Penelope was yesterday's high-spirited assessment. She's a one year old, fifty one pound Boxer. This gorgeous girl fit in with our Large Dog Program perfectly... This honestly didn't surprise me though because her "dog cousin", Tucker, already comes to The Fort and has been for years. It probably feels like home to her already!
She mingled with the pack, and made friends instantly. One of the dogs she ended up playing with quite a bit was another boxer like herself, Maximus . Check them out romping around below!
Get a load of this fine specimen! Meet Milo, he is a two year old, about seventy-five pound, red colored, Golden Retriever. We led him into our Big Roll this morning where he absolutely thrived. Milo played hard with several different pack members, specifically, Maximus and fellow GoldenMollie. It was great to have such a well-balanced new dog. Your typical "dog's dog", Milo communicated well with the others and had an easygoing demeanor.
We believe Milo thought he had "died and gone to heaven" while attending The Fort lol. Crackin' job today bud, we hope to see you in here again soon.
Here are two quick clips of Milo enjoying himself this morning.
Our newest employee, Kelsey (She's still behind the scenes at this point but is doing a fantastic job), took a couple of great photos the other day. I thought I'd share them because they turned out real swell. Click on the photos to enlarge them, the one of Koji is my particular favorite, so artsy lol.

Early this morning I found this link from MSN. It talks a bit about Hybrid Dog Breeds and their current popularity. I would certainly agree, the majority of Fort Fido dogs are mixed, "Designer Breeds", as we like to call them. They can be super-dogs for a variety of reasons. Some are even hypoallergenic! The Designer Breeds all seem to have Hybrid Vigor that combats the fussy physical problems many purebred breeds experience. Not all folks agree with that theory but this guy does. ;)
Here are three grand clips from The Rolls.
Up first, Maximus and Fort long-timer Murphy had a blast together today in the Big Roll.
New pup Kona has been loving it in the Medium Roll, there is ALWAYS someone to play with in that group!
From the Little Roll we have a strong trio battling it out, Chloe, Koji and Pearl. Not surprised by that one lol.
Have a great weekend!
-Grant P.S. If you are looking for some family-fun this weekend, checkout the Enumclaw Christmas Parade this Saturday evening. My Pipe Band, among others, will be there. It should prove to be a real fun time for all, albeit, cold!
This first one from the Big Roll really had me cracking up, it's of Buddy and Maximus. They are having the best bout of "Neck Fighting" (a type of play) I have ever seen. Wild and crazy guys these two.
This one from the Medium Roll is early in the AM. Miss Lucy and her gal pal Sofie, both long time members of The Fort, know how to have a fun time for sure.
Upstairs in the Little Roll, Young bucks Buddy and Charlie continue their hard wrestle-style play. I think Charlie has the "Upper Paw" right now but he'd better watch out... Buddy is growing like a weed, the tables may turn on Charles.
Enjoy your weekend,
-Grant P.S. No plans? Then come to Port Townsend for the 76th Annual, Rhododendron Festival/Parade. It promises to be a fun time, the band and I will be doing our thing there! :)
Maximus assed early this morning. He is a handsome, two year old, 70 pound, Yellow Labrador Retriever Mix. Maximus is a good dog! He didn't play as much as we would have liked him to... We trust that will change rather quickly once he get's a few sessions under his belt and becomes more comfortable.
