Ramses, Sassy & Sammy

Yesterday, we met Ramses. He is a 1 year old, 60 pound, red brindle, Pit Bull/Boxer Mix. Ramses had a great first day here at the Fort. He joined our large pack, where he quickly made new friends. His favorite was Zoe the Boxer. We look forward to seeing Ramses again soon.

This morning we assessed Sammy & Sassy, two Dachshunds from the same family. Sammy is a 7 year old, red, dachshund. Sassy is a 7 year old, brown, long-haired Dachshund. They both joined the small pack, where they enjoyed mingling with the other dogs. They both did a great job today, and are welcome back anytime.

Have a great weekend,
- Gary

Pics and Clips

Here are a few of the awesome photos that Fort Fido Staff Members have taken recently. Cute stuff!

For good measure, here are two fun clips that Fort Crew Member, Shaunte, took this morning.

Happy-Hardy-Haley

Feast your eyes on this fine specimen, Haley. She came into The Fort this morning, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, for her assessment. This darn cute, four month old, forty pound, German Shepherd Mix, is fun and full of energy. Her "Uncle", Sammy, is a Medium Roll Regular. The twosome, frequent the local dog parks, and routinely have a blast at them. Luckily for us, Sammy has been helping Haley learn how to play, socialize, and speak good "Dog". It most definitely shows, because Haley did an outstanding job here today, acting as if she had already been here many times before. She is welcome to come back to Fort Fido anytime.

Take a gander at these two clips of Haley, playing with Georgie and Molly. Please excuse the contrast, it's hard to see Black Lab Pup Molly against our dark colored floor lol.

Happy Valentine's Day,

-Grant

Say there Sammy

Meet Sammy! He is a very handsome, two year old, forty pound, black/white & brown colored, Border Collie Mix. Sammy is a rescue dog that has fit in well with his forever-family. He tried out The Fort today, to get ready for some future Overnight Boarding. Sammy stayed with us in The Medium Roll and wasn't exactly sure what to make of it at first. As the pack grew, Sammy relaxed into his new social scene well. We think Sammy did a good job here today. In time, hopefully he will become even more comfortable here, let his "hair down", and get some more play time in. Fine work this morning Sammy, we look forward to your return.

Be well,

-Grant
P.S. One cool fact about Sammy, his owner is a University Place Firefighter, who recently helped us on our latest Fire Inspection.

Ginger and Macey keep them groovin'

Hotdog! I thought the clip we scored yesterday was good... Get a load of these two clips from today.

First up, we see Ginger runnin' amok (BTW I'm using that phrase in a jokingly good way lol.) upstairs in the Little Roll. She has been having a blast here at The Fort since her first day. She also has been getting the Little Pack to engage in lots of play... Not just ball time play. From wrastlin' to chase-me games, this little dog does it all with any pup that can keep up. Gherie, Marlee, and Riley, were just a few of Ginger's chums this visit.

In the Medium Roll, Ginger's big sister, Macey, had her "Whirling Dervish" impression on par with Gingers hahaha. Macey has been playing strong with several dogs from our ranks. Today, she sprinted around the most, with young dogs Pancake and Sammy.

Take it easy,

-Grant
P.S. If you like Tim Burton, his style, and or, quirky canine-related films lol... Checkout "Frakenweenie"! It is available in those Redbox machines right now. It's a great movie, especially if you enjoyed The Nightmare Before Christmas or Coraline.

Ginger & Macey

Meet Ginger & Macey, two swell dogs, from the same family, that assessed this morning.

Ginger, is a four month old, eleven pound, red & black colored, Shiba Inu. She did rather well upstairs in the Little Roll. Ginger is a very sweet spirited canine. She played with Dixie, Pearl and just about any dog that was game.

Macey, is a one year old, about twenty pound, black & white colored, Border Collie. Now at first, Macey was not sure why she was here lol... But, once she began to figure things out in the Medium Roll, she started having lots of fun. This dog wasted no time getting in on the action, once she was situated. Macey enjoyed herself, playing with Marley and Sammy, among others.

Both Ginger and Macey were a pleasure to take care of today. We highly anticipate their return!

Take care,

-Grant

Sassy Sammy

Meet Sammy! He is a three month old, twenty-one pound, black and white colored, Puggle (Beagle/Pug Mix) that had his assessment this morning. We put Sammy in the Medium Play Area. He really wasn't sure what to think of things at first, we weren't even sure that he would "bust out" in play... Lucky for us and his owners, he did! After about an hour in the Medium Roll, Sammy not doing too much, Gus arrived. He began to pull out all the stops (Playbows, spins, face-licking etc...) to get the new recruit to play and wouldn't ya know it, Sammy went for it. From that point on it was "game over" for the sitting-around stuff. Sammy began to play like there was no tomorrow, with several different pack members. He truly enjoyed himself. Swell job this morning Sammy, you are welcome to The Fort anytime. A special thanks to Gus for helping us out, he really got this Puggle-guy moving in the right direction. I'll end this post with three fine clips of the Sam Man warming up to the gang.

Enjoy your weekend,

-Grant
P.S. Another Puggle that is a friend of Fort Fido is Buddha. When that fella comes, look out! He's always tearing it up. :)

Super Sammy

The other day I mentioned that I would tell ya about the new pup, Sammy, that we assessed. Here is the scoop!

Sammy is a three and a half month old, twenty-six+ pound, Yellow Colored Labradoodle. He is currently enrolled in our Group Training Class (one more week left, good job students!) with Garrett Stevens and new puppy Bear. So, with that said, Sammy has already played a bit with other dogs at The Fort before we even met him lol! This convivial canine is a typical, happy-go-lucky pup. He did a fine job with the others in the Medium Roll pack and romped for a long duration with that little Bear fella, among others. Sammy, like Bear, may or may not graduate to the Big Roll in time. For now, he is doing just fine in the Medium Roll and was a pleasure to have here at Fort Fido. We hope to see Sammy in here again soon, nice job bud!

Enjoy your weekend! I am definitely looking forward to it and it starts tonight for me with the Masters of Scottish Arts Concert at Benaroya Hall. Speaking of Bagpipes.... My band's 49th Annual Tartan Ball is coming up soon. Saturday March 24th, 8:00PM at The Puyallup Fairgrounds Pavilion. Please do attend if interested and say hello. I'll buy ya whatever beverage you fancy.

;)

-Grant
P.S. Almost forgot! Here are two clips I saved from Wednesday that have some Sammy in them... Mostly Bogie though lol. They don't really do him justice but at least you get a peak, by the time these were captured, he was getting tired.

Slightly Stressful

Howdy folks... Those "Lines" coming down yesterday definitely put a wrench in The Fort's day to day operations. Thank goodness we are back online now! Thanks to everyone for bearing with us during this hectic moment. I'm going to leave you with one nice and long clip from the Little Roll and some photos I took of the "Incident". Workers from Comcast, CenturyLink and The City have been working around the clock to get things back in order. Thanks guys and gals! Some lines were jacked-up as far back as the Nursery near Cheers!

A Fircrest Police Officer happens to be the First Responder. The guy next to him was the Truck Driver, poor dude, if he wasn't having a bad day already lol!

Click this one above to enlarge it.

Same with this one, you can really see the damage. Apparently our pole is a real central-hub for many different types of connections. We were told it "Isn't a simple splice job". Hahaha!

Man, sometimes lunch time is exciting.

Take care,

-Grant
P.S. We did have an assessment today... I'll be telling you about new pup, Sammy, at a later date, we have a lot going on right now! ;)

Great Photo & Clips

Check out Sammy here... King of the Little-Tikes-Toy. Sam is a long time member of Fort Fido's Little Pack, one of the King's of the Little Roll really. He is a four year old Shih Tzu and is quite the character. Nobody pulls one over on old Sam, that I guarantee lol.

Here is a great shot of Mr. Jack (a four year old, brindle, Boxer Mix, long-timer) having a blast in the Medium Roll like he always does. On a sidenote... Our hearts go out to Jack and his family. Unfortunately his big brother Duke (longtime Big Roll member) is going through some serious medical issues. Hopefully Duke will be able to overcome them. Get well Buddy, we know you can do it!

Ending this post with two sweet clips from the Little Roll. It was fun, fast and furious up there today (kinda like the weather)! The clips show Samarah in fiesty bouts of wrestle play and neck-fighting. First she romps hard with little Chloe (Don't let her size fool ya) then has a duel with the happy-go-lucky Raleigh . Cute stuff here folks. ;)

Cheers,

-Grant
