Water Wednesday

As Summer's approaching, our temperatures are rising. You know what that means? Water play! Here at Fort Fido, we try to make your dogs stay as fun, entertaining, and relaxing as possible. One of our favorite activities to do in the hotter months is our pool parties. During a typical hot, Washington summer day, we like to put little kiddie pools in the middle of each roll and fill it up just enough for your pups to get their paws wet. Some of them love to dig, stand, or even roll around in the water; it's quite entertaining to watch.

Here's a video that I got of Ryker trying to eat the water out of our hose as we fill the pool up last summer. [Some of the video is in slow motion, check it out!] :D

To keep the "slow motion theme" check out these other cool videos that I thought you might enjoy.

German Shepherd drinking water

An assortment of dogs "shakin it off" after being wet lol

Anyhow, that's all I have to share tonight. I'm looking forward to our water play and i'm sure your pups are as well. Have a good rest of your evening.

All about that action!

We took some first-rate clips today....

Upstairs, it was business as usual in the Little Roll.

Pancake and Bailey became new pals in the Medium Roll Play Area...

And the Big Roll had it's normal share of pretty much nonstop dog-play-action. Oliver, Espy, Chedder, Jackson, Nevada, Della, Ryker and Reilly, just to name a few, were having a good old time.

Today, I'd also like to add this awesome clip of our boy, Brix, picking this year's Super Bowl Winner.

Hahaha, very cool, good on ya boy, GO HAWKS! Thanks to Brix's owner, Lisa, for sending this in.

I'll cap this post off with one dog-funny I saw this morning.

Here's "Patient dog entertains baby goat"

Take care,

-Grant
P.S. If you have any fun pictures or videos of your canine buddy(s), please email them to me so we can show them off on the Blog, we love doing that!

How about...

A few fun clips from the Medium and Big Rolls? Enjoy!

Georgie and Nemo got going strong early this morn...

They continued their "fierce" wrestle-play throughout the A.M., adding Angel to the mix.

Over in the Big Roll, it was your typical "Reilly Show", with him getting several other canines involved in play, including Oliver, and young-buck Ryker.

Good times!

Rockin Ryker

Ryker entered Fort Fido's lobby this morning with curiosity and confidence. He is a four month old, forty pound, German Shepherd, who was here for his Assessment Day. Being quite familiar with the breed, and Knowing that German Shepherds are "a lot of Dog", we had Ryker get accustomed to the Big Roll right away. Once inside the play area, he explored happily. As we introduced him to some other canines, he communicated with them rather well, especially for such a young dog. As time passed and the pack grew, Ryker continued to enjoy himself. He played quite hard, with several different pack members, and it was a joy to witness. Ryker's owners are doing a very good job with him, and he is on the right track to becoming a calm and well balanced adult dog. Wonderful job today Ryker, we shall meet again soon!

Enjoy this clip of Ryker getting to know Tucker:

Be well,

Honaw found & Clips

We received some good news this morning... Lost pooch Honaw has been found. Apparently he popped up at the Tacoma Humane Society. Way to go! That must have been on emotional roller-coaster!

A few clips from today:

Ryker and Sadie demonstrated lots of fair and balanced play in the Big Roll.

In the Medium Roll, Cody and Gracie rocked their "Doodle Style" lol.

Not to be outdone, the Little Roll had a wonderful group of wily rascals in rigorous play. There was even a lot of wrestling between them.

Cheers,

-Grant

Jolly Jasper

This morning we met up with Jasper at The Fort for his assessment. He is a two year old, eighty pound, Flat-Coated Retriever. Jasper is very well versed in "Dog Speak". He is also a Dog Daycare Veteran, being a regular at another Tacoma area daycare. All that being said, Jasper made our assessment process simple. He passed with flying colors and had an entertaining stay. Jasper played with just about everyone in the Big Roll, positively outstanding for a first day! In the clips that follow, you can see him hamming it up with Gus, Mollie and Ryker.

Hope your week has started off good,

-Grant

Welcome back! I hope your Thanksgiving Holiday went well. We are back in action here at The Fort! :)

From the Big Roll we have a clip of new pals Copper and Zodiac, it's great to see these two get some energy out. Don't mind Ryker relieving himself haha, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Two from the Medium Roll. One showing the love affair that is "Barkley & Kona". The other clip is to show that new pup Bogie is doing just fine in the Medium Roll lol... Here he takes down a boxer!

- Clip Day -

Check out these great clips from The Rolls today!

Up first is one of Boxer Sam and Yellow Lab Big-Boy Ryker sharing in some fun.

Two from the Medium Roll.

Gordon, Jasmine, Emily and Marley were tearing it up, a very normal occurrence lol.

Barkley and Niko have been buddies for some time now, Jasmine, has also been welcomed into their session.

Upstairs was your daily crazy-ball-time. The Littles sure learn how to retrieve well due to the constant stream of tossed-toys. It's fun up there, for the dogs and the "Wrangler".

One more clip from the Little Roll features busy-gal Samarah enjoying a jolly time with the loveable Gherie. ;)

Take care,

-Grant

Howdy to Howie from Florida

Super-Handsome-Canine Howie had his assessment today. He is a three year old, ninety pound, "Grey Ghost" AKA Weimaraner.

Howie hails from the sunny state of Florida and has attended dog daycare in the past. A fine specimen, he did pretty well for his first day, even mixing it up a little with Fort Fido Bad Boy Ryker (not really "bad", you know what I mean lol...). Howie seemed pretty comfortable in our Big Roll and we hope he'll continue to improve his "Dog Skills" as he gets used to the place. See ya soon Howie, nice job!

Cheers,

-Grant

Big Rollers!

Yesterday was all about the medium dogs, so here are some clips of the big side for today!

First up we have lab-mix Denali and boxer Sam playing together. These two were buddies all day long.

Next is a clip of a handful of wild labs-- Buddy, Ryker, and Pepper were caught on camera running like mad. Those guys sure are full of energy!

-Hope

- Great Clips -

Lucy and Chance are a whirlwind in this clip from the Medium Roll.

Here we have some "Ahhh cute!" neck-fighting going on in the Big Roll. It's Bella, Buddy, Hektor & Ryker.

Normally I do not like to post the bad news but since it's local (from King 5)... Dog left alone for months in basement could soon be rescued. Geez, I sure hope so!

Here's an article (and video) with some happiness! :)

Take it easy,

Clip! Clip!

Double trouble here in the Big Roll :) ! Too funny, two sets of Yellow Lab / Black Lab buddies going at it at once (Pepper & Ryker, Truman & Buddy). McGee the Boxer gets in the mix as well!

Next we have Koji and Abby having a stupendous romp around, opposites attract!

Have a good one,

-Grant

Ryker & a few shots from class

This morning's assessment was Ryker. He is an eight month old, 80 pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever. Talk about energy and excitement! When he came through the door I think he knew what was going on, "Yes, It's time to play Doggie!". Ryker played (or at least tried to play) with almost everyone in the Big Roll. He made quite a few buddies and really ripped it up, in short, he was into it! We plan on seeing more of Ryker, Doggie Daycare is really good for this one.

Take it easy this weekend,

-Grant
P.S. Another Basic Obedience and Leadership class (with trainer Garrett Stevens) graduated last night, here are a couple of photos. Also added a clip of Ryker and Finn!
