Wilson
This bright and spunky dog is who we welcomed through our doors this a.m.! Wilson is a three in a half year old Golden Retriever that weighs seventy pounds. Wilson joined our Large Dog Program and fit in like he's been a part of this place for years. He did lots of exploring, sniffing, and getting to know the other dogs... Diego is another retriever who looks almost identical to Wilson, and that's who he took to and played with for most of the morning.
We hope to see him return soon!
Take care,
~Shaunte'

Happy Memorial Day!
Today we welcomed Pablo to The Fort. He is a 1 year old, 65 pound, black/white Pit Bull mix. Pablo did great for his first day, he came in this morning full of energy and ready to play.
In this clip Pablo is playing with Bella the boxer in the large roll. Also in this clip are Bonnie the Labrador Retriever Mix and Diego the Golden Retriever.
Have a great Memorial Day,
- Gary

A few clips
A few clips from today...
Here's a great one from the Little Roll, it seems to always be a party up there! In the clip, you can spot Dixie, Pearl, Willow, Mimi and Pippin.
The next two are just some quickies of Diego, Penny and Reilly having some fun.
All for now.
Take it easy,
-Grant
P.S. Ah, I also wanted to add this clip from yesterday of Pippin and new dog Max. Pippin usually doesn't get too playful unless he has been staying with us for a few days... He can also be tricky to capture on film, but alas, I got a little shot of him here, beginning to have a good time. :)

Rollicking Rufus
Meet Rufus! He is a three year old, eighty pound, Tick Hound Mix, that had his assessment this last Saturday. Now Rufus did absolutely superb. He is a wonderful dog, with a great attitude. Rufus is extremely fluent in "Dog Speak", and showed off his canine-communication-skills with ease. He has attended Dog Daycare before, so fitting in with the pack at Fort Fido was not a problem. Throughout the day, Rufus exhibited solid and fair play. He "jammed" with several different dogs, including Diego, which became one of his favorites. Rufus, you are welcome to stop by The Fort anytime, and we certainly hope that you do!
Here's Rufus & Diego, playing well together in the Big Roll.
Have a nice President's Day,
-Grant

The Fort's old pal, Diego, sent us some recent and wonderful pics of him and his new baby brother... All the way from Germany! Looking good you guys! As always, thank you for the awesome photos.
Be well,
-Grant
P.S. Please, if you have any holiday photos of your pets, email them to us. We love receiving them and getting them up here on our blog.

Welcome Molly & Nelo
Checkout these two great new dogs we assessed this morning!Meet Molly, she is a one year old, sixty pound, Blue Merle Australian Shepherd / Labrador Retriever Mix. Molly is a sweet dog that did well in the large roll. Although she didn't get into a whole lot of play, she seemed rather comfortable with the experience.
Molly's "Brother" is Nelo. Nelo is a one year old, seventy pound, Black Labrador Retriever / Golden Retriever Mix... We here at The Fort, think Nelo may be a Flat Coated Retriever Mix. This striking young dog had an awesome time in our Big Roll. Quite a bit more outgoing then sister Molly, Nelo, mingled with several different pack members. He spoke great "Dog", and played heartily with Diego, among others.
Both Molly and Nelo are welcome to attend Fort Fido anytime. They will be a fine addition to the pack, and we look forward to their next visit.Be well,
-Grant

A Few Clips
Last night's Overnight Boarding twas a "Boxer Love Affair"... With none other than Gage and Liberty, having fun throughout the night. Cute stuff!
The Medium Roll today was fast and furious! Keeping the steady pace, was Bob Marley and Sahale, among several others.
Last but not least, a nice shot from the Big Roll. Nonstop "Golden Play" from the dynamic duo, Baer & Diego. As you can see, Brutus, was left only to "referee".
LOL!

D for Diego!
We just had the wonderful opportunity of assessing Diego. He is a one year old, sixty pound, reddish colored, Golden Retriever.Diego stayed with us in The Fort's Big Roll. He bounded in with joy, eager to make friends and have a nice time.
Although a bit on the small side for his breed, Diego's large personality makes for a remarkable addition to the pack. Diego may hangout with us here at Fort Fido anytime, and we hope that he will, lickety split.
Be well,
-Grant

Pics from Fort friends!
Here are some awesome pictures from our pal, Diego, from his current pad in Germany... I've been told, we may get to see the old fella again someday, once he and his family return to the states. Thanks for the pictures dude, be well!
-Grant
P.S. As always, if any of you out there have pics of your pooch, please send them in!
Diego and pal.
"Schnurrbart"
The D-Man staying cool
Topping out our "Cute O' Meter" lol, is Fort Fido mainstay, Rainier, lounging around with his "niece and nephew". Super cool! It looks like he has had quite a summer of babysitting haha. Thank you for the great photo.

Belated Happy Halloween
From the "D-Man" Diego... Belated because of me, not him lol. The photos are, "The Balancing Act", "Happy Halloween", apparently that is how he greeted trick or treaters lol, and "Winning" featuring his loot from the contest.
What a fright and how fun! Great pictures dude, thank you kindly. Also, congratulations on your second place finish in Fort Fido's first annual costume contest. Which, by the way, will be much improved next year. With good input, given to us from several of our customers. We will now be able to workout some of the "kinks" that were in this years contest. Let's just say, we will be "leveling the playing field" next time around. A special thanks goes out to our manager, Hope, for coming up with the grand idea and laying the groundwork. Awesome job!
Take it easy and enjoy your weekend!
-Grant
P.S. Speaking of contests, this one, with a bit of a different flavor, caught my attention yesterday. Hahaha! None of my customers will be entering that one. ;)

summer pics and articles
Summer began today, woo-hoo! I thought these two pictures I received would be fitting.
From Buddy boy, looking as stylish as ever in his summer shades. Haha, I wonder if they stay on? They look like a perfect fit.
Here is one from Diego, lounging around with no glare in his eyes. Awesome! Thanks you two for the super photos. If anyone one else out there has photos of their dog in summertime action, please, send them in and we'll post them on the blog.

Nifty pics from friends of The Fort
Romeo's ma, Raili, sent me a pic of this knee-slappin' sign she found at a pet store in Lakewood. I absolutely love it, hahaha! She also sent me a picture of her and Romeo stopping by the Grand Canyon on a recent road trip. Too cool, how photogenic, thanks a ton Raili!
Diego's mother, Carla, sent me this fun pic of Diego. It reminds me of some cartoon I've seen before... Can't quite put my finger on it. I couldn't even tell it was him at first lol!
Y'all be well,
-Grant

Several Clips
Starting off with one of Jasmine, Macs and Zeus rough housing in the Medium Roll...
And another one from the wild and wooly Medium Roll.
Here is a shot of today's Big Roll from the stairs lol, twas a nice vantage point.
I followed Gherie up to the Little Roll today, it ended up being pretty cute although we need a new camera... Been saying that for awhile now. It'll happen, gotta break this one more first.
Jaeger put an end to this last great clip we had going haha, we have to edit out certain things. ;)
Cheers,
-Grant
P.S. YouTube has been funky today, some clips, or at least the last one, might not load, sorry. It's not my fault I swear!

Cool Clips and a Happy Birthday to Tazzie!
One from the Big Roll and three from the Medium Roll... Sorry Little Roll, we'll get ya soon! ;)
Mollie and Ziva, among many others we had in there today, were getting along like two peas in a pod.
New puppy-boy Bear has been branching out nicely. Here he starts to romp with Macs and Otto.
Emily and Phoebe are best friends. They are a very good match as far as size and play-style are concerned... You can see what I mean in this clip.
Another set of best buds, Barkley and Diego roughhouse a lot when they meet, usually twice a week.

Happy Birthday to Miss Tazzie! She turned the big "five years old" today. Her ma Lisa was kinda enough to bring in treats for all (Including some for us, thank you kindly!), be sure to grab some treats for your pup on the way out. Sorry, the donuts we received are pretty much gone lol. :)
Take care,

Artic Diego Pics!
Thanks once again to Diego's owner Carla for sending these outstanding photos in... The Beagle-Boy is in his element here, ripping up some fresh powder, o yeah lol!

I know y'all know how much we enjoy receiving pictures of our Fort Fido dogs outside of The Fort. :) Send 'em if ya got 'em, grant@fortfido.com!
Thank goodness this freezing mess is almost behind us. Watch out for falling ice chunks, they are a not so obvious danger, particularly the ones off of power-lines... I'm not used to having to look up while walking to and from home. While shoveling the driveway, pops and I almost got nailed, yikes!
Have a nice weekend,
-Grant
P.S. Yes, we are open tomorrow. Should be having a busy week next week, the canines are restless ;). Cabin fever? Hehehe!

:( Diego Pic & Links

From the Diego camp... Here he is brandishing his new Steelers collar he got for Christmas, one of his owners is from Pittsburgh. I told his owner we wouldn't let him get sacked too hard in the Medium Roll, good thing all collars come off before play lol. Folks around these parts have a hard time forgetting 2006 (Refresh your memory with the "Reaction to officiating" portion) hahaha. Thanks for the picture! Click it to enlarge.

Season's Greetings from Diego & Miller
We received two awesome Christmas cards/photos recently (Click them to enlarge).
One from Diego. He is looking as sharp as ever posin' in front of the tree. Note that he is sporting some holiday accessories. So Vogue lol!

The other is from Main Man Miller. I think this one is spectacular, the card is an ornament that you can actually hangup. Miller is a natural dog-model putting on his best "Blue Steel" for this winter warming pic.
THANKS YOU TWO!!
A few dog related headlines from this afternoon:
Dog found three years later and 71 miles away (Pretty good but the last link tops this one!)
New dog for Christmas? (Some great info. here. We always meet a Xmas pup or two :)
Why dogs do the funny things they do (I really enjoyed this article, I've often wondered about several of the things mentioned, very cool.)
Man credits dog with saving his life (Another nice one where a dog saves the day.)
Dog returns home after 8-year, 2,700 mile trip (Holy Mackerel! Really ? LOL.)
Cheers,

Fantastic Diego Pics
Thanks to Diego's ma, Carla, for sending these in. Super funny! The first three are from Halloween and the others are from a recent trip back home to Germany. I'm not sure how he feels about dress-up but he is sure having a blast in that snow, how exciting, hahaha! Click on individual photos to enlarge them.

P.S. If you are looking for something to do this weekend you could try the Auburn Veteran's Day Marching Band Championships or something a bit saucier (bring a date), the 47th annual Heather Tartan Ball in Seattle. Tacoma's own and I will be playing at both events, of course. ;)
P.P.S. Remember, as always, if you have any fun photos of your pooch, please send them in. Everyone loves checking them out on our blog, it's fun to see the dogs doing there thing outside of The Fort.
My personal favorite, "Diego" Cobain, it's a shame, he was so young lol!
