Bustling Barkley

Deja vu? We had the pleasure of assessing another gorgeous Italian Greyhound today at The Fort. Meet Barkley! He is a one year old, fourteen pound, black and white colored Italian Greyhound. Although just slightly more "mild mannered" than Petey from Yesterday, Barkley, also tried our Medium Roll on for size... It was extremely fitting for him too!

These Italian Greyhounds look delicate and can come off a bit fragile, yet the ones we've come across over the years, are anything but. They're all dog! Ready to socialize, play fearlessly, and have a good time. Physically their skin is thin, but luckily we've never had a problem with any of them "breaking it". Knock on wood lol. Scratches however, can show up more easily on skin/coats like theirs, and sometimes come with the territory of high-paced play.

Mr. Barkley entered the play area somewhat bewildered. After Lucy arrived though, Barkley's demeanor did a complete three-sixty! As the two exchanged sniffs, they went from just meeting, to playing, in no time at all. Barkley's contentment and happiness progressed throughout his visit, as he got to know, and play with, several of our pack members. We look forward to Barkley's return, and think it will really be fun, if and when, him and Petey cross paths. Good times. We'll see ya at Fort Fido again soon Barkley!

Here you'll see Barkley and Lucy in action:

Be well,

Cheerful Barkley

This morning, The Fort welcomed Mister Barkley. Barkley is a thirty pound one-year-old Irish Terrier whom loves to play. He came in curious as to what The Fort was and what to do here. After meeting some other pack members, like Kaya (as seen in the video below), and learning that he was not here for a "vet visit" he warmed up to the others and began to have a wonderful time playing with the pack in the medium roll. Barkley also determined that this was similar to a dog park (although different) since he was able to interact with fellow pack members. Barkley is continuing to relax and play with the pack while enjoying his time here. He is prepared to return to Fort Fido, elated to see and make new friends.

Welcome to Fort Fido,
- Zach

Pretty Lexi

This morn we had Lexi in for her assessment. She is a five year old, eighteen pound, chocolate colored, Miniature Poodle. Lexi is a very good looking dog, and it is almost as if she could be related to Medium Roll Regular, Barkley. She hung out upstairs in The Fort's Little Roll. Lexi didn't do half bad here today, she frolicked a bit, and met with a few different canines. Lexi wasn't really into playing, however, she was very comfortable with the Dog Daycare environment. We may not see Lexi a whole heck of a lot, but we shall be seeing her for a Overnight Boarding stay sometime down the road.

Lexi and Barkley are only a few months apart in age, darn close, and almost close enough for me to say "separated at birth", but not quite lol. Keep in mind, this is Barkley's baby-badge-picture, he's only three months old in this shot.

Have a nice weekend,

A few clips...

From today!

It was a really good mix upstairs in the Little Roll. Gherie was quite the baller, and he played hard, as he usually does. The rest of the Little Pack had fun as well.

In the Medium Roll, Barkley and Gracie, shared in some "doodle love" lol.

Also in the Medium Roll, Georgie and Molly, chased each other around for a good portion of the day. They're like "two peas in a pod".

Take it easy,

-Grant

I-N-V-U-4-U-R-A-Q-T

Yuck, yuck, yuck...

Here are the little "QT's" from today's upstairs roll... Don't let them fool you though, these Muppets are fierce (in a healthy way of course lol)! Once they enter Fort Fido and meetup with the pack, they become 110% Canine, "all dog" if you will. ;)

There was also a short clip of Barkley, Bogie and Lucy having a good old time downstairs in the Medium Roll.

Cheers,

-Grant

The Norwegian Elkhounds

What a neat breed!

Meet Ranger & Scandi. Ranger is a five year old, seventy-eight pound, good looking Norwegian Elkhound that stayed in our Big Roll. Scandi, Ranger's brother, is a three year old, ninety-five pound, handsome Norwegian Elkhound who ventured into our Medium Roll.

Both Ranger and Scandi did very well today at The Fort, definitely passing their assessments. Each dog communicated rather adeptly with the other pack members and enjoyed their stay. Brother Scandi was a bit more interested in play than Ranger. Even though rowdy-play wasn't on his agenda, Ranger blended in with the pack seamlessly.

Ranger and Scandi are best buddies with Fort Fido regular Barkley, they play outside of here often. The Elkhounds have taught Barkley much of his "Dog Speak" and have honed his "Pack Skills". This has been quite beneficial for Barkley's development as a "Dog's Dog", he can run with the best of them and isn't your typical Miniature Poodle lol.

First rate job today boys, we'll see ya next week!

Cheers!

Several Clips

Starting off with one of Jasmine, Macs and Zeus rough housing in the Medium Roll...

And another one from the wild and wooly Medium Roll.

Here is a shot of today's Big Roll from the stairs lol, twas a nice vantage point.

I followed Gherie up to the Little Roll today, it ended up being pretty cute although we need a new camera... Been saying that for awhile now. It'll happen, gotta break this one more first.

Jaeger put an end to this last great clip we had going haha, we have to edit out certain things. ;)

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. YouTube has been funky today, some clips, or at least the last one, might not load, sorry. It's not my fault I swear!

Cool Clips and a Happy Birthday to Tazzie!

One from the Big Roll and three from the Medium Roll... Sorry Little Roll, we'll get ya soon! ;)

Mollie and Ziva, among many others we had in there today, were getting along like two peas in a pod.

New puppy-boy Bear has been branching out nicely. Here he starts to romp with Macs and Otto.

Emily and Phoebe are best friends. They are a very good match as far as size and play-style are concerned... You can see what I mean in this clip.

Another set of best buds, Barkley and Diego roughhouse a lot when they meet, usually twice a week.

Happy Birthday to Miss Tazzie! She turned the big "five years old" today. Her ma Lisa was kinda enough to bring in treats for all (Including some for us, thank you kindly!), be sure to grab some treats for your pup on the way out. Sorry, the donuts we received are pretty much gone lol. :)

Take care,

-Grant

From the Big Roll we have a clip of new pals Copper and Zodiac, it's great to see these two get some energy out. Don't mind Ryker relieving himself haha, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Two from the Medium Roll. One showing the love affair that is "Barkley & Kona". The other clip is to show that new pup Bogie is doing just fine in the Medium Roll lol... Here he takes down a boxer!

SHOTS - LINKS

Our very first customer, Faramir AKA Wubbie (among other aliases), tore it up right today with Beagle Mix buddy, Buddha, in the Medium Roll.

Also from medium, Barkley did what he does best here everyday... Stir the pot! :)

Everything was normal in the Little Roll, they're off to the ball races, every pups favorite sport.

In the Big Roll, Abby, Abby and Ziva were an unstoppable trio.

- Clip Day -

Check out these great clips from The Rolls today!

Up first is one of Boxer Sam and Yellow Lab Big-Boy Ryker sharing in some fun.

Two from the Medium Roll.

Gordon, Jasmine, Emily and Marley were tearing it up, a very normal occurrence lol.

Barkley and Niko have been buddies for some time now, Jasmine, has also been welcomed into their session.

Upstairs was your daily crazy-ball-time. The Littles sure learn how to retrieve well due to the constant stream of tossed-toys. It's fun up there, for the dogs and the "Wrangler".

One more clip from the Little Roll features busy-gal Samarah enjoying a jolly time with the loveable Gherie. ;)

Later in the am, rip-roarin-wild-man (dog) Barkley continued to do what he does best, run with the big boys... This poodle has no fears and calls no man (dog) sir lol! :)

The last clip is some more Jasmine. This time she is finding some fun in new pup Jonsey and Fort Fido regular Niko.

1 big 2 med

Here are a couple of good ones from the Medium Roll. The first is of Barkley and Mimi egging on Miss Phoenix, very funny! Although it looks a bit "wild" in this clip, they are all buddies. The second clip shows Bella and Gibby having some fun while Chance and Lucy do the same in the corner. It sure was a good medium group today.

Our last clip is a bit of neck fighting from the Big Roll this morning. It features Boxers Stella and Sam rolling around with Black Lab Truman.

FFFFriday

It has been a busy week for us here at Fort Fido but or course that is a good thing. March tends to be our busiest month at The Fort and things are already picking up as we get halfway through February. There has been a number of new dogs and old dogs returning... We have also been busy sprucing up for our open house on Sunday March 6th. We hope that you all will attend. We truly appreciate your continuous support.

Evy (kumpi@earthlink.net), owner of Kumpi emailed me a impressive video clip. Check it out here. What a neat trick, that dog can really dunk! He dribbles darn good too!

I'll leave you with a snippet from today's Medium Roll starring Rainier, Walter, Romeo, Otto and Sophie-Alice. With special appearances by Barkley's and Chewy's head haha.

Have a great weekend,

-Grant
P.S. Nobody forget Valentines Day now! Your special sweetie could get miffed if you did lol, it is this coming Monday the 14th, as usual. I'm glad I have just reminded myself. ;)
