Happy Friday

Happy Friday y'all! If you haven't already, checkout our YouTube Channel, it's got plenty of clips, and it has had a bit of a facelift as of late.

You may also want to take a look at the Rates page of our website, there has been a few minor changes.

In other news, my girlfriend spotted an extremely cute photo set of a puppy and a baby. Gulp lol. She sent me the link so I could post it on the blog. Surprisingly, I had seen it just a few hours before, and I must admit, it's pretty frickin cute. I attempt to stay current with as much online "dog stuff" as possible, but the internet is extremely vast and people love posting "dog stuff" all over, so it can be tricky to keep track of it all. If you run across something fun and or noteworthy, please email it to me.

Checkout the "Dog & Baby" here... And here!

That's all for now, just for good measure, here is a fun little clip of Georgie and Keegan, enjoying each other's company early this morning.

Have a great weekend, fingers crossed, GO HAWKS!

-Grant
P.S. Feel free to drop into The Fort this weekend for Daycare or Overnight Boarding, we have the room. Let your canine companion get into "Beast Mode" here, rather than at your Super Bowl gathering lol!

Dog Movie Throwbacks

The other night, I was struck with nostalgia after seeing Budweiser's upcoming Super Bowl commercial, "Puppy Love". It reminded me of many of the classic, canine-related, family movies and shows that I loved watching in my childhood.

Although I am far too young to have truly experienced the original Lassie Movie (1943), I did love watching reruns of the black and white television show on Nickelodeon. Timmy and his antics were quite the crackup to me back then. And who, at the tender age of nine in 1994, couldn't resist the charms of Michelle Williams in the Lassie remake film. She was most definitely, one, of my many first crushes. Puppy love? Lol!

One of my absolute favorite "pet films" was the 1986 classic, The Adventures of Milo and Otis! This movie was so fun to watch as a kid, real heartwarming and what not. I believe it to be the precursor to the equally amazing, Homeward Bound series of pet movies.

Basically, any show or movie with a "talking dog" or animal, thoroughly entertained me back than. When I say "talking dog", I'm referring to how the narration was done in those films... None of this Air Bud style junk with moving mouths lol! However, I'm sure there are a lot of children in love with the Air Bud series. Maybe I would have loved it too, if we had that superior CGI graphic technology in the early nineties, or, if I was younger... Yup... Suddenly in 1997, I became far too old for "talking dog" movies. Bummer. Anywho, I still love a few of those funny-dog-classics... Including the original Beethoven, ya can't forget about that gem.

For some rather enjoyable, and more grownup, canine-related family cinema, give A Dog Year and The Cave of the Yellow Dog a try. If you are really hard-up, there is always Marley and Me... But please, don't somehow "recreate" that beast in your life, and send it into The Fort. Hahaha!

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. Well actually, if your Marley-esque pooch can pass our assessment day, they're in. We can and do take care of several rowdy (high energy) canines daily. It's pretty much our biz, and what we do best. ;)

Up next is this great clip starring Summer and Blue from the big roll.

And last but not least, Brix and Theodore to finish it off.

Have a great week,
-Matt

Naptime at The Fort

Naptime, or quiet time, here at The Fort, is an essential part of the day. After socializing and playing in the morning, it is important for dogs to relax and unwind. In the afternoon, once the energy level rises, the socializing and play continues. It is unhealthy for dogs to go all day without rest. Tired, overly stimulated dogs can become cranky and uncoordinated. This can cause them to become more susceptible to disagreements or injury. Healthy canines play hard and rest well.

Below, you will find some great pics of a few dogs "resting well" here at Fort Fido.

Lucy the Livewire

Meet The Fort's latest new pup, Lucy! She is a four month old, seventeen pound, Black Labrador Retriever Mix. Lucy had her assessment here this morning. She entered Fort Fido happily, and was quite curious about her new surroundings. We decided it would be best if Lucy tried out the Medium Roll right from the get go. This proved to be a good decision, the Medium Roll was the right "speed" for Lucy. Lucy was able to make pals effortlessly. She had a fun time here and enjoyed the company of Georgie, Mac, and others. We look forward to the return of this spunky young canine.

Checkout Lucy in the following clips:

Fort Action

This first clip Georgie is trying out her luck with Lucky.

In this one Emmett decided to give Georgie a whirl.

Cody plays Robin with Mac (AKA Batman).

Theodore and Brix finish it out with what we like to call a fort roll or dyadic play.

Thanks, David

Two new dogs!

This last Saturday, we assessed Cooper. He is a darn-cute, three month old, twelve pound, Black Labrador Retriever. Cooper did really well here with the Medium Roll pack. He is a very sweet and exited young puppy, eager to please and play. Cooper got along nicely, becoming pals with Pepper (to no surprise) and Seamus.

Bella had her assessment this morning. She is a beautiful, nine month old, 55 pound, Sheepadoodle. Bella tried out both The Big, and Medium Rolls. After a bit of time, she ended up feeling right at home with the Medium Roll Pack. There, Bella wagged and engaged in a bit of play with a few different canines (including Cooper). It was a great first visit for Bella.

Both Cooper and Bella are welcome back here to The Fort anytime. We can't wait to have them in again.

You can catch a glimpse of Bella and Cooper in the following clip.

Take care,

== Bodacious Beagle ==

Capping off our busy and New-Dog-filled week, was Beagle. She is a one year old, eighteen pound... Yes, you guessed it... Beagle! Although small in stature, due to coming from a large litter, Beagle is "large" with personality. Because of this, we decided to try her in The Fort's Medium Roll. This way, she will be able to get much more out of her Dog Daycare experience. Sometimes we must match groups of dogs by their play-styles and energy levels, rather than just their size. After a little bit of "meeting & greeting" with the pack, Beagle was swiftly on to play. She's quite the social-butterfly, seemingly interested in every single canine she comes across. Beagle did an awesome job today and we hope to see her here again in the future.
Here is Little Miss Beagle gallivanting with the likes of Georgie, Mac, and others.

Cheers,

- Bona fide Buddy -

Our newest recruit, Buddy, had his assessment this morning. He is a nice, three year old, seventy-five pound, Rottweiler and Labrador Retriever Mix. A Dog Daycare Veteran, Buddy acted happy and excited upon entering The Fort's Big Roll. I believe a bit of deja vu set in for Buddy, because he totally seemed as if he'd been here to play before. As more and more members of the Big Roll Pack arrived, Buddy was ecstatic. He speaks pretty good "DOG", which allows him to make friends quickly and easily. Buddy played with a few different canines including Beau, Kingsley, Marty, and others. With that said, Buddy is welcome back anytime. Good stuff!

Here's some short film of Buddy having a blast.

Par excellence Parker

Meet Parker! He is a handsome, six month old, thirty pound, Golden Retriever that had his assessment today. Now Parker pranced into The Fort Fido lobby bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. We showed him to the Medium Roll, where he entered with curious excitement. Shortly after Parker arrived, the pack grew with several young canines... After their arrival, Parker was in full-on Play Mode, meeting and greeting with any and all dogs interested in him.
Parker is well on his way to becoming a well mannered and socialized canine. He had a lot of fun at The Fort today, learning how to play fair. Well done Parker!

Get a load of these clips featuring Parker, Lucky, Max and others having a good time this morning.

Be well,

-Grant

Chipper Chip!

This morning we assessed the ever-so-adorable Chip. He is hearty, six month old, black, brown, and white colored, Mixed Breed. Chip hung out with us in our Medium Roll. He got to know the pack right away, playing with several different members of it within minutes. This young pup is learning how to speak "Canine" wonderfully, and seems to understand why he came to The Fort and what he is here to do... Drain-off some of that youthful dog energy! Chip certainly did that today in first-rate fashion. We look forward to seeing him around these parts again soon.

Take a gander at these two swell clips of Chip in action with Lucky, and then Max.

Take care,

-Grant

Sophie did great in the little roll and immediately started playing and having fun, she especially enjoyed playing fetch. Sophie is a very sweet little puppy and you could tell that she enjoyed her stay from the minute she arrived to the moment she walked out the door.

Here is a short video clip of Sophie in action!

Cute pics and a funny article

Just thought I'd throw up a few cute pics that I've received recently.

Here is one lingering from The Holidays... Old school friend of The Fort, Kaira, "hugging" her Xmas present from us. Awww!

These next pictures are of our main-man-dog, Louis, rocking his Husky Gear after their win at the Hunger Bowl. Go Dawgs! Hilarious!

Last but certainly not least, checkout this interesting article I got from Pearl's Ma. Not surprisingly, her and I have discussed, at great detail, how and why dogs poo the way they do. LOL! Maybe it's TMI, but it is our biz.

Thank you to you all for the outstanding photos and links. It is much appreciated.

Take it easy,

-Grant

Scooter

This morning we welcomed, Scooter! He is an 8 month old, 27 pound, Tibetan Terrier. Scooter stayed in the medium roll this morning and although he was a little shy he seemed to enjoy himself while getting to know some new dogs and checking out his surroundings. Overall he did great and is welcome to come back anytime!

Here's a clip from the medium roll of Max, Jackson & Cody playing where you can catch a quick glimpse of Scooter!

Carefree Cooper

Meet Cooper! He is a super-cute, four year old, seventeen pound, brown and white colored, Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise Mix... That had his assessment this morning. Cooper spent his time in Fort Fido's Little Roll. He did a wonderful job meeting and greeting with the day's pack. Most importantly, Cooper played wholeheartedly during his stay. He took a special liking to Oliver and Rusty, among others. It was a great day for Cooper here at The Fort, he did a fantastic job and enjoyed his stay. We look forward to his next visit. A special "Thank You!" goes out to Little Miss Pearl, for recommending that Mr. Cooper give Dog Daycare a shot. We appreciate it!

Take care,

-Grant

Just a few clips

I hope y'all had a wonderful Holiday yesterday.

Around here at The Fort, it's been business as usual, which means, a whole lot of canine fun and socialization.

Take today's Medium Roll for example. We scored some funny clips of "brothers from other mothers" Mac and Max. These two dog-boys play hard, usually up until the point where Mac (The French Bulldog) is just plain "done" with Max and his wily antics lol.

Upstairs in the Little Roll, it was your typical fun & fierce action. Especially during, Ball Time, almost every little dogs favorite activity.

All for now, be well,

-Grant
