Yesterday, we had the pleasure of meeting Puff. He is an adorable five-year-old, ten-pound, Silky Terrier mix. He joined the Small Dog Program where he enjoyed playing with his new friends. Riky Tiky and Lucy were among his favorites. Puff passed his assessment with flying colors and is welcome back anytime. We hope to see him again soon.

Louis Memorial

Louis: our Doggie Daycare Veteran. He was such a good dog. We met this handsome guy for the first time back in 2008, when he was a young and spunky, three month old puppy. When Louis joined I was only eleven years old at the time; I'm now 21! That's how long this guy has been coming here. Louis was the life of the party. He always looked forward to spending the day with us, and hanging out with his Fort Fido brothers and sisters...

We got some sad news last weekend. Unfortunately, Louis passed away. We were all devastated to hear this. He was the centerpiece of The Fort.

Louis had all kinds of personality. One thing he loved to do, was dress up every Halloween... Rick and Sandy enjoyed bringing him in, and showing us his costumes over the years... They sure did keep us on our toes! We were always looking forward to seeing what clever outfit they came up with.

Here's just a few we saw!
 (Posing as Ryan Lochte)

They not only shared his Halloween Fun with us, but they also liked to keep us in the loop, and send us fun photos of Louis outside of The Fort.

Louis loved Sun-Bathing      Go HUSKIES!

Halloween wasn't the only Holiday we got to celebrate with Louis. We could always count on Rick and Sandy for bringing in the Holiday Spirit every year. They loved to give us awesome Christmas Cards.

Louis was so popular here, that one of our Night Attendants decided to draw a super awesome picture of him!

Louis was not only a daycare dog, but he also enjoyed staying the night with us from time to time... Check him out snuggling with Nancy.

Check Louis out in action below! He was definitely a lively spirit.

We are going to miss this big guy. The Fort just won't be the same without his sweet wrinkled face and unique spirit.

Louis was not only a valuable member to our Large Dog Program, but he was also David and Nancy's (The owners) God Dog...

Rest easy buddy; you'll forever be in our hearts.

Riley and Kylie

We had two Boxers assess with us this morning: Kiley and Riley. Read below to hear how well they did!

Riley weighs twenty two pounds and is only eighteen weeks old. This guy has lots of growing to do! I predict that he's going to turn out to be much larger than Kiley, just look at those paws! Riley joined our Medium Dog Program, but will eventually make it into our  Large Dog Program once he grows and gains more energy.

Kylie is three weeks older than Riley (twenty-one to be exact) and weighs twenty one pounds as well! Just like her brother, Kylie joined our Medium Dog Program . She flourished and had a ball! (no pun intended) :)

Check out these two having a great time together... They seemed to make friends with pretty much any dog that gave them attention. It was adorable to watch them learn how to speak "dog" for the first time.

Riley and Kylie are more than welcome to return to The Fort for more daycare fun, whenever they please.

Have a good day,

Archer

This sweet girl was our assessment today... She's a one year old, sixty five pound Labrador Retriever. Archer is a very smart, well rounded dog. We noticed that right away once she was here for a while. She even made a new friend named Neo, the Siberian Husky. We were lucky enough to capture them playing together on video. Check it out!

We look forward to seeing Archer come back.

Rufus came into the Fort for his assessment bright and early this morning. He is a nine-month-old, eighty-pound, Chocolate Lab. Rufus is very well behaved, and "speaks" good dog. He will be a great addition to our Large Dog Program. Rufus thoroughly enjoyed his first day here, and made lots of new friends including, Marley, Sergeant Major, and Espy.

Rufus is welcome back anytime. Good job today, Rufus!

Check out this clip of Ginger & Marley having some fun in the Large Dog Program.

Mikah, Sam, and Lady

Mikah was yesterday's assessment. He's only thirteen weeks old and weighs about fourteen pounds. He's a Tibetan Terrier with a whole lot of spunk. Mikah came in here eager as ever; he was ready to check out his new hang out. Mikah made friends with the first dog he met, and several others after that. Check out this video to see how much fun he had with his new friend, Nia.
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming two dogs to The Fort...

Sam joined our Large Dog Program
with a huge grin on her face. It was apparent that this girl was going to enjoy her first visit with us. She's nine years old and weighs seventy four pounds. She enjoyed being among all the other dogs and getting to know this place.

This is Sam's sister, Lady. Unlike Sam, this girl is much smaller so she went up and joined the dogs in our Small Dog Program. She is a ten year old, thirteen pound Maltese. Lady came in here with curious eyes, and a wagging tail. She showed great Dog speak and seemed pretty happy being around a bunch of other dogs, like herself... (We have lots of Maltese's here)

All three dogs are more than welcome to come back for more Fort Fido fun whenever they please. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone,

Brody

This morning's assessment was a super spunky and curious, two month old Labrador Retriever. Brody weighs about nineteen pounds and male Retrievers average at about sixty five, to eighty pounds- so this little guy has lots of growing to do! Brody initially came in here a tad shy, it took him a couple minutes to make friends but once he did, he didn't stop!

Check out this video to see what I mean...

Brody has gained a tremendous amount of confidence from being in this type of setting, and it was only day one. It definitely didn't take long. He's a smart one! I look forward to watching Brody grow and mature with us; he's such a good lookin pup!

Enjoy your week everyone,

Business of the Month

During the months of April and May, Fort Fido was invited to make a display because we were "Business Of The Month" two months in a row! David put me in charge; the only thing I had to follow, was for it to be Easter themed. Being the Spring and Flower fanatic that I am, I got pretty excited for this side project...

(click photos to enlarge)

  I went to Michaels,
and chose the flowers that spoke  "EASTER" to me.

I even made Wilbur, our mascot, his very own Flower Crown on my off time.

Check out the rest of the Display... We had a basket to give away to one lucky winner, two GIANT poster boards that displayed some of the dogs that have been attending here over the years (do you see your dog?) and did I mention Flowers?! ;)

What was in the basket we gave away?
  • Several Stuffed Animals
  • A Treat Ball
  • Leash/Collar
  • Treats
  • Poops Bags
  • .... and much more

Feel free to watch this video if you want to see our drawing and hear who the lucky winner was!

It's about time to wrap this up- but I want to say thank you for all the amazing compliments I got on this display, and all the participation it brought! I hope you all have a marvelous Wednesday.

Nessa

Nessa was our first assessment of this week! She's a sixty five pound, nine year old lab mix. This girl came in here shy and curious; she showed great dog speak as our daycare dogs slowly started arriving for the morning. She mingled and wandered around the pack, I think she's going to enjoy coming here for occasional boarding stays.

Looking forward to seeing you soon, Nessa!

Tug, is a four-year-old, one hundred and twenty-pound, Mastiff. He joined our Large Dog Program where he politely greeted the other dogs. Tug thoroughly enjoyed his first day, and had a lot of fun playing with his new friends.

Buddy, is a ten-year-old, twenty-six-pound, Beagle. He joined our Small Dog Program, where he enjoyed hanging out and mingling with the others. Buddy & Tug, both passed with flying colors and are welcome back anytime.

This little guy was definitely a site for sore eyes. He loved getting familiar with all his new play buddies, and mingling among the pack.

We look forward to seeing him return,
Have a good night!
