Arya was our adorable assessment from today... This sweetie-pie is a twenty pound Husky, that's only three months old! She joined our Medium Dog Program with lots of curiosity and personality. She made numerous amounts of friends and took a particular liking to Dutch and Louis! Feel free to watch them play in this goofy video below...
Eventually Arya will join the bigger pups in our Large Dog Program- once her energy level rises, and she grows a bit.

Thank you everyone for your lovely cards! We are open every day, 7 days a week (including holidays). Here are some fun times the dogs have during the holidays.
Yesterday we met with the happy and energy-filled Daisey. She is a nine month old, forty-eight pound, Tan and White Colored Pitbull Terrier. Daisey was all "wiggles and wags" as she entered into The Fort's Big Roll. She is a very athletic canine, that is here to socialize and burn off some excess energy... And that's exactly what she did! Daisey was quick to befriend the other dogs, she made playmates effortlessly. Daisey should prove to be a wonderful addition to our Big Roll Pack. She did an outstanding job and we plan to see her more!

This morning, we were up bright and early to Assess Maxx. He is an irresistibly-cute, three month old, twenty-one pound, English Bulldog. This little fella is going to grow up to be one big and strong canine, but for now, he's just a small pup. Maxx is here to hone his canine-communication skills and have a good time exercising. To ease him into the joint, we had Maxx start out in our Medium Roll Play Area. Once inside, he explored eagerly, knowing he'd be meeting with some other canines soon. After letting him get his bearings, we had Maxx meet up with pack members Stella and Max (Mue). That combination of dogs proved to be just perfect for Maxx. They began to wrestle play within minutes of meeting one another. Given strong leadership, time, and consistency, Maxx should grow up to be quite a calm and balanced adult dog. He has a great temperament, and is the perfect age to get into Dog Daycare. He'll get a lot out of socializing at Fort Fido. Welcome Maxx, swell job today pal!
Yesterday we Assessed Kaylee, she is a nine month old, about twenty-five pound, Labrador Retriever and Boxer Mix. Now Kaylee is a very sweet, yet very shy and timid canine. She is here at The Fort, to socialize, play, and gain some confidence. We escorted Kaylee to the Medium Play Area, where she was quite unsure about what she was here to do... However, upon meeting some other canines, Kaylee quickly blossomed, it was an awesome surprise! What she lacks in confidence with humans and new surroundings, she makes up for ten-fold, in dog-play and socialization. Kaylee sprinted around, and played hard with several different members of the Medium Roll's pack. It was a pleasure to see. We believe that Fort Fido can do a lot for Kaylee's confidence and well being. Given time and consistency, we know she can become an even better, and less timid adult dog.

Today we had a doubleheader of Assessments. Meet Jupiter and Rainier!
Rainier is a calm, eight month old, fifty pound, Black and White Colored, Australian Shepherd.
Jupiter and Rainier are the type of dogs that would be able to handle both our Medium and Large Play areas. To warm them up to our place, we had them try the Medium Roll on for size. One therein, the two "dog brothers" explored their new surroundings merrily. After a few minutes, it was time to begin to meet the pack. Both Jupiter and Rainier did so properly, and with gusto! They befriended several of the pack members within minutes. They took a real liking to Louis, Shiva, and Otis, among others. We were thrilled to see these two high-energy herding dogs, fit in so well, play, and be liked by the pack so quickly. We have a feeling that We'll be seeing these two dudes again for sure!

As well as a lovely continuation of his Thanksgiving Chalk Art. Man this guy is good, ya just can't look at his work without becoming happy lol, enjoy!
This morning the Fort Fido crew met up with Abbie for her Assessment. She is a super cute and spunky, five month old, twenty-four pound, Border CollieMixed Breed. We escorted Abbie to the Medium Roll, knowing it would be the perfect fit for her. Although she is small, she has Border Collie in her, making her energy filled and quite tough. Once she entered the Play Area, Abbie was interested in exploring it, and seemingly eager to be introduced to some canines. We had her meet with Edna and Louis right away... As expected, due to her disposition and age, Abbie was very submissive, yet met with the other canines in a decent manner. Play is the name of this young dogs game! After some quick sniffs, Abbie, had Edna and Louis whipped up into a frenzy of play and "chase me" games, too fun! Abbie is most welcome here at The Fort. We believe that she can get a lot out of Dog Daycare, and will continue to thrive here. Nicely done Abbie, let's continue to hone those social skills!
The Fort Fido crew had some fun and a workout this morning, because of our latest recruit. Meet Douglas, he is a head-turning, high-energy, three month old, thirty pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever that came in for his assessment. He's the type of pup that you'd see on one of those primetime dog food commercials... You know, the ones where a big-cute-puppy knocks over a huge bag of kibble and starts devouring it... That's Douglas hahaha!
After being introduced to the "Medium Roll", where we are sure he won't stay for too long because the "Big Roll" is beckoning him, Douglas met up with Fort regular Louis. The two hit it off quickly and easily, with Louis being quite playful and patient with the young canine. As time passed and the pack grew Douglas stayed in a blissful state, AKA, he was in Dog Heaven haha. Being a puppy, Douglas is here to learn how to socialize and interact with other canines properly. So far, he's on the right track. We are almost certain that, given time and consistency, Douglas and his owners can get a whole lot out of Dog Daycare. Nice job today Douglas, you're welcome back anytime!
The Fort welcomed in a real player this morning... Meet Pete! He is a fun-loving, two year old, fifty pound, Australian Shepherd. Now Pete bound into the building ready and rarin to go. Like a bullet, he shot to The Medium Roll, with positive high-energy, and Dog Wrangler, Zach, in tow lol. It was quite clear that Pete was 100% ready to figure out what Fort Fido is all about. Upon entry into the play area, Pete met up with Louis, and the two hit it off instantly. Ya see, Pete is a very social canine, he meets and greets dogs well, just wanting to play and make buds, with any dog that's game. It sure is great to welcome in a new dog that truly likes to play, socialize, and fit in with the pack real proper like. This Pete fella definitely does all of that, and he is most welcome here. Well done today Pete!

"Extreme Cuteness" arrived in the form of a Shiba Inu Assessment, this last Saturday. Meet Thalia, she is a spunky, one year old, twenty pound, Sesame Shiba (red and black colored). Outside our place, Thalia, is good buddies with Medium Roll Regular and "barrel of fun", Louis. Like Louis, Thalia is a whole lot of fun, and is a lot like a few of our other Shiba Friends. She thoroughly enjoys socializing with the pack, and playing. On top of being quite a looker, Thalia will be an excellent inclusion to Fort Fido's Medium Roll. Man, if all of our Shibas show up on the same day, it'll be one high-energy day!
This morning, "Extreme Cuteness", arrived in the form of a stocky, cuddly, baby bear cub-like pup, in for his Assessment. Meet Oliver! He is a three month old, twenty pound, black and chestnut colored, Bernese Mountain Dog and English Crème-colored Golden Retriever Mix. Oliver had a blast here today. He wiggled, wagged, frolicked and played his way into everyone's hearts haha.
Oliver's only problem however, is that he may be too cute for his own good! What I mean to say is, too cute to correct, literally.
Excuse me while I rant a bit... Sometimes, the real "cuddly-fuzzy-wuzzy types", can miss out on Strong Leadership and Corrections, just because they are so darn loveable. When this happens to a dog, especially a dog that will become large in size, behavioral problems can develop quickly... Seemingly going "from 0 - 60". You know how it goes, kinda like the cute little kid that "gets away with murder". With Oliver, one must constantly remind one's self, to look past his cuteness, and treat him like every other member of the pack... When your not cuddling him that is lol. This way, he'll communicate and fit in with other dogs properly, becoming a healthy and more well-rounded canine. We don't want "the cuties", like Oliver, to turn into People Possessive and or S.A. ridden dogs. I can assure you, there's no fun in that. Lucky for Oliver, he has a good owner that can do right by him.
Anywho, Oliver did a fine job in here. Like Thalia, Oliver too, is welcome here at The Fort anytime. I know the crew can't wait to meet with him again. Checkout these two short and sweet clips of Oliver, playing with doggy-gals Miley and Georgie.
Naptime, or quiet time, here at The Fort, is an essential part of the day. After socializing and playing in the morning, it is important for dogs to relax and unwind. In the afternoon, once the energy level rises, the socializing and play continues. It is unhealthy for dogs to go all day without rest. Tired, overly stimulated dogs can become cranky and uncoordinated. This can cause them to become more susceptible to disagreements or injury. Healthy canines play hard and rest well.

This morning we were excited to assess Scout. She is an eight month old, thirty-eight pound, brown and brindle, Labrador Retriever/ Bavarian Mountain Hound Mix. Now Scout is a very nice dog that is very sociable. She took to the Medium Roll with ease, and it was truly a perfect fit for her. Scout played a bunch with several different members of the pack, taking quite a liking to Georgie and Louis, among others. We are thrilled to have Scout amongst our ranks here at The Fort. We are also happy for her owners, they have scored a great canine companion. She's certainly welcome here anytime. First-rate job today girl!

A little belated Halloween-love from our buddy Louis... He is seen here, channeling his inner Willie Nelson. Too funny! "Willy" should try this too lol.
We got a couple of good clips of our buddy Louis-- first up is him in action with the herding ball during his boarding stay. I didn't know until just now that these are the same sort of balls that lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) play with at the zoo.
I meant to get this clip up yesterday, of all our Saturday dogs tearing it up! Featured prominently in the clip are Louis and Samwise, and they are joined by Louis and Baer as well.
As you can see, we've been having a fun-filled time as usual! I hope that you took advantage of the sunshine this weekend and did the same :-)
Last night things got pretty cuddly with these sweet sleepers! Cayenne and Louis were best buds, and Tikvah really liked squeezing into the tiny bed, haha. Reminds me of a certain bulldog that stays with us ;-)
The sleepiness ended when we opened up shop for the day's daycare dogs, and we got some great peeks at the action in all three areas. Upstairs, Marlee and Oliver were trying to figure out how to play fetch and share at the same time. Hilarity ensues!
In the Medium Pack, Tikvah was running amok with pals Lucy and Phoebe. These girls definitely know how to have a good time.
Large pups Max and Red had a "clash of the titans" in the big roll. These boys had a great time together, and were a really well-matched pair.
After this rip-roarin' day, we'll have some more cute sleepers tonight I bet!
The Small dog pack and the Medium dog pack both got one dog bigger today!
Upstairs, we met the little sister of Fort Fido friend Gus. Her name is Izzie and she's a year-old terrier mix-- a darn cute one at that! Although she was a bit shy of people, she did really seem to enjoy the pack. This lucky little lady is a rescue, who seems to be settling well into her new home.
Our medium buddy was this dapper gentleman with a sly and mischievous streak. Louis is a Boston Terrier-Pug mix, otherwise known as a Bugg. He did really well with the other medium guys, and made friends with Bogie. The two were caught on film romping in the morning!
We are fortunate to have such great dogs coming in to join up with us, and we look forward to seeing more of them. Thanks for helping to make Fort Fido such a great place for everyone!
