Stella

This morning we welcomed Stella. She is a 45 pound, 5 month-old, Catahoula pup. We started Stella out this morning in the medium roll. As soon as the dogs started to arrive she was able to relax and play. Stella spoke great dog, made friends, and had a fantastic time here at  The Fort. Check out the clip captured below of Stella playing with Abby (among others). Hope that she will return soon to make even more friends.

Stay happy,
- Zach

Stella & Maggie Rose

Yesterday the Fort Fido crew met Stella for her Assessment Day. She is a eleven month old, thirteen pound, brindle and white, Foxton. This fun mix of a dog, was ready and willing to give our Little Roll Play Area a go. Once inside, Stella, acted quite curious about her new digs, and she explored the Little Roll with confidence. When it was time to meet the pack, Stella did so gracefully. In no time at all, she was making friends and playing well with the other canines. She enjoyed Ball Time, and liked chasing around one of our Canine Hardware Kick Fetch Balls. Stella is the type of healthy canine that can get a lot out of Dog Daycare!

Today we had Miss Maggie Rose in for her Assessment. She is a sweet, five month old, about ten pound, American Cocker Spaniel. Maggie, is also the new "baby-sister" of Fort Regular, Thorn. Unlike her larger "brother" Thorn, Maggie, tried the Small Dog Play Area on for size. There, she was calm and content, while she explored the new area. As the morning moved on, and the Little Roll Pack began to arrive, Maggie happily met with each member, albeit cautiously. She is here to sharpen her social skills and burn-off some puppy energy. She has a lot to learn, but luckily, she's at the right place to do so, and her owners are doing a fine job of getting her on the right track too. In time, Maggie should certainly become a well rounded adult canine. Throughout the morning, Maggie played hard and socialized very energetically. She also enjoyed giving Little Roller, Dixie, a "run for her money" lol. We believe Maggie can't wait until her next visit and we plan on seeing her again soon.

Take care,

-Grant

Stella and then Lucy!

(We liked Stella's "top knot-do", real Shih Tzuy lol, now if only this pic did her justice!)

Yesterday, we had Stella in for her Assessment Day. She is a nine month old, eleven pound, black and white colored, Shih Tzu. This regal little gal hung out with us upstairs in The Fort's Little Roll. There, she did quite well, acting particularly calm and balanced for such a young dog. Stella didn't get into too much play, however she seemed to enjoy spending time with the pack. Her owners are doing a fine job raising her up. Shih Tzus are a very "headstrong" breed, that can become quite demanding in the wrong hands lol... Lucky for Stella, and us, she has some strong leadership at home. Way to go guys, keep it up!

(Lucy had somewhat of a "Dingo" look about her.)

This morning, we met with Lucy for her Assessment Day. She is a three year old, fifty pound, German Shepherd Mix... That just so happens to be the "aunt" of Fort Fido regular Kingsley. Lucy tried the Big Roll on for size right away, and liked it. She explored the play area, and then met with the other canines that arrived, in a kind and proper fashion. As time went by and the pack grew, Lucy even got to see "nephew Kingsley" join the mix lol. We believe, given time and consistency, that Lucy can become even more playful, and can have even more fun here. We'd love to see her really "bust out" in future visits.

Both Stella and Lucy, are great new additions to our pack, nice work ladies!

Be well,

-Grant

From today's highlight reel

I was quite thrilled with the clips captured this morning and afternoon... A ton of good old-fashioned Dog Fun, with the majority of it happening in the Medium Roll. Check it out! Good times.

Here is one shot from the Big Roll, featuring Jack and Stella "neck-fighting" (which is a type of play).

Now here's four more clips, all from the Medium Roll. Lots of fantastic play, showcasing Lucy, Cody, Mac, Beau, Jackson, Avi, Sierra, and a few others that flash by lol.

Cheers,

-Grant

Our friends are at it again!

Here's a couple of clips from this morning at The Fort! First off, we've got Zipper, Marty and Stella romping with the Big Rollers

Next Up we've got Pancake and Macey, a pair of adorable medium rollers, also this clip features Lucy with her awesome new, summer ready hair-do!

And last, but certainly not least we have a couple of the puppies from our Medium Roll. Yuki, and Sierra play as Max patiently watches from the sidelines, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce!

Another great day with friends here at Fort Fido. Remember to check in on days your pup was with us, and maybe you'll see them here on the blog or playing on the television in the lobby.

Stella's a spitfire!

Please welcome Stella to The Fort. She is a darling, five month old, thirty pound, Boxer that had her assessment early today. Stella did amazingly well for her first day. She spoke darn good "DOG" for a pup and got along wonderfully with all of the pack members. The Medium Roll is the quintessential fit for her at this time. We have Boxers in both the Big and Medium Rolls. Stella is full of energy yet quite intelligent, most of the Boxers we come across here at Fort Fido tend to be this way, lucky for us lol! They are definitely a striking and popular breed. Swell job today Stell ;), we hope to see you around these parts again.

Enjoy your weekend,

-Grant
P.S. Checkout these two clips I scored of Stella playing this morning. One features Tikvah (no surprise there) playing with Stella and the other shows her tearing it up with Buddha... Unfortunately the fence got in the way of that one.

Fido & Clips

(Apparently, this is a Photo of a Hubley Cast Iron Piggy-Bank from the early 1900's, cool!)

Why did "Fido" become the generic family dog name?

I didn't know either lol, maybe you did... I just learned that Fido comes from the Latin fidus, meaning faithful / I trust, a very fitting term for "Man's best friend". Neat, ya learn something new everyday. ;)

Now here are some outstanding clips from today's rolls.

First up, Abby, Grady, Stella and Ziva have been romping hard all day together in the Big Roll.

It has also been a Chocolate Lab fest in the Large Roll today, here, Osbourne, Kodiak and Grady have a triple threat match. They must know their the same breed lol.

Things were fast and furious in the Medium Roll today as always. Miss Phoebe loves stirring up a pot of chase games... Buddha, Diego and Zeus pursue.

Check Pearl out in the Little Roll, she found a big orange ball that she really digs... A clip was taken later in the day and she was still after that ball, too funny.

Last but certainly not least, new pup Mooshu and Pearl had a late afternoon wrestling match that we were able to capture. What a blast!

Take care,

-Grant

Roll clips!

Four from today.

The first one is short but sweet showing the ball-of-furry that can be the Little Roll lol.

In clip two, from the Medium Roll, Mr. Buddha's got a girlfriend (Phoebe)!

The Medium Roll again, this one shows Mama Mimi schooling young Zeus and Buddha.

In the Big Roll it was daily fun, as usual, you can spot Maggie, Howie, Benny, Maximus, Grady, Mcgee and Stella among others.

Enjoy your weekend,

-Grant

Video Clips

Two from the Big Roll.

Abby and Stella are two frequent visitors of The Fort. They are best buddies, knowing how to play hard and fast... Sometimes we have to step in and slow them down a bit ;) . These two swell dogs deffinitely get in a full-body workout everyday they are here.

Two young shepherds, Jake and Ziva, had a bit of a love-affair today. It's neat to see the two playing together. Osbourne ends this one with a wind-sprint lol.

Two from our Medium Roll as well.

Miss Bella (check her gorgeous photo out on another website) and young rebel-rouser Zeus demonstrated their fair and balanced play early in the afternoon.

Meanwhile... Emily, Gibson and Jaeger were a surprising trio that got along well.

Take it easy,

-Grant

1 big 2 med

Here are a couple of good ones from the Medium Roll. The first is of Barkley and Mimi egging on Miss Phoenix, very funny! Although it looks a bit "wild" in this clip, they are all buddies. The second clip shows Bella and Gibby having some fun while Chance and Lucy do the same in the corner. It sure was a good medium group today.

Our last clip is a bit of neck fighting from the Big Roll this morning. It features Boxers Stella and Sam rolling around with Black Lab Truman.

From the Medium Roll, Barkley and Diego have a good wrestling match. The same goes for Jasmine and Niko, what fun! Our last clip is of Bella the doodle and new Fort Fido Friend Emily having a go.

Meet Jasmine

This morning we assessed Jasmine. She is a six month old, thirty-six pound, Brindle (with white socks and chest), Boxer. Jasmine was all about attending Fort Fido. The coolest part is that her litter-mate sister Stella already plays here daily! The two met with a fervor, instantly going into play. It was sure neat to see the sisters reunited. Like Stella, Jasmine spoke good dog, played hard and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. For now, both of these boxer gals hangout in the Medium Roll. In time, they will most likely transfer to the Big Roll. Excellent job Jasmine, we know we'll be seeing you soon.

We caught a clip of this morning's reunion:

Have a great day,

-Grant

Another round of clips and news

One from the Big Roll featuring Happy and Dempsey, these two sure get along well.

Today in the Medium Roll, we had a hodgepodge of happy go lucky K9's. You can see Gabe playing great with the new Boxer pup Stella.

In the news today I found a few neat articles: Ask Dog Lady: Don't chew out beagle over bad habits, Puppy Love During Finals? & One more mess for Obama: Cleaning up after the dog.

Have a nice weekend,

-Grant
P.S. I'll be back Thursday for our holiday picture post (Bring me in your photos to scan!). For the meantime, Fort Fido Manager Hope will be taking the reigns.

What a Tank! ;)

This last Tuesday (the 26th) we had an assessment that I didn't mention. Check this guy out, his name is Tank! Tank's Aunty Stella attends The Fort and now he has joined the pack upstairs in the Little Roll. He is a one year old, 13 pound, Pomeranian Mix. Tank did very well with the other dogs, he even sprinted and played a bit. We hope to see him more often!

Take care,

-Grant

Also, tomorrow, September Fourth 2010, marks our four year Anniversary! :) My, how the time has flown! Thank you all for being such wonderful customers and supporting us.

Stelllaaa!!!

A Streetcar Named Desire reference for you hahaha...

Stella was welcomed to the "Small Roll" this morning! She is a super-cute, fifteen pound, long-haired dapple Dachshund... Say that ten times fast lol. Stella acclimated well while having a good time. She scurried around with the little pack a lot and we hope she sleeps good tonight!

All for now,

-Grant
