Rigby & Rome

Say hello to this handsome guy, Rigby. He's a little over three months old and weighs only twenty pounds; this boy has some growin to do! Rigby entered The Fort with confidence and ease when we met him Thursday morning. He was a very curious and young-spirited little puppy that was ready to burn some energy! One of the first dogs he met was a year old Goldendoodle  named Maile that joined us around this time last year. Check out the two of them meeting for the first time in the videos below.

This video was filmed right after Maile arrived for the day. As you can see, it didn't take them long to become buddies.

Here they are goofing off and being silly with each other.

Rome was today's assessment. This sweetie is a two year old, sixty pound, Labrador Retriever. She joined our Medium Dog Program  a little shy; she wandered around the play area and sniffed everything she could find but once she became familiar with her surroundings, she defiantly came out of her shell. She particularly took a great liking to one of The Fort's regulars, Petey.
Check em out having a blast together below!

Here she is mingling among the pack- but ends up going back to playing with Petey in the end. Lol

Both Rigby and Rome are welcome to come back anytime! I hope you all enjoyed your Fridays,

Reuben

Isn't this guy a site for sore eyes? Reuben is a five month old Reindeer Chihuahua  that joined our Puppy Program this morning. I think it's safe to say that this 'lil guy is definitely the definition of, "Cute Puppy!"

Reuben joined his new play area a little shy at first- this was a big day for such a little guy. But as the morning continued and as more dogs arrived for him to meet and mingle with, he seemed to relax and fit right in with his new daycare friends. I also noticed that this pup is quite adventurous. He checked out our picnic table as well as our tire swing during his assessment. Check out the videos below and watch Reuben scope everything out!

Here he is trying out our tire swing

Exploring around our Picnic table

I'm very much looking forward to seeing Reuben return here for more daycare fun. It'll be cool to watch him grow as he gets older.

Have a great night!

Leah

Leah is a well socialized three in a half year old, thirty seven pound Beagle/Fox Terrier mix that joined our Medium Dog Program early Tuesday morning. She was very curious as she first entered her new play area and began to meet her new daycare friends.

Leah's family found her at the Purdy Prison Pet Partnership Program five months ago. The program is a non-profit organization located at the Women's Correction Center in Gig Harbor.

Their goal as an organization is to help train and prepare their inmates for pet-industry related jobs once they resume their lives outside of the prison. Leah was there for a whole year before Char and Bob adopted her.

Fort Fido completely supports the program and  thinks it's a great idea. In fact, we've actually helped them in the past with donations!

All in all, Leah had a great first day at The Fort and is welcome to come back anytime.

Have a wonderful evening,

Danny & Zoe

Today we welcomed Danny and Zoe, two cute Dachshunds. Danny is a short-haired Dachshund while Zoe is a long-haired Dachshund. These two pups were excited to begin their day with us. They went up the stairs and into our Small Dog Program. Within our Small Dog Program, both Danny & Zoe explored the Small Dog Program to their hearts content. After their expedition of the program, Danny began to romp about as the other dogs entered. Zoe took a slower route, but warmed up and began to have fun too. They both looked like they had a blast here and we are looking forward to seeing Danny & Zoe return for more fun times soon!

Have a wonderful day,

Tigger

Today's assessment is the newest member to the Garrett family, who have been customers of The Fort since 2013 when they brought their first dog, Roxy, here for her assessment. Much like Roxy, Tigger is an energetic eight pound, five month old Jack Russell Terrier. He joined our Small Dog Program with ease and curiosity. Tigger is a cute little guy with a whole lot of life and personality in him.

We look forward in seeing Tigger return here and join his big sister in on all our daycare fun!
Enjoy your evening,
~Shaunte'

Finn & Hammi

Finn, a 5 month-old, 12 lbs., Mini Schnauzer, joined Fort Fido today with her sister Hammi, another 5 month-old, 11lbs., Mini Schnauzer. They both went into our Small Dog Program, where they began to meet other like-sized pups as they came in throughout the morning. They spent most of their time here getting to know the Small Dog Program and the other pups. We hope to see this cute duo return regularly so they may become accustomed to The Fort and enjoy their time here.

Have a nice day,
- Zach

Winnie came in for her assessment bright and early yesterday morning. She is a four-year-old, fifteen-pound, Papshund (Papillon x Dachshund mix). Winnie joined our Small Dog Program where she enjoyed mingling with the other dogs. She is welcome back anytime and we hope to see her again soon.

This morning we welcomed Frankenstein to the Fort. He is a four-year-old, twenty-six-pound, Cairn Terrier x Schnauzer mix. Like Winnie, Frankenstein joined our Small Dog Program. Dutch

We met this big, cute, one hundred and five pound, two year old, St. Bernard Mix
on Tuesday morning. As soon as Dutch's paws walked through our front door we noticed right away how much of a gentle giant he is. He was a little shy when he first started meeting his new play buddies in our Large Dog Program, but as the morning progressed, he seemed to open up and become more comfortable here. Large dogs are a personal favorite of mine and he is definitely one handsome fellow!

I couldn't stop staring at him... See what I mean? He's a looker for sure!

I'm looking forward to seeing Dutch again; he may return whenever he pleases.

Have a wonderful evening everyone,
~Shaunte'

Beautiful Barney

Today we welcomed Barney. Barney is a beautiful (and soft) 8 year-old, 23 lbs., Dachshund. I may be partial to Dachshund's because I have one, but that doesn't mean I can bypass Barney's assessment (darn!). We still had to make sure that Barney would be a good fit here at The Fort. Barney seemed like he was ready for a new adventure as soon as he arrived and strolled right into our Small Dog Program. Barney spent his time meeting the others and learning what Fort Fido is all about. I am looking forward to seeing Barney's cute face again.

Have a wonderful Labor Day,
- Zach
