Lola

Lola came to the The Fort for her Assessment today. She is a six year old, ten pound, fawn colored, Chihuahua Mix. Lola is really cute and sweet, and kind of reminds us of a female Cortez lol! Upstairs in the Little Roll, Lola sniffed around a lot, finding out everything she could about her new-found play area. As other canines began to arrive, Lola seemed excited to greet them. She met with them properly, and had no problems socializing. Towards the end of her stay, she even began to bust out into a little bit of play. We plan on seeing her for some future Overnight Boarding visits, and believe that she'll really have a blast on her next go around. Swell job today Lola, the Fort Fido crew is happy to have ya, and we look forward to seeing you again.

Have a nice weekend,

-Grant

Howdy!

(Brix posing for the camera)

Checkout some of the sweet new toys and products that just came into The Fort!

We have some really awesome stuff from KONG. They now have many more good "interactive toys", to help keep the canine-brain stimulated. Some you can stuff with wet food or peanut butter, while others are to be used with dry kibble. Another cool thing KONG now has, is a frog squeaker toy that really lasts... At least compared to other squeaker toys we've come across.

There is also a real neat new line of poop bags and poop bag carries. One of the smartest products we have in now, is an all-in-one food bag clip/measuring cup. The same brand, DEXAS, also have a very clever collapsible bowl.

Last but not least, Cortez, is selling a tremendously good canine oral hygiene spray. It is really neat stuff made by PetzLife. "Corty" has even gotten Gibson and Marco Polo to try it. It freshens breath, while also keeping teeth and gums healthy. It's even safe for humans lol! Made in the USA and Veterinarian recommended.

No just for fun, here's a rad clip, taken today, of the "Handy Man" in action in the Little Roll.

All for now, take care,

Santa's elves came and visited!

Hey everyone!! Cortez here, just wanted to spread the word that Reindeer horns are in!! Santa sent a special shipment of carefully hand-selected, naturally shed antlers from the finest of flying fauna! These natural, long lasting dog chews are a fantastic way to entertain your pup, and a healthy and cost efficient alternative to rawhide and other animal products.

So be sure that on your next visit to The Fort you get them while they are Cold! Take a gander and get the best one!

We don't know about you, but Marco Polo and I have our eyes on a few prime pieces our selves.

Thanks for reading and be sure to tune in later this week to keep up on news here at the fort

Back to it with new pal Astro!

Meet Astro! He is a good looking, one year old, eight pound, Chihuahua / Miniature Pinscher Mix. Astro is the new "little brother" of Fort Fido mainstay, Miss Cleo, who has been attending The Fort since 2007!

Now Astro hung out in the Little Roll. He didn't do half bad up there, but you could tell he wasn't certain of why he was here. Of course, when it was time for him to leave, he finally began to play with Cortez in the lobby lol. That is most definitely a good sign. Given time and consistency, we are pretty sure that this little fella will be rammin' and jammin', with the best of the Little Roll Pack, soon. Well done Astro, I've got an inkling we'll  be seeing ya around.

:)

Have a great day,

Jovial Josie

This morning we assessed the rather good looking, young dog, Josie! She is a very bright and sparky, one year old, fourteen pound, Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound Mix. Now Josie is one nice canine. She stayed with us in the Little Roll, where Mr.Cortez took quite a liking to her lol. Although Josie didn't play a bunch, she was happy, content, and seemed to enjoy her stay. As more dogs arrived and the pack grew, Josie became even more comfortable in her new surroundings. She was a pleasure to have here at Fort Fido, we are excited to have her here for Overnight Boarding too. Tremendous job Josie!

Take it easy,

-Grant
P.S. Just a reminder, The Fort, is a great place for your canine to be during the 4th of July... Especially if they aren't too fond of all the "firework action". Let them spend the day and or night with us. It is much more calming and fun for them here. We still have spots available!

Genuine Gigi

Get a load of this! We've just received another ultra-good-looking, Cortez-like dog at Fort Fido. Meet Gigi, she is a friendly, eight year old, ten pound, Rat Terrier. Now Gigi is a rescue, her new owners, are doing a superb job helping her adjust to new surroundings. We highly commend them for doing what is best for Gigi and guiding her down the right path, way to go you two! Little Gigi is quite sweet and she didn't do half bad upstairs in the Little Roll. She got along just fine with the other dogs. Given some time and consistency, we believe Gigi will become even more comfortable at The Fort. Who knows, she may even bust out into play. We shall keep our fingers crossed! :)

Take it easy,

Pleasant Pippin

(He's somewhat like that character haha... Alright, I'll stop with the LOTR references.)

Meet Pippin, he is an incredibly sweet, nine month old, ten pound, black & white colored, Rat Terrier/Chihuahua Mix.

Pippin spent his time here in the Medium Rolled and absolutely flourished! He is very courageous, playing well with other pack members of all sizes. His exceptionally warm personality, won over the pack, as well as our staff. Pippin had a great first day at Fort Fido and he may attend whenever he pleases. Funny, he seriously reminds us of another little dog that we know.

Here is a little shot of Pippin in action with Fort regular Sheldon. These two thoroughly enjoyed each other's company this morning.

Enjoy your day,

-Grant

Sweet St. Nick Flower Dog

(Click Photos To Enlarge)

Buddy's ma, Bonnie, sent us an amazing flower arrangement from Buds & Blooms. It is multiple flowers shaped into a very artistic "Santa Dog". Thank you very much Bonnie, this pup brightened our day and has gotten many a compliment! Cortez couldn't help himself, he just had to pose with the new Santy.

This morning I found two good links from MSN.

The first link is actually from the Today Show. It is the Top 11 Animal Stories from 2011 and there are some tremendous ones. Although not all the stories are canine related, several of them are. ;)

Now, I have seen this next link before and it cracked me up, some folks think it's creepy, I guess I'm somewhere in the middle lol. Checkout the book, Yoga Dogs. I was reminded about this book while glancing at MSN's Humorous Holiday Gifts.

Have a great weekend!

-Grant
P.S. Christmas is right around the corner... If you need to get some "Holiday Things" done without Fido's help, feel free to drop him or her into The Fort. Please note, we are NOT closing or changing our hours of operation in the month of December this year.
