The Great Gatsby

Early this morn we assessed Gatsby. He is a six month old, forty-five pound, energy-filled, Chocolate Labrador Retriever/Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix. When Gatsby entered Fort Fido's lobby, we wasted no time getting him to the Big Roll Play Area. Once inside, he was a bit confused as to why he was here... After his owner left, Gatsby settled down into his new surroundings. He took the time to meet with Jackson, then quickly met Zipper, and others, as the pack grew. In total, it took probably five minutes for Gatsby to go from "unsure", to playing and having a blast. It was a sight to see and made us all happy. It's always a compliment to us,when a new-to-The Fort canine, is comfortable enough to play here within minutes of their arrival. It's just all around good, because that is what they are here to do, socialize, play, and enjoy themselves. We believe that Gatsby will continue to thrive here, and we look forward to having him in again. I sure hope he sleeps good tonight, or is at least "down a notch" cause he sure played whole-heartedly.

Enjoy these clips of Gatsby engaged in play with Jackson, Zipper and Reilly:

The Copper & Zoey Duo!

Yesterday morning, we had two choice dog-gals in for their assessments... Copper and Zoey! Copper is a thirteen year old, sixty-eight pound, black and brown colored, Doberman Pinscher Mix. Zoey, is a two year old, sixty pound, black, English Labrador Retriever. We had these two "sisters" stay with us in our Big Roll.

Copper did a swell job amongst the group. Being the eldest of The Roll, she didn't play a whole lot, which was more or less expected of her. Copper did however, meet and greet with a few different dogs, in a polite and mature manner. Copper pretty much just hung out, yet seemed very content with the situation.

Now Zoey on the other hand, was all about having fun and getting a wee-bit rowdy. She spoke good "DOG", socializing her way into vigorous play. Zoey had a splendid time at The Fort. She played hard with several different dogs, including Fort Fido regular, Zipper.

Both Copper and Zoey are welcome back here anytime, they are quite suitable for our pack. We plan on seeing them soon for an Overnight Boarding stay.

Here is a excellent little clip of Zoey and Zipper getting to know one another.

Be well,

Short but Sweet

Checkout these three beauties resting in a patch of sun... Actually, they are a few of our most rough and tumble male Big Rollers lol! Here they're taking a rare break from the action. Gage, Theodore, and Zipper, three dapper dogs, one great photo op.

Get a load of new puppy-boy Bob Marley "Jammin" with the wild and wonderful Sahale in the Medium Roll.

Max was getting in the mix as well.

All for now folks, cheers,

Our friends are at it again!

Here's a couple of clips from this morning at The Fort! First off, we've got Zipper, Marty and Stella romping with the Big Rollers

Next Up we've got Pancake and Macey, a pair of adorable medium rollers, also this clip features Lucy with her awesome new, summer ready hair-do!

And last, but certainly not least we have a couple of the puppies from our Medium Roll. Yuki, and Sierra play as Max patiently watches from the sidelines, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce!

Another great day with friends here at Fort Fido. Remember to check in on days your pup was with us, and maybe you'll see them here on the blog or playing on the television in the lobby.

A Peek at all Pooches!

Koji loves to be King of the Castle!
We got some really great clips of our dogs in action today, in every size! In the little roll, ball time was the main attraction, and all the ladies up there were having a really great time. Frizzy dominated, as usual, though Marlee was close behind her trying to edge in on the game. Dixie and Oreo mostly enjoy chasing the other dogs, which ball time is a great opportunity for!

In the medium roll, Avi and Jackson were back at it again-- these two just can't keep away from each other. Size definitely doesn't matter to these two, they play just fine despite their differences. We could all learn a thing or two from that!

Big dogs Zipper and Buddy were peas in a pod, just a couple of hound-dogs. Good thing that they were playing all the time, not crying all the time! Not any crying at all ;-)

Hope that you enjoyed the look inside!

Lounge Lizards

Yes, at times, thankfully, the wily canines at Fort Fido do take it down a notch on occasion. Hahaha! Here are some cute and recent examples. Most dogs that attend, go from amped to "dog tired" multiple times during their visit. It's a good thing. ;)

Rudy and Zipper = Cuddle Bugs.

In the Big Roll, the mighty Big Roll...

Gordo and Murphy being too adorable.

Who me?

Somewhat dog related lol... New Red Wolf Pups are making their summer debut at the Point Defiance Zoo. How exciting!

My, they are some amazing looking animals. Click here for the story and video.

Now, now... Leave you stereotypical off-color jokes at the door for this next thought of mine.. ;)

I stumbled across this funny looking pic of a Lab longing for some Korean BBQ. I understand him fully haha! Man, if you haven't tried it before, you absolutely must. My family and I hit up the best KBBQ place often. I went there for the first time 13 years ago, with my friend and his family. It has to be the best in the state due to our rich, local, Korean Culture. Chung Ki Wa is the name and it is on South Tacoma Way. Bring your family/friends, an open mind and your appetite, get the Pork Belly and Kalbi. If you have taste buds, I promise you will not be disappointed lol.

Cheers,

Happy Friday Clips

Four fun clips from today, three from the Medium Roll (It was game-on in there today lol) and one from the Big.

Bogie, KC and Zipper romped for quite some time this morning.

Pupcake took on young buck Zipper for some vigorous play as well.

Finn and brother Ozzy were up to their normal, knuckle-headed games, in the Big Roll haha.

Buddha hadn't been in for awhile but came back today for some Fort Fido action. Welcome back old buddy, it sure looks like you had a blast today.

Please enjoy your weekend, it's gonna be nice out!

-Grant

P.S. If you are looking for something to do this weekend... Why not hit up one of The 79th Annual Daffodil Festival Parades? The Band and I will be in first rate form, come say hello. It is a fun-filled day of spring and a true South Puget Sound tradition.

My heartfelt condolences to all involved in the Daffodil Festival... Specifically the Queen, Princesses, friends and family of Miss Alexandria Cole. Rest in peace dear.

Zany Zipper!

(Yeah, he's kinda like the ride. Ha!)

Guess what? We had another new dog start this morning... Not surprising at the rate we've been going eh? Spring has sprung and dog-love is in the air! ;)

Meet this young fella Zipper! He is a four month old, thirty-two pound, Labrador Retriever/Hound Mix. Zipper ventured into our Medium Roll where he did swell for a pup on it's first day. He needed a fair bit of "schooling" from the Alphas and older dogs. Zipper's canine communication skills will be sharpened and honed, more and more as he attends. He played umpteen amounts with any dog that would join him. Some dogs however, needed to correct Zipper. Many times, a happy-go-lucky pup, like zipper, won't take "No" for an answer when it comes to play. All in all, Zipper was great and we think he'll truly excel at Fort Fido. Rest up pal, we shall see you next week!

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. Here is a little clip... It's mostly Buster and Jasmine ripping it up but you can spot Zipper. I think first-rate-employee, Matt (Little brother of Gary), was busy this morning. There wasn't too much time for getting clips.
