Sam

Today we welcomed Sam. Sam is a 55 lbs., 1 year old, lab mix. He didn't know what The Fort was for, or about, when he first arrived, however he caught on very quick. Sam entered into the large roll and, using his "dog speak" skills, got right along with Bertie and Oliver (check out below). We hope to see Sam return for some more fun soon.

Stay dry,

Sam & Nessa

Yesterday we met Sam. Sam is a 50-pound, 9 year old, black lab/beagle/bassett mix. He entered Fort Fido as if he had a thousand times before. As he was taken into the medium roll, I saw that his tail was up and his nose on investigate mode sniffing around. I noticed that he did a lot of mingling as well as resting in the medium roll. I am sure that Sam made a few friends thought the day.

Today we met Nessa. Nessa is a 80-pound, 5 year old, yellow lab. I watched her stroll into The Fort this morning and she knew this was a place to let loose and have fun. I saw her all over the large roll with the other pups and she was having a fabulous time with them. Luckily I caught a clip of her playing with Bob Marley. Take a peek below =)

I hope that we see both Sam and Nessie return for more fun soon!

Stay happy,

"Sam The Man"

Get to know a bit about Sam... He is a five year old, seventy-three pound, brindle, brown/black/white colored Mixed Breed, that had his assessment this morning. Sam stayed in Fort Fido's Big Roll play area. There, he did very well with the pack, wagging his tail, while happily greeting each dog that arrived. In the past, Sam attended a Dog Daycare up North as a regular, so it was no surprise to us, when he fit into the group easily. A cheerful canine, Sam, continued to enjoy his first visit to The Fort, throughout the duration of his four hour stay. He played hard and fast with several different dogs, which was exciting to see. Awesome job today Sam! We shall run into you again soon.

Here's two little clips of Sam having a blast with Theodore and Marty.

Take care,

-Grant

Yuki-Sam Twins

Every once in awhile at Fort Fido, we get some absolutely identical looking canine guests. Believe it or not, at times it can be very difficult to tell two dogs apart. One must really study the individual dogs, to find identifying attributes, then share their findings with the rest of the staff (on our communication boards).

Most importantly, when the owners arrive, we must know without a shadow of a doubt, who's who! It can be surprisingly tricky, for instance, on a "Chocolate Lab Day", when there are seven of the same breed in one play-area, to figure out exactly who "Coco" is, amongst a sea of super-similar chocolates lol... They have a tendency to melt together, especially when five+ customers arrive at once for pick-up, and you are on the fly. Luckily, we've developed some tricks, in order to make certain we know which dog is which at all times.

;)

Currently, other than a handful of Labrador Retrievers, and a couple of English Springer Spaniels, the most perplexing twin duo has to be Yuki and Sam. Both high-energy Shibu Inus, Yuki & Sam poses matching physical features, as well as matching personalities and play-styles! They are also about the same age.

They just look so darn similar...

Don't believe me? Checkout these photos we took of the "Terrible Twosome" (only kidding of course) yesterday. They are the definition of "Bash Brothers", they love to play together, hard, fast, and furiously. Click on the individual photos to enlarge them.

Hahaha, I know right? Almost indistinguishable!

Be well,

-Grant

Christmas Buddy and Clips

Checkout this great photo of Fort Fido's very own "Buddy" with Santa Claus. It turned out real nice but my scanner didn't do it justice. Buddy's owner told me that Bud snagged Santa's beard right before the shoot, haha, typical Buddy style! Also, notice that Mrs. Claus had to fill in for the Jolly guy in this pic lol.

Remember, send us in your holiday pet photos (or any pet photos for that matter), they are all Blog worthy and we love receiving them.

Clips from today:

Two different colored "Golden Retrievers", Lulu & Sam played hard today.

The Medium Roll was as wild and boisterous as any day.

The Little Roll was also it's high-energy, fun-loving self.

Softhearted Sam

Say hello to Sam! She is a four year old, eighty pound, Golden Retriever that had her assessment this morning. Like a typical Fort Fido Golden, Sam had a blast here. We started her off in our Big Dog Roll and that proved to be the perfect fit for Sam's play-style and temperament. She communicated with the other pack members graciously and had a good hardy run of play. Sam is welcome back to The Fort anytime, we look forward to seeing her regularly.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A special thank you goes out to all of our amazing customers. We are truly thankful for your business and gallant support!

:)

-Grant
P.S. I'll leave you with some clips from today, one features Sam. Don't forget, we will be closed tomorrow and Friday. See you Saturday!

- Clip Day -

Check out these great clips from The Rolls today!

Up first is one of Boxer Sam and Yellow Lab Big-Boy Ryker sharing in some fun.

Two from the Medium Roll.

Gordon, Jasmine, Emily and Marley were tearing it up, a very normal occurrence lol.

Barkley and Niko have been buddies for some time now, Jasmine, has also been welcomed into their session.

Upstairs was your daily crazy-ball-time. The Littles sure learn how to retrieve well due to the constant stream of tossed-toys. It's fun up there, for the dogs and the "Wrangler".

One more clip from the Little Roll features busy-gal Samarah enjoying a jolly time with the loveable Gherie. ;)

Take care,

Great Photo & Clips

Check out Sammy here... King of the Little-Tikes-Toy. Sam is a long time member of Fort Fido's Little Pack, one of the King's of the Little Roll really. He is a four year old Shih Tzu and is quite the character. Nobody pulls one over on old Sam, that I guarantee lol.

Here is a great shot of Mr. Jack (a four year old, brindle, Boxer Mix, long-timer) having a blast in the Medium Roll like he always does. On a sidenote... Our hearts go out to Jack and his family. Unfortunately his big brother Duke (longtime Big Roll member) is going through some serious medical issues. Hopefully Duke will be able to overcome them. Get well Buddy, we know you can do it!

Ending this post with two sweet clips from the Little Roll. It was fun, fast and furious up there today (kinda like the weather)! The clips show Samarah in fiesty bouts of wrestle play and neck-fighting. First she romps hard with little Chloe (Don't let her size fool ya) then has a duel with the happy-go-lucky Raleigh . Cute stuff here folks. ;)

Cheers,

-Grant

A Clip Day

In this clip from the Big Roll; Charly, Lulu, Mollie and Sam have a great pack-run-moment.

One from the Medium Roll shows Fort Fido regular Niko doing what he does best, this dog can play well and play hard!

Two from the Little Roll. One is just a cross section of the pack, the other, shows Frizzy and Samarah enjoying a feisty bout of play.

Cheers,

-Grant

1 big 2 med

Here are a couple of good ones from the Medium Roll. The first is of Barkley and Mimi egging on Miss Phoenix, very funny! Although it looks a bit "wild" in this clip, they are all buddies. The second clip shows Bella and Gibby having some fun while Chance and Lucy do the same in the corner. It sure was a good medium group today.

Our last clip is a bit of neck fighting from the Big Roll this morning. It features Boxers Stella and Sam rolling around with Black Lab Truman.

First up we have lab-mix Denali and boxer Sam playing together. These two were buddies all day long.

Next is a clip of a handful of wild labs-- Buddy, Ryker, and Pepper were caught on camera running like mad. Those guys sure are full of energy!
