Azul & Huck

This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Azul. She is a four-year-old, seventy-five-pound, Chow Chow. Azul hung out in our Large Dog Program where she enjoyed mingling with the other dogs. She had a great first day, and is welcome back any time. We look forward to seeing her again soon.

Huck came in for his assessment yesterday morning. He is a one-year-old, fifty-six-pound, Australian Shepherd mix. Huck joined our Medium Dog Program and had a blast playing with Ollie the Whippet. Huck did a great job and passed his assessment with flying colors. We hope to see him again soon.

Happy New Year!

Cano & Charlie

Yesterday we Assessed the kindly Cano here at The Fort. He is a one year old, thirty-five pound, cream colored, Labradoodle. Cano came in Chipper and happy to be here. We escorted him to the Medium Roll, where he entered without a care. After sniffing around a bit, we had him begin to meet the pack. Cano first met up with Jupiter, and within seconds, the two dogs became playmates! It is quite clear that Cano is no stranger to canine communication and socialization. He is already a Dog Daycare Veteran, as he attended another Daycare in the past as a pup. Cano was an absolute pleasure to have in here, we hope he becomes one of our regulars!

Checkout Cano in action with Jupiter.

This morning the Fort Fido Team had, Charlie, in for his Assessment Day. Charlie is a three year old, thirteen pound, Miniature Poodle Mix. This cute little fella jaunted with us upstairs to the Little Roll. Inside, he explored his new found surroundings with his nose to the ground. Once he got settled, it was time for Charlie to meet the other canines... Which he did pleasantly. Charlie had no problems fitting in with the play group and having a good time. When "Ball Time" started, Charlie loved it. He chased after the thrown toys, and really enjoyed pursuing the pack as they chased after toys. We are pleased that Charlie had a nice time here today. He is most welcome anytime.

First-rate jobs Cano and Charlie, way to be!

Enjoy your weekend, and have fun at The Open if you attend.

Our latest members!

Here's a glimpse of our latest Fort Fido Members.

Tommy had his assessment yesterday, he is a regal Jack Russell Terrier, that fits nicely into our Medium Roll. We hope to see some more "play" out of him, but he is doing good.

Today we met Yabisi, or "Yabby". She is a sweet and curious Doberman Pinscher Mix, that is chock-full of energy.

Both Tommy and Yabisi our taking advantage of The Fort's awesome Overnight Boarding soon. If you haven't already, you and your canine companion should give it a go the next time you are out of town. It's really nice, because the dogs get to stay in their play groups throughout the night, and, are monitored by a real-live-human around the clock, 24/7, 365.

Also, remember that our hours never change. No matter the holiday, we are here for you with the same hours, 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM Daily. That is our "13 Hour Daycare Day" and your window for boarding pickups and drop-offs... Talk about convenient!

Have a wonderful weekend,

-Grant
P.S. If you are looking for some spring fun this weekend, don't forget that tomorrow is the 82nd Annual Daffodil Festival Parade. Drop Fido off here and go check it out! :)

Yo, suds up!

I would like to remind everybody about a great event Fort Fido has coming up... Partnering with The Soggy Doggy Dog Wash and SUNDogs, of University Place, The Fort is participating in the "Spruce Up Fido" Dog Wash fundraiser. It's going to be a blast, and we hope you'll all mark your calendars to attend.

It is on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Fort Fido Crew will be there to wash your pooch for you, or with you, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Normal Soggy Doggy wash rates will apply. All proceeds that The Soggy Doggy acquires, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, will be going to, and benefiting, the new off-leash dog park that the SUNDogs have in the works. When the Fort Fido hour begins, at 6:00 pm, all proceeds The Soggy Doggy takes in, will be donated to the SUNDogs, for the off-leash dog park project, on behalf of The Fort. Super cool!

For those that do not know, the current off-leash dog park, located on the Chambers Creek Properties, and "in" the golf course lol, has always been "temporary". It has basically been an experiment since its inception. Things have been going well with it over the past few years, so it looks like the people in charge will be allowing it to continue. So now it is time to get ourselves a permanent off-leash dog park spot! Which of course, requires some fundraising.

So please, come on down to The Soggy Doggy, December 3rd, anytime between 4:00 and 8:00 pm, to show your support for our cities off-leash dog park. We hope to see you there! Besides, it will be wayyy easier for you to let us wash Fido for you, or at least let us help you with the chore. It's never fun ending up like some of the canines and owners in this classic clip:

Hahaha!

Be well,

-Grant
P.S. Also, the UP Fire Department will be visiting with an engine that day, at 4:30 pm. At 5:30 pm, folks get a chance to meet up with University Place Council Member, Caroline Belleci... Last but not least, if you show up, you will receive a $2 off coupon for the ever-popular, Santa Paws Photo Shoot, happening on December 7th.

Bath Time

Do you give your dog a bath at home? Sometimes I do. Other times, I take my pooch to The Soggy Doggy in University Place. For me, it is much faster, easier, and, I don't make a big old mess at home. Give the place a try and see how you like it.

If you do the Bath Time thing at home, checkout these articles I found. You might find a tip that will make the job more efficient...

When it's time to take the plunge

You don't want you and your dog to end up like this every time the word "Bath" is uttered:

LOL!

Be well,

Hardy Holly

This morning we had the pleasure of assessing Holly. She is a nine year old, sixty-five pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever. Holly stayed with us in our Medium Roll, and did well. She is a dog park Veteran, well versed in "Dog Speak", and highly socialized. Holly was quite an asset to us today, due to her "mothering energy", she can handle any dog that comes her way... And she is especially good with young pups, of which, we have several in the Medium Play Area right now.

One neat fact, is that Holly's owners are the heads of the wonderful organization that is SUNDogs, in University Place. They are responsible for getting the city's lovely Dog Park on the Chambers Bay Properties. We have worked a bit with the SUNDogs group over the years, and truly appreciate what they do for the canine community. Our hats are off to them and their efforts! My dog Gibson loves running around down there at the off leash park, thank you!

Way to go today Holly, you are welcome at Fort Fido anytime! We look forward to seeing you for Overnight Boarding this summer.

Take care all,

-Grant

Happy Friday Y'all!

Looks like we will all be experiencing our first truly beautiful and warm summer-like weekend, hooray! All of us and our pets definitely need it.

The Fort Fido crew is also excited that the weather will be holding up for tomorrow's University Place Duck Parade! We will be marching in it so come by and check it out, please do say hello. "Fido" will be present tossing out candy to the kids and I may throw down a tune or two on the bagpipes. Look for Marco Polo to be pulling his cart, super cool! The parade kicks off at 10:00 AM at the corner of Bridgeport and 27th, it continues South to 37th where it will end at the Uptown 2011 Car Show (near the new Library). I say, grab a spot near the end, it seems like many folks congregate there.

Enjoy your weekend, I'm going to talk myself into swimming in the sound lol Brrr!
