Pics and Clips

Here are a few of the awesome photos that Fort Fido Staff Members have taken recently. Cute stuff!

For good measure, here are two fun clips that Fort Crew Member, Shaunte, took this morning.

Enjoy your weekend and this weather!

Howdy!

(Brix posing for the camera)

Checkout some of the sweet new toys and products that just came into The Fort!

We have some really awesome stuff from KONG. They now have many more good "interactive toys", to help keep the canine-brain stimulated. Some you can stuff with wet food or peanut butter, while others are to be used with dry kibble. Another cool thing KONG now has, is a frog squeaker toy that really lasts... At least compared to other squeaker toys we've come across.

There is also a real neat new line of poop bags and poop bag carries. One of the smartest products we have in now, is an all-in-one food bag clip/measuring cup. The same brand, DEXAS, also have a very clever collapsible bowl.

Last but not least, Cortez, is selling a tremendously good canine oral hygiene spray. It is really neat stuff made by PetzLife. "Corty" has even gotten Gibson and Marco Polo to try it. It freshens breath, while also keeping teeth and gums healthy. It's even safe for humans lol! Made in the USA and Veterinarian recommended.

No just for fun, here's a rad clip, taken today, of the "Handy Man" in action in the Little Roll.

All for now, take care,

Santa's elves came and visited!

Hey everyone!! Cortez here, just wanted to spread the word that Reindeer horns are in!! Santa sent a special shipment of carefully hand-selected, naturally shed antlers from the finest of flying fauna! These natural, long lasting dog chews are a fantastic way to entertain your pup, and a healthy and cost efficient alternative to rawhide and other animal products.

So be sure that on your next visit to The Fort you get them while they are Cold! Take a gander and get the best one!

We don't know about you, but Marco Polo and I have our eyes on a few prime pieces our selves.

Thanks for reading and be sure to tune in later this week to keep up on news here at the fort

4 clips

We have four really good clips for y'all today.

First up, from the Medium Roll, we have Jackson, showing young pups, Yuki and Pancake, how to play nice. My how you have matured Mr. Jackson lol, way to go! You sure have been helpful in keeping some of these wild youngbucks in line.

In the Big Roll... It was a bit of a "cuddle fest" haha. Brutus, Marco Polo, and Grady settled down into "neck fighting" (a type of play) after ripping around crazy for awhile. It's just like these three, tired, and still going for it!

Upstairs, in the Little Roll, Henry was the dog-man of the day. He, among others, was playing hard and having a blast. In this clip, you can also spot Tula, Marlee, Jaeger, Dolly, and Dwayne. Good times!

Take care,

-Grant

Kool Kona Pic and Clips

(Our badge pic of Kona doesn't do her justice lol, she was very excited that day, hence the blur.)

Kona's owner brought me in a marvelous picture of the ever so sweet Kona posing with the Christmas toy Fort Fido gave her. Thanks for the photo guys! We are glad you enjoyed it Miss Kona.

Here are a couple of clips from this morning.

Our Little Roll was having an awesome time today, that's fairly normal of course. I thought this clip was funny, every pup cheesin' for Nancy. Pearl even throws her own ball hahaha.

From the Medium Roll, we see that new friend of The Fort, Gus, is fitting in with the pack seamlessly. I should have recorded minutes later, Gus was taking on everyone, doing it well and having a great time.

Last but certainly not least, the Big Roll. McGee and Marco Polo are birds of a feather. There was a lot of action in there today amongst the big dogs but this clip seemed the best.

Take care,

-Grant

Happy Friday!

Here are some superb news articles that Hope found earlier today.

Dog and rooster alert family to fire

World's oldest dog dies

Dog rescues dumped kittens

Blind horses and dogs find sweet life on farm

Here are some clips from the rolls today.

First up, two from the Medium Roll.

Miss Black Bella has a blast here all the time, look at her make the rounds lol.

Fort Fido old-schoolers Annie (Lab Mix) and Sofee (Boston Terrier/Pug/French Bulldog Mix) have been best buddies for a few years now, they are some great dogs.

Two from the Big Roll as well...

Mollie and Polo played quite hard this morning, they can handle it though. ;)

Bubba, Max and Sam were an unstoppable trio of pals most of the day.

Last but not least, the Littles.

Buddy and Chloe go at it.

The chase is on in this one with Chloe for the win Haha! She usually steals the show up there, always doing something fun.

Happy Friday y'all, have a nice weekend,

Hello Monday

(Unfortunately the quality on this pic isn't that great, had to be scanned, it's an old one. Either way, this Big Mama tipped the scales at 160 pounds!)

Just a few article-links found this afternoon, enjoy!

After duty, dogs suffer like soldiers (Very sad, I most definitely believe it.)

Pooch has ruff time delivering 15 puppies (Whoa! Good thing you didn't have to do that Miura lol. Hard to believe it isn't even close to the record of 24, held by a Neapolitan Mastiff. We had one of those here at The Fort for awhile. She was a sweet yet tricky to handle gal named Olivia. Let's just say, she knocked one of us over once real good hahaha.)

Dogs of WWII (Interesting stuff here.)

Dog missing for eight years to be reunited with family (Now that's a holiday tale!)

Why do dogs howl at harmonicas? ( Funny, I know many pooches that do this... Not Gibson, however, it's easy to get most Huskies going... Marco Polo in particular.)

Dangerous dog policy in Pierce County deemed unconstitutional (Hmmm, this one is opening up a whole can of worms for sure.)

Scored a clip from the Xmas parade, in Enumclaw, the band and I attended. See if you can spot me. Here's a clue, I'm very Elf-Like hahaha. Sometimes ya just gotta go all out.

Take it easy,

Rufus The Lion

(Click Photo to Enlarge)

It's a bit hard to see in this pic but Rufus the Doodle got an extraordinarily awesome new hairdo lol! He asked for and received the "Lion Cut", although in this pic he looks more like a Camel because his Buddie's head blends in behind him looking like a hump haha.

Here is a clip of the lion-heart in action, of course, Marco Polo, has to make sure he is still "King of the Jungle". ;) He, among others, really enjoys Rufus's company due to his outstanding temperament.

Cheers,

Feel free to use the leashes

Some of you may have noticed the pile of slip-leads hanging behind the bench in our lobby. Please feel free to use them, that is what they are there for. I'm surprised we haven't put them out a long time ago. In a hurry, some folks forget to leash up there canine companion... It's usually no big deal but sometimes getting your pooch into The Fort can be tricky without a lead. Especially with a crazy-full lobby and parking lot. So anywho... If you've forgotten your leash or don't want to use yours for any reasonn, we'd truly appreciate it if you came in and grabbed one of ours to use. We need things to go as smoothly and safely as possible! We understand that your dog is exceptionally well trained, doesn't need a leash and is under perfect voice control... However, please, just humor us. ;)

Get a load of these clips from today.

New dog Brodie loves it here. In this clip, he tears it up with the infamous Marco Polo.

More Polo in this one as well as some German Shepherd Love featuring Ziva and Zodiac, those two gotta be a match made in heaven lol.

Two from the Medium Roll. This one is just a cross section of the good times these pups have.

The second clip I've titled "Kissy Face", I think you can see why hahaha. Buddha and Phoebe frequently make us chuckle.

Take care,

-Grant

A Sunny day of sprightly Sadie

In for her assessment today was young pup Sadie. She is a seven month old, fifty pound, rough-and-tumble, Golden Retriever. Sadie is perfect for the Medium Roll, she is rambunctious, very high energy but a good girl. She went straight to play with all the wild ones of our medium area. Marco Polo and Zeus were a few of her favorites. We are certain we'll be seeing more of Sadie soon. She is a healthy dog, the activeness of dog daycare is right up her alley. Way to go Sadie!

Stay cool folks,

-Grant
P.S. Here is a clip of Sadie's first meeting with Polo early in the AM, as you can see, it went well. I'm throwing in a fun clip of the Little Roll from this afternoon just for good measure. ;)

Luckily our new computer has arrived, yeah! We should be up and running with our new system in a couple of days. We are doing everything with a laptop right now and it is nice but not ideal. Blogger is having some issues with the laptop's browser/operating system. Hope was unable to get a Blog Post going on Saturday and I'm having trouble with this one lol.

For now, let us checkout a few clips from today.

In the Medium Roll, Emily, Mimi and Zeus busted moves off and on all day long. They are a quite the trio of pals.

From the Big Roll, Louis and Popo romp hard as usual.

Upstairs in the Little Roll we get another glimpse of "newbie" Phoebe Marie doing well. Here she does her best to get Lucy to play with her.

Enjoy the start of your week, looks like good weather shall be returning soon! At least we don't have to water anything today. ;)

the fun that is the

MEDIUM ROLL!

Jasmine, Marco Polo and Romeo had some good bouts this morning.

Later in the am, rip-roarin-wild-man (dog) Barkley continued to do what he does best, run with the big boys... This poodle has no fears and calls no man (dog) sir lol! :)

The last clip is some more Jasmine. This time she is finding some fun in new pup Jonsey and Fort Fido regular Niko.

A couple of pics...

From the Duck Daze Parade we participated in last Saturday.

The first picture is of University Place Fire Department Lieutenant Michelle Johnson (Long time Fido supporter, Dakota's ma), me and my dad (Dave).

The second picture adds Marco Polo and his cart, my wife JM, mom (Nancy) and Fido's head lol.

Happy Friday Y'all!

Looks like we will all be experiencing our first truly beautiful and warm summer-like weekend, hooray! All of us and our pets definitely need it.

The Fort Fido crew is also excited that the weather will be holding up for tomorrow's University Place Duck Parade! We will be marching in it so come by and check it out, please do say hello. "Fido" will be present tossing out candy to the kids and I may throw down a tune or two on the bagpipes. Look for Marco Polo to be pulling his cart, super cool! The parade kicks off at 10:00 AM at the corner of Bridgeport and 27th, it continues South to 37th where it will end at the Uptown 2011 Car Show (near the new Library). I say, grab a spot near the end, it seems like many folks congregate there.

Enjoy your weekend, I'm going to talk myself into swimming in the sound lol Brrr!

- Lively Louie -

Today we assessed Louie early in the AM. He is a fifty-eight pound, tan and white, Border Collie Mix. Louie hung out in the Medium Roll today and truly thrived. He communicates with other dogs well, it looked like he enjoyed himself. Louie is most definitely welcome back to The Fort. We think he'll be back in to mingle with the pack soon!

Here's a clip Of Louie and Marco Polo meeting up... Best buddies right off the bat! :)

Cheers,

Our Pumpkin Patch Trip :)

The wife, pups, folks and I took a trip to a really neat pumpkin patch/corn maze in Auburn last weekend. I thought you'd all enjoy some of our photos. We had Polo pulling our pumpkin cart (even me at one point, he is doing great at cart pulling) and Gibby posing for some Kodak moments lol.

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. It's not too late to checkout a patch, maze or haunted house. We found the patch we went to using this site.
