Pennie

Pennie became a member of Fort Fido today. Pennie is an 8 month-old, 37 lbs., Lab & Border Collie Mix. She quickly discovered our lobby and shortly after made her way into our Medium Dog Program. Once she began to meet other canine friends Pennie opened up and was quite the active pup. She made some awesome friends today and we hope to see Pennie again soon. 🙂

Sam

Today we welcomed Sam. Sam is a 55 lbs., 1 year old, lab mix. He didn't know what The Fort was for, or about, when he first arrived, however he caught on very quick. Sam entered into the large roll and, using his "dog speak" skills, got right along with Bertie and Oliver (check out below). We hope to see Sam return for some more fun soon.

Uno

Today we welcomed Uno. He is a 7 year-old yellow lab. At the first sight of this place, Uno was ready to join the others. He entered into the large roll and began to meet them. Throughout his time spent at The Fort today he mingled and socialized with the pack. We hope to see him return soon.

Charlie

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Charlie to the Fort. He is a 3 3/4ths month-old, 20 pound lab. As soon as he entered the front door, Charlie cruised right into the medium roll. He was up and at 'em the whole time he was here. Charlie was able to express himself very well throughout his day and we hope to see him return soon.

Leroy & Bruno

Today we met Leroy, a 1.5 yr old 70-pound lab. Leroy came into Fort Fido curious with his nose working 'round the clock. I noticed as he began to socialize with the other dogs that he was making friends and got too excited a couple of times. The rest of the pack helped to calm him down throughout his time here and he made some lasting connections today.

Yesterday we welcomed Bruno. Bruno is an 8 year-old, 5-pound chihuahua. He slowly entered into the small roll curious and met the other pack members. I saw that Bruno mingled about taking his time meeting the other pups. He seemed content after snuggling up next to his new doggie friends. I think that Bruno would enjoy some more socialization.

We look forward to having Leroy and Bruno return.

Rose

Today we assessed the happy-go-lucky pup, Rose. She is a very sweet and slightly shy, four month old, twenty-seven pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever. Rose wiggled through our lobby with much curiosity. From there, we escorted her to The Fort's Medium Roll Play Area, where we knew she'd be a perfect fit. Once inside the roll, Rose proceeded to explore it with caution. After a little bit of time passed, we had her meet up with Dolce. The two dogs exchanged healthy greetings, and then ran around together, most definitely enjoying each other's company. Throughout the morning, Rose met up with the rest of the pack, doing really well but experiencing a wee bit of "sensory overload" lol. Rose is here to hone her canine social skills and get out a bit of that puppy-energy. She has an awesome temperament, and we know that she can grow up to be a well balanced adult canine. Rose can also get a lot out of the Dog Daycare environment. Welcome Rose, you did a fine job today and we look forward to seeing you again at Fort Fido!

Cooper

This morning Fort Fido's Team had Cooper in for his Assessment Day. He is a handsome, five year old, sixty-five pound, Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Even though he is a Dog Daycare veteran, Cooper, wasn't quite sure what we had in store for him here at The Fort. He was a bit nervous after being ushered to the Big Roll, and took a while to get settled in. Once he met some of our other canine guests, he started "feelin it" more. As time passed and the Large Dog Play Area's pack grew, Cooper seemed to really start enjoying himself, he even played a little bit. Mostly, he just went around meeting the various pack members, strolling through the roll calmly, with his "sniffer" on high lol. He was fond of Jackson, and even liked a few of the other "Chocolates" that we had in today. Cooper is most welcome to Fort Fido anytime. Good on ya boy!

Zoey

Howdy! Today we assessed the happy-go-lucky Zoey. She is a neat looking, ten month old, ninety-six pound, Labrador Retriever and Great Dane Mix. When Zoey first arrived at Fort Fido, she was not sure what was going on, and was a wee-bit hesitant to enter the play area. Once we got her into the Big Roll, she explored a bit,  and slowly began to settle down and relax. We had a feeling, that as soon as she met some other dogs, she'd become even more OK with the situation here... Sure enough, that proved more than true. Once Zoey began to meet the pack, her personality totally blossomed, and from that point, it was "game on" for the rest of the day. Zoey speaks good "Dog" and makes canine friends easily. She played hard, and took a particular liking to Brix, among several others. Zoey's great, we'd be quite pleased to see her at The Fort regularly.

Black as Koal

Meet Koal, he is a handsome, two year old, seventy-nine pound, Black Labrador Retriever. Koal had his assessment at The Fort early this morning, and did well. A high-energy and happy fella, we had him get started in our Big Roll Play Area right away. Koal was very excited to meet with the other canines, as they rolled in throughout the morning. He is a very social dog, so meeting and greeting proved to be no problem for him... Koal made pals with several different canines, within minutes. He played really hard with, and particularly liked, Bounce. The two dogs played together, off and on, for the whole duration of Koal's visit. Koal is most welcome to hangout with us at Fort Fido anytime. Nice job today bud!

Milo

Meet Mighty Milo! He is a two year old, seventy five pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever Mix. Milo had his assessment this morning and did quite well. He entered our Big Roll effortlessly, ready to make some canine friends. We introduced him to Tucker and Theodore right away, and the three dogs became "bash brothers" within minutes lol. Milo is one happy-go-lucky pooch, and it is apparent that he has been properly socialized. To fit in with the group, and be comfortable enough to play, so quickly, is a real compliment to Milo and his owners. He speaks "Dog" fluently, and has a "fast" play-style. It's really great when an "Assessment Dog" or "New Dog" works out so easily... It makes everyone's work much easier.  All in all, Milo did an outstanding job here at The Fort today. We look forward to his return.

Busy Bella

Fort Fido had Bella in for her Assessment this morning. She is a two year old, forty-four pound, Black Labrador Retriever Mix. This strong and confident young dog-gal, did a great job inside of The Fort's Big Roll. After taking a few quick laps around the play area, Bella was ready and willing to meet the pack. She first met with the friendly Bounce, and the two hit it off into play quickly. As time passed and the Big Roll's Pack grew, Bella, continued to speak pretty good "Dog", and most importantly, continued to get along with the other canines. Once Mr. Reilly showed up onto the scene, Bella was "In Love" lol. These two really got to playing fiercely! We were even lucky enough to catch a video clip of the action.

Bella is a busy and hard-playing dog, however, she is also quite sweet, and socializes very well with others. We're happy to have her here and look forward to her return. Well done Bella!

The Great Gatsby

Early this morn we assessed Gatsby. He is a six month old, forty-five pound, energy-filled, Chocolate Labrador Retriever/Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix. When Gatsby entered Fort Fido's lobby, we wasted no time getting him to the Big Roll Play Area. Once inside, he was a bit confused as to why he was here... After his owner left, Gatsby settled down into his new surroundings. He took the time to meet with Jackson, then quickly met Zipper, and others, as the pack grew. In total, it took probably five minutes for Gatsby to go from "unsure", to playing and having a blast. It was a sight to see and made us all happy. It's always a compliment to us,when a new-to-The Fort canine, is comfortable enough to play here within minutes of their arrival. It's just all around good, because that is what they are here to do, socialize, play, and enjoy themselves. We believe that Gatsby will continue to thrive here, and we look forward to having him in again. I sure hope he sleeps good tonight, or is at least "down a notch" cause he sure played whole-heartedly.

One shot of "Espresso" please!

Feast your eyes on Espresso, otherwise known as "Espy" for short. She is a one year old, seventy-five pound, Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Espy came into Fort Fido this morning all fired up, very excited for her Assessment Day. We marched her straight to the Big Roll, where she got down to business right away. A Dog Daycare regular, Espy was enthralled by meeting and greeting the pack...Within minutes, she was playing fast and furiously with none other than Oliver and Theodore, two staples of our large dog play area. The three dogs hit it off beautifully, and Espy, continued to thrive here throughout the day. This veteran canine-socializer should prove to be a nice addition to our pack. Way to go girl, you are welcome at The Fort anytime. We'll see ya soon!

Happy Memorial Day with Filson and Cowboy

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Memorial Day. Thank you to all who have served! As you know, The Fort runs like a well-oiled-machine 365 days a year, 24 hours a day... So, even on this wonderful Memorial Day, we are up to our usual "Doggy Business".

Meet today's new pooches, in for their assessments, "Brothers" Filson and Cowboy. These two handsome looking, Lab, good-old-boys, marched right into the Lobby, ready and willing to meet the pack. Filson is a jolly, one year old, eighty-five pound, black, Labrador Retriever. Cowboy is a keen, four year old, eighty-nine pound, black Labrador Retriever.

After entering the Big Roll, both Filson and Cowboy took to their new surroundings with ease. As other dogs were introduced to them, and the pack grew in size, Filson and Cowboy seemed to be feeling it. They settled into a nice groove of meeting and greeting, and they even played a little bit with Captain among others. Although we didn't see tons of play out of this dynamic duo, we believe, given time and consistency, we should see them involved in even more play-like socialization... Specifically Filson, given his energy level, and gregariousness. On the other hand, the older Cowboy, may just keep his more mature and calm, alpha-like demeanor going. Either way, Filson and Cowboy are welcome to come and hangout with us at Fort Fido anytime.

Two cowpokes entered the saloon...

Errr... I mean, The Fort!

Get a load of buckaroos Gus and Hank.

These two merry "brothers", had the most comical entrance into the Big Roll play area, that I've seen in some time... They were both so happy and excited to be here, you would have thought they'd been here for fun, many times before. Their extremely cheerful personalities were a joy to see in the early morning, especially for a new-dog-assessments.

Gus is a two year old, seventy-eight pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever.

Hank is a four year old, seventy-eight pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever.


Luckily, telling the two apart isn't hard... The more "mature", Hank, has a golden color on him, while Gus does not. Personality wise, Gus and Hank are quite similar, with Gus being slightly more active. Both Gus and Hank are very gregarious. They're your "outgoing" type of canines, that just want to find their niche within the pack, and have a good time. Gus and Hank interacted with numerous dogs, seemingly into any that would take them on. We are pleased with Gus and Hank's social skills, they are welcome to drop into Fort Fido anytime they'd like.

Three New Dogs!

This last Saturday we assessed Toma. He is a cute, twelve year old, fifteen pound, Bichon Frise. This happy little fella hung out at The Fort and did well. "Toma from Tacoma" is playful, energetic, and speaks good "DOG". Even though he is a bit older than your average Fort Fido regular, you wouldn't know it! Toma's a champ who doesn't seem a day over six.

Next up, also assessed on Saturday after Toma, was Sunny. Sunny is a ten year old, ninety-six pound, beautiful golden colored, Labrador Retriever Mix. Sunny stayed with us and didn't do half bad. She was a bit shy at first, but warmed up, and became more comfortable here as the day progressed. Given time and consistency, we believe Sunny will become more relaxed here, and get more out of each visit.

Last, but certainly not least, is Abbey. Abbey had her assessment this morning, she is a six month old, fifty-two pound, Black Labrador Retriever. A very sweet dog, Abbey did a nice job getting to know the other pack members in our Medium Roll play area. She is a dog park regular, that's just so happened to meet a few Fort Fido dogs while out and about. Here today, she didn't play a whole lot, however, it was her first time away from family. Given that, Abbey really did awesome. We're almost certain that she will play more, once she gets a couple of visits under her belt.

March is typically our busiest month. This March has been no exception, and we are fortunate to have had such an influx of great new canines joining up... Including Toma, Sunny, and Abbey! They are all welcome back anytime.

Courageous Kalohe

Kalohe, is an extremely adorable and fierce little, Fawn-Colored, English Bulldog puppy. He had his assessment early this morning. This little guy is full of spunk and courage, he had no qualms about taking on our Medium Roll. From Dobermans to Labradors, Kalohe, played hard and long with many different pack members. We sent him home quite tired lol! Dog Daycare will be very beneficial to Kalohe for his early socialization. We are pleased to take care of him, while helping him grow into a well-balanced adult dog. Lucky for us, Kalohe will be boarding with us soon, we can't wait! This pup is too cute for his own good and a lot of fun in one tough package.

Jumping Jack Flash

Jack's a dashing, three month old, twenty-nine pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever. He had his assessment first thing Wednesday morning. Jack is quite the sweet puppy dog. If you aren't careful, this charming little (for now) chap will steal your heart. Who could resist that happy face lol? He looks like the dog from the Cottonelle commercials!

As soon as Jack entered the Medium Roll, he instantly started playing with the group, which was pretty hilarious. These are the kind of "Assessments" we love... Puppies that are ready to socialize merrily, it sure makes our job easier haha. Jack is more than welcome to hang out at Fort Fido. He will most certainly benefit from doing so. We plan on seeing Jack sooner rather than later.

Jocular Jasmine

Say hello to Jasmine. She is a four month old, twenty-three pound, Black/with white, Labrador Retriever that assessed this morning. Jasmine loved playing in our Medium Roll. With her age, size, temperament and play-style, doggie daycare appears to be the epitome of what she wants and needs right now. It'll give her owner a bit of a break too, always good, as this loveable canine has tons of energy! Pup Jasmine is a perfect fit in our pack, she has many similarities to happy-go-lucky medium roller Emily. She did a first rate job today, go Jasmine, you are welcome back anytime!
