This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Pebbles. Pebbles is a 3 year-old, 13 lbs., Chihuahua & Pug mix. She has a sibling (and play friend) named Cheya whom also attends Fort Fido. Pebbles casually made her way into our Small Dog Program where she began to explore. Her explorations did not end there! She then began to meet the other pups as they arrived and had a blast with them. Pebbles was able to relax and have a great time today while making some new friends. We are looking forward to seeing both Pebbles and Cheya in the future.
Have a wonderful day,
- Zach

J.J.
Welcome J.J. to The Fort! J.J. is a 4 lbs., 4 year-old, Chihuahua. We saw his nose peek through the front door bright and early. He slowly made his way up the stairs and into our Small Dog Program. As soon as he entered, J.J was walking and sniffing about exploring the facility. Soon after he had entered, he began to meet the other pups. We saw him make new friends and that had an exciting adventure throughout his day here. We hope to see J.J. return soon to make more friends and have fun.
Have a bright day,

Leroy & Bruno
Today we met Leroy, a 1.5 yr old 70-pound lab. Leroy came into Fort Fido curious with his nose working 'round the clock. I noticed as he began to socialize with the other dogs that he was making friends and got too excited a couple of times. The rest of the pack helped to calm him down throughout his time here and he made some lasting connections today.Yesterday we welcomed Bruno. Bruno is an 8 year-old, 5-pound chihuahua. He slowly entered into the small roll curious and met the other pack members. I saw that Bruno mingled about taking his time meeting the other pups. He seemed content after snuggling up next to his new doggie friends. I think that Bruno would enjoy some more socialization.
We look forward to having Leroy and Bruno return.
Have a nice afternoon,
- Zach

Brilliant Bella
Please welcome Bella to the medium roll pack! =) Bella is a 3 year-old, 19 pound, chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier. Because Bella hasn't been exposed to many dogs, she wasn't sure what to think of The Fort. Although it took her some time to build up the courage to greet the others in medium roll, she seemed to relax and enjoy her time mingling. We look forward to having Bella return for lots of fun.

Kurious KK
We had the satisfaction of welcoming KK today. She is a small miniature Pincher/Chihuahua and is about 8 years old. KK came in with her tail up and interested in the other dogs within small roll. She did some moving around and sniffing about as she learned what The Fort is about. I loved watching her mingle with the small roll pack and had to chuckle at her enjoyment. We are looking forward to having her return for another exciting day.
Hope you enjoyed the weather earlier in the day,

Russell
Today we met with Russell for his Assessment. He is a happy little, one year old, eighteen pound, Pug and Chihuahua Mix. Russell headed up to The Fort's Little Roll with ease. Once inside it, he sniffed about merrily, contemplating the point of his visit lol. Shortly after getting situated in the play area, we had Russell begin to meet the pack... Which he did in proper canine fashion. Russell's "meeting and greeting" was spot on and easy going. In a short time, he seemed as though he'd been a part of our pack for a long time. When it comes to playing, Russell absolutely loves it! He chased toys with a fervor, and even got into a little bit of dyadic (one on one) canine play. Russell will be a great addition to Fort Fido's Little Dog Pack and he can get a ton out of Dog Daycare here. Way to be Rus, we'll see ya around!
Checkout these great little clips of Russell enjoying his visit:
Have a nice Memorial Day Weekend,

P.S. We still have spots available for Overnight Boarding this weekend, give us a call and reserve your dog's spot now!

Iris
This morning Fort Fido's crew got to meet Iris. She is a sweet and pretty, one year old, ten pound, blonde and white colored, Chihuahua Mix. We led Iris to the Little Roll Play Area upstairs. Up there, she was bit hesitant at first, wondering where the heck she was, and what she was supposed to do. Thankfully, after only a few minutes, Iris began to "blossom". She met with Alexander, Rusty, Cisco, and then Walter... Those early morning guests are kindly canines, that helped Iris feel quite calm and balanced here. Fitting in with the pack well, Iris really started to enjoy her visit as the morning progressed. She socialized happily and seemed to have a good time. The Fort is thrilled to have Iris join our ranks. We believe she'll have even more fun here, and bust out into some play, in future visits.Be well,
-Grant

Lola
Lola came to the The Fort for her Assessment today. She is a six year old, ten pound, fawn colored, Chihuahua Mix. Lola is really cute and sweet, and kind of reminds us of a female Cortez lol! Upstairs in the Little Roll, Lola sniffed around a lot, finding out everything she could about her new-found play area. As other canines began to arrive, Lola seemed excited to greet them. She met with them properly, and had no problems socializing. Towards the end of her stay, she even began to bust out into a little bit of play. We plan on seeing her for some future Overnight Boarding visits, and believe that she'll really have a blast on her next go around. Swell job today Lola, the Fort Fido crew is happy to have ya, and we look forward to seeing you again.

= The Pixie =
This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming Pixie, the sister of Pete. Pixie is a 4 year-old 5 pound chihuahua. Pixie was slightly anxious of coming into The Fort today, but her fears quickly diminished as she entered the small roll. Once in the small roll, Pixie sniffed about learning her surroundings and preparing herself to meet the other pups. She quickly made friends with Buzzette and Gypsy, enjoying her time with them. Although Pixie had not played the most, she definitely made some new friends today and we await Pixie's return.

A Pack Of Six - Part One - Half a sixpack
This Monday has started out with a bang here at The Fort! We have three new dogs, of the same family, all in for their Assessments this morning. They are half, of a six-dog-pack, that we are assessing today and tomorrow. Get this, today's three are all Chihuahuas!
First up, meet Rouge, he is a one year old, ten pound, brindle, Chihuahua Mix. Although he is the latest addition to his owner's pack, he is doing well so far. Upstairs in the Little Roll, Rouge was the most curious and confident. He got to exploring things right away, and enjoyed playing during ball time.
Coco Sophia, or "Coco" for short, is about four years old, she is seven pounds, and is beige in color. This Chihuahua gal was a bit more cautious than her "brother", when entering the small dog play area. After a bit of time passed, she began to relax into her new surroundings.
Last but not least this morning, was Fiona, she is the oldest of the three Chihuahuas, at about seven years of age. She is a lovely light cream color and weighs eight pounds. She too did a fine job at Fort Fido today, but did take the longest to warm-up to the situation.
All three of today's dogs are rescues, so their ages may not be 100% accurate. These canines are quite lucky to have found their owner, and mostly importantly, their forever home. Way to go, and way to rescue, much respect!
Fortunately for us, all three of today's new canines seemed to get comfortable here rather quickly. They are all fun little dogs, that should get much enjoyment out of our pack and facilities. Fingers crossed, that the other three members of their pack, will do as good tomorrow!
Happy Indigenous People's Day!
;)

Dinero & Ollie
We were pleased to meet up with the infamous Dinero and Ollie, in for their assessments this morning. This dapper duo, proved to be a great addition to Fort Fido's Little Roll.
Dinero is a handsome, eleven year old, ten pound, Chihuahua.
Ollie is a regal, thirteen year old, twenty-nine pound, Pug.
Both Dinero and Ollie did well upstairs in our small dog play area. They seemed to enjoy the company of the other canines, and it's clear that they've met a dog or two in their days. For older, more mature fellas, Dinero and Ollie truly handled themselves well, even amongst the young pups of the pack. Although they didn't do much in the way of playing, they did socialize, meeting and greeting other dogs, while walking and sniffing about curiously. These guys enjoyed the socializing and are ready to meet more pups and make new friends. Dinero and Ollie are very nice dogs that fit in well here at The Fort. We look forward to their return.
Take it easy,

Sumo!
Today we met up with Sumo for his assessment. He is a very cute, five year old, ten pound, tan and white colored, Chihuahua. Sumo headed upstairs to The Fort's Little Roll. Up there, he was cautious, yet curious, about his new surrounding. Once a bit of time passed, Sumo settled into the pack and seemed to be comfortable with the new situation. Although he didn't "play" with any dogs, he did prance around confidently, sniffing a few canines here and there. Sumo's tailed wagged frequently, as he strutted through the play area amidst the group. Sumo is welcome to attend Fort Fido. Hopefully he will branch out a bit more during future visits.Take it easy,

Puperton & Roscoe
Meet Pupperton and Roscoe! They had their assessments yesterday. Pupperton is a five year old, seventeen pound, tan and white colored, Chihuahua. Roscoe is a one year old, twelve pound, brown and black colored, German Shepard/ Dachshund Mix.Both Pupperton and Roscoe hung out in Fort Fido's Little Roll. It was a new experience for them, so they weren't exactly sure what to make of it all. All in all, they did just fine. Although there wasn't tons of play involved, they seemed to relax into the pack a bit as the morning progressed. Given time and consistency, we believe Pupperton and Roscoe will began to get much more out of The Fort. For now, these two cuties are welcome anytime. Good job boys, we'll see ya again soon!
Take care,-Grant

Freaky Friday!
As we get closer and closer to Halloween I thought it would be fun to check out some creative ideas people around the net have had to let Fido join the festivities. here is a link to 20 great ideas.
If that list doesn't tickle your fancy heres a link to a bunch more! including the fearsome Thorgi!
Lastly, remember to keep Fido and Fluffy happy and safe inside the house for this night full of scary sights. Costumes can be stressful for our canine companions no matter how fun it is for us. Keep in mind that Fido may not understand that the ghoul or goblin approaching the door is only a child, and take steps to ensure a pleasant evening for everyone in the household. Here is a few more tips from the ASPCA on how to keep your pup safe on Halloween.
See ya next week!

World Record Dogs
Milly, a Puerto Rican Chihuahua has been announced by Guinness World Records as the Worlds smallest dog. When measured by height Milly stands a mere 3.8 inches tall and weighs in just under a pound! That's shorter than a soup can and lighter than one of your shoes!
While researching this article, I found some other hilarious record holding pups!
This is Puggy. He's a Pekingese with a 4.5 inch long tongue! It's so long in fact that his mom, Becky has to cut his food into small pieces so he can actually eat it.
This pup's claim to fame is for being able to hold not just one or two, but FIVE tennis balls in her mouth at once. Augie, an 8-year-old golden retriever is suited perfectly for this record.
Another catch and hold record, but this time Frisbees!
Rose, a 6-year-old Labrador retriever/border collie mix, can catch and hold up to seven Frisbees (thrown separately) in his mouth at one time. what an amazing talent!
"Tillman, an English bulldog, traveled a 100-meter stretch of parking lot in just 19.68 seconds during the 2009 X Games in Los Angeles, winning him a world record and making him the Tony Hawk of the canine world." How radical is that?? Tillman can skate better than me!!
All of these and many more can be found on This page, and includes dogs and cats with unique talents, and World Records set with those talents.
Thanks for checking in, have a pleasant weekend, and make sure to tune back in on Monday for updates of happenings here at The Fort
Happy Friday!

Back to it with new pal Astro!
Meet Astro! He is a good looking, one year old, eight pound, Chihuahua / Miniature Pinscher Mix. Astro is the new "little brother" of Fort Fido mainstay, Miss Cleo, who has been attending The Fort since 2007!
Now Astro hung out in the Little Roll. He didn't do half bad up there, but you could tell he wasn't certain of why he was here. Of course, when it was time for him to leave, he finally began to play with Cortez in the lobby lol. That is most definitely a good sign. Given time and consistency, we are pretty sure that this little fella will be rammin' and jammin', with the best of the Little Roll Pack, soon. Well done Astro, I've got an inkling we'll be seeing ya around.
:)
Have a great day,

Jovial Josie
This morning we assessed the rather good looking, young dog, Josie! She is a very bright and sparky, one year old, fourteen pound, Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound Mix. Now Josie is one nice canine. She stayed with us in the Little Roll, where Mr.Cortez took quite a liking to her lol. Although Josie didn't play a bunch, she was happy, content, and seemed to enjoy her stay. As more dogs arrived and the pack grew, Josie became even more comfortable in her new surroundings. She was a pleasure to have here at Fort Fido, we are excited to have her here for Overnight Boarding too. Tremendous job Josie!
Take it easy,
-Grant
P.S. Just a reminder, The Fort, is a great place for your canine to be during the 4th of July... Especially if they aren't too fond of all the "firework action". Let them spend the day and or night with us. It is much more calming and fun for them here. We still have spots available!

: Rad Rusty :
Fort Fido good-old-boy, Dempsey, has been the cornerstone of the Big Roll since his first days in 2008. He is one awesome dog, that has shown great prowess and leadership in the pack. His owners are also some of the best, and most loyal, customers. Thank you for your support over the years!
Anywho... Dempsey and the "Devlin Clan" have sworn in another member lol. Meet the radical little dude that is, Rusty! Rusty is a one year old, Chihuahua/Dachshund (maybe Corgi) Mix. Let me be the first to tell you... Rusty is one lucky dog! He couldn't have found a better situation, or better Forever Home. Recently rescued by the Devlins, Rusty was a bit under the weather at first. He was a stray dog for many moons. Then, after a couple of weeks with his new family; consisting of proper nutrition, love, and care, Rusty was feeling great, and was more than ready to take on the fun of The Fort. He met up with the Little Roll crew this morning and fit in with them seamlessly. Rusty thoroughly enjoyed socializing, and, was all about play. He wrestled it up with several different canines, taking quite a liking to Cortez. Rusty reminds us of Cortez a lot, he has a very similar sweet disposition. "Rad Rusty" passed his assessment with flying colors, and please note, the decision to pass him was not based on Dempsey's Legacy. This little fella is more than welcome, due solely to his actions, and on his own accord. Hahaha!
;)
Be well,

Pleasant Pippin
(He's somewhat like that character haha... Alright, I'll stop with the LOTR references.)
Meet Pippin, he is an incredibly sweet, nine month old, ten pound, black & white colored, Rat Terrier/Chihuahua Mix.
Pippin spent his time here in the Medium Rolled and absolutely flourished! He is very courageous, playing well with other pack members of all sizes. His exceptionally warm personality, won over the pack, as well as our staff. Pippin had a great first day at Fort Fido and he may attend whenever he pleases. Funny, he seriously reminds us of another little dog that we know. Here is a little shot of Pippin in action with Fort regular Sheldon. These two thoroughly enjoyed each other's company this morning.
Enjoy your day,

! Brother From Another Mother !
Tuesday's early morning assessment was none other than Chico. He is a eleven year old, ten pound, white colored, Chihuahua. Now, get this, Chico is the "older brother" of Fort Fido Big Roll regular, Gus. How is that for opposites eh? Hahaha! Gus is huge, Chico is tiny. Gus is black, Chico is white. Gus has long hair, Chico has short hair. I'm guessing you've caught my drift lol?
Chico didn't mind the other pack members in the Little Roll. He wasn't sure what to think of David and Matt but took quite a liking to my cousin Jaya. Basically, Chico could care less about the other dogs and isn't too keen on strange human males. But can ya blame him? He's 77 years old for Pete's sake! I'll probably act the same way when I get there haha. Anyways, Chico is more than welcome to attend daycare/boarding here. In actuality, he got along just fine. He's just a surprising contrast to his active, extremely personable and gregarious brother, Gus... And that is ok by us, he is neat in other ways. Dogs vary, a lot, just like we homo-sapiens do.
Way to be Chico, never let them see ya sweat. We shall see ya soon for overnight boarding!
;)
Take it easy,
-Grant
