Lady & Indy

Lady came in for her Assessment Day Yesterday. She is a cool and confident, eleven year old, seventy-five pound, Labrador Retriever Mix. Lady spent her first day here in The Fort's Big Roll, where she was quite happy and content. Lady has excellent canine communication skills, and it's evident that yesterday wasn't Lady's "first time at the rodeo" lol. Because of her mature age, Lady didn't get into too much feisty play, however she did seem to be quite stimulated working out all the intricacies of the pack. Lady is one neat dog-gal, that we look forward to seeing again.

Today we assessed the clever Indy! This fella is a three year old, seventy-five pound, Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd Mix. Indy came through the doors curiously. We introduced him to the Big Roll Play Area, where he proceeded to explore with his nose to the ground. After letting him acclimate for a bit, it was time for Indy to begin to meet the pack. Meeting and greeting is no problem for the very sociable Indy, he speaks good "Dog", and makes canine buddies effortlessly... He proved this, by meeting with our XL Fort Fido regular, Theodore, first, and then becoming playmates with him almost instantly. It was good stuff to see! For the rest of the morning, Indy continued to enjoy the company of the other dogs and play wholeheartedly. Indy can get a lot out of attending Dog Daycare and we are pleased to have him here, hopefully he'll return for another visit soon.

Checkout Indy and Theodore in action!

Shep

Yesterday we met the proud Shep. He is a recently rescued, five year old, one hundred pound, black and tan colored, German Shepherd. New "brother" of Fort Fido regular, Lucy, Shep came into the lobby calm, and most ready to start his day. In the Big Roll, he kept cool and showed a pleasant confidence. It's clear that Shep has socialized with other canines many times before... As the pack arrived, he met with each member in the proper way, exhibiting very good canine communication skills. Shep got into lots of play in a short amount of time, taking on some of our most "rowdy" and regular Big Rollers, including, Nevada, Jack McCoy, Reilly and Theodore, just to name a few. All in all, Shep did downright awesome, and we were really happy for him, his owner, and his new "sister" Lucy. I'll let the following clips, from yesterday, speak for themselves.

Shep may visit us here at The Fort whenever he'd like, welcome dude!

Take it easy,

P.S. Ah, here's one more clip, from today, of Shep and Lucy, interacting at Daycare together. Fun!

Welcome Emmy & Maurice

Here are The Fort's latest recruits... Two total opposites lol, Emmy & Maurice!

We Assessed Emmy on Tuesday morning. She is a three month old, five pound, brown and black colored, Shih Tzu. This super cute little gal, was absolutely fabulous upstairs in our Little Roll Play Area. She really enjoyed meeting with the other canines and being part of the pack. For such a young dog, Emmy, exhibited great confidence and socialization skills.

In the following clip, you can spot Emmy scurrying around.

Today, we had Maurice in for his Assessment. He is a striking, five month old, sixty-five pound, Great Dane. Now Maurice, just so happens to be the "little" brother of Fort Fido Member, Jude, talk about a house-full! Maurice is here to burn off some extra energy and improve his canine communication. In the Big Roll, he did a fine job of that, making pals, and integrating into the pack easily. Maurice even got a chance to meet with a few of our other Great Dane buddies today, Theodore and Verbena. He took a liking to Theodore, and the two dogs frolicked for a little bit right after exchanging sniffs. Given strong leadership, time, and consistency, we think that Maurice will become a very well balanced adult dog. We also think that we are going to see a lot more play and activity out of him, in future visits to The Fort.

Both Emmy and Maurice are welcome to attend Fort Fido anytime they'd like, we are sure happy to have them!

Be well,

-Grant

Freya & Verbena

What an awesome double-whammy we had today! Get a load of Freya & Verbena, who had their Assessments today. Freya, is a nine year old, 125 pound, blue merle, Great Dane... And Verbena, is a four year old, 140 pound, black colored, Great Dane. These two large and in charge Dane-gals, hung-out with us today in The Fort's Big Roll, naturally. Freya and Verbena both did very well here today. The more "mature" Freya, hung back from the pack a little, and carried more of an alpha presence with her. While Verbena, branched out a bit more socially. The two didn't really play too much, however, they most certainly interacted with the other canines, and enjoyed their stay.

Here, you can see Freya and Verbena getting to know the handsome Theodore... I think they were smitten with him lol.

Swell job today ladies, welcome to Fort Fido, hope to see you again!

Take it easy,

Milo

Meet Mighty Milo! He is a two year old, seventy five pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever Mix. Milo had his assessment this morning and did quite well. He entered our Big Roll effortlessly, ready to make some canine friends. We introduced him to Tucker and Theodore right away, and the three dogs became "bash brothers" within minutes lol. Milo is one happy-go-lucky pooch, and it is apparent that he has been properly socialized. To fit in with the group, and be comfortable enough to play, so quickly, is a real compliment to Milo and his owners. He speaks "Dog" fluently, and has a "fast" play-style. It's really great when an "Assessment Dog" or "New Dog" works out so easily... It makes everyone's work much easier.  All in all, Milo did an outstanding job here at The Fort today. We look forward to his return.

Get a load of Milo having fun!

Jumping Jesse

Lo and behold Jesse! This handsome looking Mixed Breed is eight years old and weighs about seventy pounds. With a large and confident demeanor, Jesse walked into The Fort's lobby quite ready for his Assessment Day. We had him give our Big Roll Play Area a go, where we assumed he'd do great, given that he has been a Dog Daycare regular for most of his life. Jesse's first "meeting" was with the extra large and fun, Theodore, and to no surprise, Jesse met with him graciously. The pack continued to grow and things continued to go well... However, as soon as Brix got into the mix, Jesse busted out with him, into some high-energy "wrestle play". The two dogs played hard together off and on for a few hours, allowing other canines to join in as well. It was pretty much non-stop socialization-action for Jesse, up until he finally laid down for a rest, after about three and a half hours lol. In the end, we assumed right, Jesse did awesome! Over time, he should prove to be a key player in our Big-Dog Pack. Rest up Jesse, because we plan on seeing you again soon.

In this clip, Jesse shows off his "tough" canine playin' skills:

Clips from today's BIG ROLL!

Here's one of Blue doing what she does best... Taking on the whole pack in a game of wrestle-play lol!

Two great ones of Reilly and Theodore, these two "bash brothers" can really get to playing fast and furiously, but it's all in good fun of course.

Last but not least, this is a shot of two of our youngest Big Rollers having a good time, Douglas and Hailey.

Take care,

Clip it up!

From today's ruckus rolls... All kinds of fun!

In the Big Roll, we had "Ollie" being the usual clown with his buddy Jasper. Theodore had a great time, along with Brix, Jackson, Gage, and many others.

From the Medium Roll, we have a nice clip of "Bogart" and Yuki running amok.

Upstairs in the Little Roll Play area, Miguel, got the whole pack to party down... She also has a couple of "boyfriends" in Buckwheat and Rusty lol!

One shot of "Espresso" please!

Feast your eyes on Espresso, otherwise known as "Espy" for short. She is a one year old, seventy-five pound, Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Espy came into Fort Fido this morning all fired up, very excited for her Assessment Day. We marched her straight to the Big Roll, where she got down to business right away. A Dog Daycare regular, Espy was enthralled by meeting and greeting the pack...Within minutes, she was playing fast and furiously with none other than Oliver and Theodore, two staples of our large dog play area. The three dogs hit it off beautifully, and Espy, continued to thrive here throughout the day. This veteran canine-socializer should prove to be a nice addition to our pack. Way to go girl, you are welcome at The Fort anytime. We'll see ya soon!

Here is wonderful clip of Miss Espresso in action:

Tuesday Four Playfulness

Life at The Fort is exciting and fun for all dogs. Everyone has a good time here, playing and making friends as well as bonding with the pack. Enthusiastic about the playing today, we got some great video clips of some pack members playing.

As seen in the video below, we got a snapshot of Jude sneakily playing with Brix. They snuck more playing in before we could snap some videos of them.

Having a tremendous amount of fun, Blue and Reilly play it up in the large roll.

Reilly and Theodore are tearing the large roll apart, having a grand ol' time.

After requiring a few seconds of convincing from Theodore, Brix relaxes and begins to play with Theodore.

Hope everyone is enjoying this break from the hot weather, stay cool!

Cheesin' it with Chedder

(Mmm... Tillamook lol. Wrong type of "CheddAr", sorry, we're talking about the dog here...)

Get a load of Chedder! He is a hardy, two year old, seventy-pound, yellow, Labrador Retriever, that had his assessment today. Chedder brought his happy-go-lucky disposition in with him to the Big Roll. Once inside the play area, he met up with Theodore. The two hit it off instantly, ripping around and playing hard. Chedder is an extremely social dog, that is fluent in canine communication. He's the type that just wants to play, and have a good old time with any other dog that's receptive. Lucky for Chedder, there were several fun dogs in today that he got to mix it up with. All in all, The Fort scored an outstanding new Big Roll pack member... Way to go Chedder! You are welcome to Fort Fido anytime and we hope to see you again soon.

Here are two sweet clips of Chedder enjoying himself.

C L I P S

We scored some great clips for your viewing pleasure today.

In the Big Roll, Red and Theodore had one "raucous-reunion."

The Medium Roll was alive and kickin' as always, especially early in the A.M. with Shirley and Yuki.

Also, in the Medium Roll Play Area, we had the opportunity to bust out the "Herding Ball." Many dogs enjoy it, but today it was most definitely Jackson's favorite!

Be well,

Miguel / Slevin

Well everyone, we've finally made it to Friday, way to go lol! It was an awesome week to "pretty much" wrap up March. We had many new canines try The Fort on for size this week, and lucky for us and them, they all passed their assessments. We end this week on a high note, with two successful new comers, Miguel and Slevin.

Miguel is an adorable, four month old, eleven pound, brindle, black and white colored, French Bulldog. She hung out with us in our Little Roll play area. Up there, Miguel was jubilant, and super eager to meet the other canines. She was constantly on the move, getting to know one pack member after another. Miguel is a fun pup that just wants to play and be happy... Knowing that, she'll continue to do great here!

Slevin is a three year old, one hundred and twenty-eight pound, "blue" and white colored, Great Dane. Slevin wasn't quite sure what to make of the Big Roll at first. As time passed and more dogs arrived, he started to really open up to the experience. He met with dogs favorably, then relaxed enough to engage in play with several of them, including, you guessed it, another Great Dane, Theodore. It was exciting to see the two massive canines interacting so well, and having a blast.

Miguel and Slevin are two great dogs, capping off our assessment-filled week. We hear that we'll be meeting up with them again real soon.

Enjoy your weekend, stay dry!

-Grant

P.S. Unfortunately, we didn't capture any clips of Miguel this time around. We did however, get a glimpse of Slevin on the camera.

"Sam The Man"

Get to know a bit about Sam... He is a five year old, seventy-three pound, brindle, brown/black/white colored Mixed Breed, that had his assessment this morning. Sam stayed in Fort Fido's Big Roll play area. There, he did very well with the pack, wagging his tail, while happily greeting each dog that arrived. In the past, Sam attended a Dog Daycare up North as a regular, so it was no surprise to us, when he fit into the group easily. A cheerful canine, Sam, continued to enjoy his first visit to The Fort, throughout the duration of his four hour stay. He played hard and fast with several different dogs, which was exciting to see. Awesome job today Sam! We shall run into you again soon.

Here's two little clips of Sam having a blast with Theodore and Marty.

Take care,

-Grant

Keen Kate

Today we assessed Kate. She is a very social, four year old, eighty pound, German Shepherd. Kate entered into Fort Fido raring to go. She stepped into the Big Roll, as the first entry of the morning, full of excitement and curiosity. As dogs arrived, Kate greeted them in a smart and friendly fashion. The pack continued to grow throughout the morning, while Kate continued to be happy and content in her surroundings. This German Shepherd gal, has definitely socialized and played with other canines many times before. She was a pleasure to have in here today. Kate, we're glad you had a great time in here, and we hope to see you again soon.

Here is a cool little clip of Kate in action with Fort regulars, Brix and Theodore.

Have a good Monday,

= Apollo =

To cap off our assessment-filled week, we met with Apollo. He is a handsome, four year old, eighty-eight pound, Black Labrador Retriever. Apollo tried The Fort's Big Roll on for size. There, he did a fine job getting to know the pack. Apollo greeted several different canines, and he seems to speak pretty good "DOG". Towards the end of his stay, Apollo decided to bust out into a little play with Fort Fido regular Theodore. The two got along well, but unfortunately we were unable to get a solid clip of their interaction... It happened so fast and unexpectedly lol. All in all, Apollo is welcome to stay with us whenever his owners would like. We expect to see more play and "good times" out of this admirable dog. Nice job Apollo, we'll see ya around soon.

Enjoy your weekend,

-Grant

* Stellar New Board & Clips *

Checkout the new chalkboard we got up in our lobby. It displays all of our current rates and services... It's been a long time coming, we should have had this baby up years ago to avoid any "confusion" haha.

Thank you to my wonderful girlfriend for the help on this project. She built most of it, and, kindly and lovingly scribed the info. onto the board, with magnificent penmanship I might add. Absolutely beautiful! We used these new-to-us "chalk markers" for the project and they are really cool. I highly recommend them for all of your chalk-board-writing needs lol. The fine folks over at Narrows Brewing CO. recommend them to us. ;)

In other happenings around The Fort, and in video, we have three hits from "The Captain", a funny one of Kingsley and Theodore, and, a cute clip of Rusty and Tucker playing.

Cheers,

-Grant

A lil action from 1/28

There's a little clip of Theodore and Summer from the Big Roll too.

Have a great day,

- In memory of Athena -

Yesterday we received the very unfortunate news that, Athena, long time Fort Fido regular, passed away. Sadly, Athena had health issues from the very beginning of her life, which compounded as she got older. Despite this, she was one amazing and active dog that attended The Fort for many years. You would never know she had health issues if you met her.

Athena was a Great Dane, and a high-energy one at that! Having a large and fun-loving personality, she took on any and all canines that would befriend her. Some of her best buds were Finn and Theodore. Her play style was surprisingly fast furious, especially for being such a big girl. She loved coming to Doggie Daycare, and we are quite proud to have been a part of her life, and specifically, one of many parts that she truly enjoyed. Rest in peace friend,

-Grant, David, Nancy & all of the Fort Fido staff.

Please follow THIS LINK, then begin to scroll down (past this post), for pictures, video clips, and all blog posts related to Miss Athena. definitely check it out, there is some great stuff.

Also, as always, I like to post a link to The Rainbow Bridge Poem when these heart wrenching events occur. The poem can be appreciated by most, and helpful for some.

P.S. In other, not sad news, our Soggy Doggy Event is these evening. Be sure to swing by and say hello!
