prove to be a wonderful addition to our Big Roll Pack. She did an outstanding job and we plan to see her more!

This morning, we were up bright and early to Assess Maxx. He is an irresistibly-cute, three month old, twenty-one pound, English Bulldog. This little fella is going to grow up to be one big and strong canine, but for now, he's just a small pup. Maxx is here to hone his canine-communication skills and have a good time exercising. To ease him into the joint, we had Maxx start out in our Medium Roll Play Area. Once inside, he explored eagerly, knowing he'd be meeting with some other canines soon. After letting him get his bearings, we had Maxx meet up with pack members Stella and Max (Mue). That combination of dogs proved to be just perfect for Maxx. They began to wrestle play within minutes of meeting one another. Given strong leadership, time, and consistency, Maxx should grow up to be quite a calm and balanced adult dog. He has a great temperament, and is the perfect age to get into Dog Daycare. He'll get a lot out of socializing at Fort Fido. Welcome Maxx, swell job today pal!

Meet Max & Teddy

Yesterday Max strolled in for his Assessment. He is a super-cute, three month old, fifteen pound, German Short haired Pointer. This darling little pup was happy and excited to get his morning at The Fort started. In the Medium Roll, Max first met with Miss Georgie "The Wild Woman", who was a lot of personality for him, yet he handled her very well. The two canines hit it off quite nicely, once Max realized that, Georgie, is really just all about high-paced play. Throughout the morning puppy-Max did a fine job of integrating with the pack. He socialized and played his heart out, while communicating well with the other canines. Max also took great ques from the elder dogs, and learned a lot, he'll be able to extract much positivity out of Dog Daycare, and he'll most definitely burn off some excess energy.

Today was Teddy's Assessment Day. He is a handsome, three year old, apricot and red colored, Miniature Poodle. We had Teddy try our Little Roll Play Area on for size. Up there, Teddy didn't do half bad. He meandered about his new found area, meeting and greeting, most commendably, with the others. Teddy didn't get into much play, he's going to need time and consistency to get the most he can out of Fort Fido.

It's time for Max!

Max is a striking, four year old, forty-two pound, three legged, Mixed Breed, that we assessed this morning. A rescue dog, Max has gotten lucky enough to now have a loving forever-home. Due to injury, Max had his front-left-leg removed this last September, but alas, he acts as thought he doesn't miss it, and it doesn't seem to slow him down at all! This healthy canine can still get moving with the best of them.

We had Max hangout in The Fort's Medium Roll, which proved to be a nice fit for him. He is a gentle dog that communicates quite well with other dogs. He is only interested in socializing nicely, and having fun. Although we didn't capture it on film, Max did play a good bit towards the end of his visit, with a handful of different pack members. We think we are going to see a lot more of Max involved in play, in future visits to Fort Fido. He is a very calm and well balanced dog, no pun intended. He should prove to be a great addition to our ranks, his Assessment, was a great way to cap off a busy week down here. Swell job Maxwell!

P.S. Ah, I also wanted to add this clip from yesterday of Pippin and new dog Max. Pippin usually doesn't get too playful unless he has been staying with us for a few days... He can also be tricky to capture on film, but alas, I got a little shot of him here, beginning to have a good time. :)

= Meritable Max =

Up for his assessment early this morning was Max. He is a sprightly, seven year old, twenty-three pound, Schnoodle (Schnauzer and Poodle Mix). Quickly scanning the room, Max entered The Fort's Little Roll play area with wonder and excitement. He met with the other dogs gregariously, and many of them liked him right away. Max is no stranger to socializing and play. He is a a livewire, ready and raring to play hard, yet he's gentle enough to know when another dog doesn't want to play. His canine communication skills are quite good. Due to his size and play-style, Max is flexible enough to do well in our Small or Medium Roll. This wily but kind fella, is welcome to attend Fort Fido anytime. We look forward to his return. First rate job today Maxwell!

It sure is fun when a new dog gets into play so quickly, Max was in the thick of it, minutes after his arrival. It shows that he is pretty darn "calm and balanced", and comfortable here. Awesome! Here he is sprinting around with Sheltie-man Gibson.

Mr. Max

 

Today was Max's Assessment Day. He is a handsome, three year old, twenty pound, Pembroke Welsh Corgi. We had Max have a go in our Medium Roll Play Area... He followed us to it easily, and entered without a care. Once the other "medium canines" began to arrive, Max acted quite cool, calm, and collected. He seemed curious as to what was going to happen at The Fort today. Max met with the others in a kindly fashion, but wasn't too interested in interacting at first... After being given some time, about two hours, Max began to interact much more. He busted out into a bit of play with Yuki, and seemingly had a good time. It has been our experience, that most "Corgi Canines" start to play and socialize quite feverishly lol. Max is one regal little dog that is more than welcome to hangout here at Fort Fido anytime. We here look forward to seeing him again soon.

Roll it!

Today in the Big Roll play area, we had a lot of action involving Max, Liberty, and Reilly... Border Collie Max, sure knows how to stir up the fun!

Big puppy-head, Oliver, has recently "graduated" from the Medium Roll to the Big Roll. He is experiencing his second day of the Large Pack today. We are glad he's made the move, and sure enough, as you can see, he is doing well and loving his new digs/friends.

In the Medium Roll today, it was our normal "cyclone of fur" that is Lucky and Yuki hahaha!

 

As usual, Georgie played her tail off, this time with "siblings" Lucy and Max. Awesome stuff.

Upstairs in the Little Roll, we had our cute Wednesday Regulars, and of course, lots of ball time. Sometimes, it can be rather hard to catch the little dogs engaging in dyadic (one on one), wrestling-style play... Today however, we got lucky. Here are Fort Fido mainstays, Oreo and Samarah, having a darn good time together.

Marvelous Max

We were in for a real treat with this morning's assessment... Meet new pup Max! He is an adorable, three month old, fifteen pound, chocolate colored, Multigen, Labradoodle. Max is the new "little brother" (technically nephew) of Fort Fido Medium Roll champion, Lucy (who is a "F1 doodle"). Now Max followed "big sis" Lucy into the medium play area. Once there, he explored cautiously, unsure of what to make of the place. As the pack grew in size, Max started to come out of his shell and really interact. Georgie, and others, helped welcome Max, getting him to gallivant with them.

Max is here at Daycare to sharpen his social skills, improve his canine communication, and of course, play hard while getting some energy out! Simply put, this puppy dog is here to learn and have a fun time doing it. Lucky for Max, he has an extremely good teacher at home, in Lucy. She's definitely been helping Max with his "studies", and it shows. Lucy is a very calm and balanced canine, the kind of dog folks want to own, a true testament to her ever popular breed. Hopefully Max will follow right in Lucy's "paw prints" lol. So far, so good, as you can see in the following little clip of the duo:

Max had a very positive first day at The Fort, he did a fine job here. We are stoked to have him amongst our ranks.

Like it has been watching Lucy, it will sure be awesome to watch, Max, grow into a respected adult canine.

I just scored some really fun clips of Fort regulars, Lucky and Max, involved in play. Their combined play-styles make for a fast, furious, and high-energy show. The two have known each other for a few months, but haven't engaged quite this much until recently... Maybe it has something to do with Lucky's stylin, new, aerodynamic haircut? Or maybe it's the fact that Max missed a week of daycare? Hahaha, I think both of those things factor in.

Par excellence Parker

Meet Parker! He is a handsome, six month old, thirty pound, Golden Retriever that had his assessment today. Now Parker pranced into The Fort Fido lobby bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. We showed him to the Medium Roll, where he entered with curious excitement. Shortly after Parker arrived, the pack grew with several young canines... After their arrival, Parker was in full-on Play Mode, meeting and greeting with any and all dogs interested in him.
Parker is well on his way to becoming a well mannered and socialized canine. He had a lot of fun at The Fort today, learning how to play fair. Well done Parker!

Chipper Chip!

This morning we assessed the ever-so-adorable Chip. He is hearty, six month old, black, brown, and white colored, Mixed Breed. Chip hung out with us in our Medium Roll. He got to know the pack right away, playing with several different members of it within minutes. This young pup is learning how to speak "Canine" wonderfully, and seems to understand why he came to The Fort and what he is here to do... Drain-off some of that youthful dog energy! Chip certainly did that today in first-rate fashion. We look forward to seeing him around these parts again soon.

Just a few clips

I hope y'all had a wonderful Holiday yesterday.

Around here at The Fort, it's been business as usual, which means, a whole lot of canine fun and socialization.

Take today's Medium Roll for example. We scored some funny clips of "brothers from other mothers" Mac and Max. These two dog-boys play hard, usually up until the point where Mac (The French Bulldog) is just plain "done" with Max and his wily antics lol.

 

Upstairs in the Little Roll, it was your typical fun & fierce action. Especially during, Ball Time, almost every little dogs favorite activity.

- Rascally Roxy -

Meet Roxy! She is a darling, one year old, twenty pound, Terrier Mix. This energetic pooch, was eager to give The Fort a try this morning. We led the super-cute Roxy to the Medium Roll, where she began her assessment. Almost right away, she showed off her playful spirit, and first rate canine-communication skills. Border Collie Max, was one of her favorite new pals. Roxy happily played hard, with several different dogs today. It was a pleasure to see her so involved, and "into it", on a first day. Well done Roxy! We look forward to seeing you soon for Overnight Boarding. We're pretty darn sure, you'll have a blast here again.

Fantastic Finn

Our Assessment Dog today was Finn. He is a fun-loving, four month old, twenty pound, Cardigan Welsh Corgi. Finn headed on over to the Medium Roll, where he absolutely flourished! He had thought that he had died, and gone to "Doggy Heaven" lol. Finn thoroughly enjoyed practicing his social skills here today. Luckily for him, there was a plethora, of perfectly matched dogs, for him to practice with. Finn made several new canine friends, having a most terrific stay. Good on ya Finn! We have a feeling we'll be seeing you again soon. For now, you can relive your fun, and dog filled moments from today, in the following clips.

Short but Sweet

Heroes of our day!

Rogue and Storm!! This dynamic duo came and assessed this morning and passed with flying colors. A pair of Lab/Boxer mixes that are a sweet 5 months old. Ready to rip it up in our medium roll, they got straight to the action with our other pups Max, Marlee, and Walter.

 

 

Not unlike the comic book "X-men", these two live, eat, and play together everyday. Thundering around the play area, Storm loved to test the waters with his new friends, playing chase and chasing in return.

 

 

 

Keeping in line with her namesake, Rogue stood back a bit and watched, learned from, and generally followed storm's footsteps throughout the morning, nosing around and getting used to the surroundings, while waiting for her chance to steal the show.

 

 

Over all, these dogs were a blast to have around, and I'm sure they will grow to be an amazing pair of dogs here in our pack.

Two great new dogs!

Last Sunday we assessed Max. He is an eight year old, ninety pound, Coonhound. Max stayed in the Big Roll. He was a curious and confident fellow, quite fluent in "Dog Speak" lol. He did very well here, playing with boxer friend, Liberty, among others. Max used to come to The Fort for training, when we had classes here back in the day... Now, he's ready and eager to experience daycare, as well as overnight boarding here at Fort Fido. Unfortunately, we accidentally deleted our digital picture of Max, but I assure you, he is a good lookin canine-dude. We'll get ya next time Max!

This morning we had the pleasure of assessing Bailey. Bailey is a nine year old, twenty-two pound, Cocker Spaniel. This cute little guy hung out with us in our Medium Roll and seemed to enjoy the affair. It was evident that Bailey had met a dog or two in his day. Although he didn't play a whole lot, Bailey was cool, calm, and collected around the others. He is more than welcome to join our ranks.

Awesome job Max and Bailey, we shall see you both soon!
