Hoda

Yesterday morning we assessed a dog named Hoda. Hoda is a 48-pound, 8-month-old, Old English Bulldog & French mix. She came in beaming and ready to explore Fort Fido. She entered into medium roll curiously sniffing about. Hoda began to meet some other pups in medium roll and had a great time socializing with the other dogs. Hoda began to play with Cooper, Maggie, and Petey (Take a peek below!) after learning that The Fort is a safe place to play and have fun. Hoda definitely enjoyed her time here today and we look forward to seeing her return for some more fun.

This Week's Cool Clips

We caught a couple of great clips over the past few days that we haven't had a chance to slip in here, with all of the new dogs coming in! So here's a great peek at some of our friends from this weekend and earlier this week--

We caught Maggie on tape tearing it up with pups Buddy and Jack. Maggie is an older gal, and it's great to see that she can still keep up with the wild young'uns!

Next up is this cute clip of Tikvah and Rudy, who were boarding together for a few days. These ladies are just the best of friends, and really enjoy each other's company.

Lastly, we got a hilarious look at Jackson chasing the herding ball. Sometimes it is really surprising which dogs will take to the herding ball, I didn't expect this little Frenchie to get so worked up by it! He didn't even notice Yuki trying to play with him, lol.

Cookies & Night Clips

 

Many of us bake Holiday Cookies around this time of year. It can be fun to decorate them with family and friends, eating them is always good too! Unfortunately, many of our favorite Holiday Treats aren't too healthy, or are even quite bad for dogs. So where does this leave Fido, amongst the cookie-eating festivities of this season? Well, you are just going to have to bake him or her their own batch of Doggy Holiday Treats. Don't worry, I've found you plenty of first rate recipes you can try at home lol!

Here are two fun clips from The Fort last night. They are mainly of Kelsey's Dobie pup, Finley, and Toby having a blast during the wee-hours. You may also spot Lillie, Maggie, Sheldon and others. So fa, Overnight Boarding here has been working out well. Outstanding really! It's sometimes wild to think that we are open 24/7 365, yet our crew here is handling business quite well. Besides, we are finding out there is quite a need for this... We are here for you and your pets to meet that need.

Merry Murphy

Young pup Murphy came in for his assessment this morning. He is a four month old, twenty-five pound, sable colored, German Shepherd. Murphy is still a little fella, so we put him in the Medium Roll. He was very interested in the other dogs but, like a typical puppy, did not properly greet them... After a few corrections from some of the older dogs, Murphy really began to get the hang of things. Once a few younger canines entered the roll, he was in "hog heaven" lol. He made best friends with Tilly, romping about hard with her, among others. Murphy did a fantastic job today. He is highly intelligent and should become an outstanding member of The Fort's Pack. Respecting "Mother Maggie" was also a wise choice of his today. ;)

German Shepherds are beautiful creatures, however, they are "a lot of dog" requiring strong leadership! We here at Fort Fido commend Murphy's owners for educating themselves and doing right by him. Way to go!

As we slow down a bit...

Whoa, a day without a new dog starting lol. Time to catch our breath. :)


I caught some cute pictures last week of my folks and new pup Rocky. They were safeguarding his tender little feat with some Musher's Secret. Sometimes, a dog new to The Fort, that isn't used to a rubber floor, will play sooo hard that their pads get a little sore. Musher's Secret prevents this, among other things, it is an awesome product!


Here is a clip from today for good measure. Mother Maggie visited the Medium Roll today for a change. Bogie was all over her and she had no problem handling him.

The Rolls, The Clips

From the Big Roll, Mother Maggie was on patrol as usual... There is always some "correcting" to be done when Chocolate Lab gal Kodiak is in the thick of it! Osbourne seems to be watching in amazement lol, "How does she do it?".





In the Medium Roll it was business as usual. You know, Tikvah in every shot doing something super fun, Zeus too, haha. ;)



Samantha had us chuckling with her "after-romp lounge position". A dog has to be mighty comfortable to be on it's back like that, especially with the pack. :)



Upstairs, known as the "Little Roll", was its fast and furious self. We captured a bit of Wrastlin' in between ball time. The usual suspects were hitting it hard; Buddy, Chloe, Pearl and Frizzy just to name a few.

Roll clips!

Four from today.

The first one is short but sweet showing the ball-of-furry that can be the Little Roll lol.



In clip two, from the Medium Roll, Mr. Buddha's got a girlfriend (Phoebe)!



The Medium Roll again, this one shows Mama Mimi schooling young Zeus and Buddha.



In the Big Roll it was daily fun, as usual, you can spot Maggie, Howie, Benny, Maximus, Grady, Mcgee and Stella among others.

- - - Zesty Ziva! - - -

New pup Ziva was in this morning for her assessment. She is a stunning, seven-month-old, sixty pound, German Shepherd.

We started Ziva in the Medium Roll where most large breed puppies start. Eventually they head to the Big Roll once they get their bearings and or start to get "too big for their britches".

Intelligent and High energy Ziva didn't last long in the Medium play area, she was ready to get her schooling from the dogs in the big pack now! Once we set her up in the Big Roll, she truly flourished. This dog loves the daycare environment and really learned from the corrections given to her by the senior pack members (mama Maggie in particular). Ziva is learning quickly what is ok and what isn't in the pack. Nice job today Ziva, we will see you tomorrow where school will be in session once again! :)

Pretty Golden Maggie

Please welcome Maggie to The Fort! She is a six month old, thirty pound, Golden Retriever who had her assessment early this morning. We went ahead and put Maggie in the Medium Roll which ended up being a perfect fit for her. She had a blast with the pack, playing hard, fast and almost the whole duration of her assessment. Maggie has a lot of energy yet spoke pretty good "Dog" for a young pup. We hope to see her again soon. Good going today!

Abby & Jake !

The Fort welcomed two new recruits this morning and Jake was up first. He is an itty-bitty, three month old, German Shepherd who shall soon be a giant! Jake has these massive paws to grow into (the biggest I've seen on a pup in quite some time). He did decent in the Medium Roll, we can't wait for him to find his groove. In a few months, Jake will probably start hanging out with his Auntie Maggie (an all black German Shepherd, a Fort Fido regular) in the Big Roll.

After Jake strolled in, Abby stopped by. She is a beautiful little, three year old, Cockapoo. She has had a rough start (been attacked multiple times by large dogs) with dog socialization. We at the fort think Abby's day was not too shabby. She seemed to enjoy herself in the Little Roll despite some unfortunate situations in her past. Only time will tell. Word on the street is that she loves ball time... We love ball time too, it can be a great tool to get pets comfortable with doggie daycare.

- The Tula Hula -

Tula is a 40 pound, one and a half year old, Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog)/Lab mix. She had her first Fort Fido day this morning. Tula is the quintessential "Medium Roller" fitting in seamlessly with the pack. Many in the Medium Roll are her size, play style and energy level. Tula is a gorgeous little gal, she has a black head and body with little variegated "leopard legs" lol. So a big welcome to Tula, I hope she continues to enjoy herself here. Tula's owner's Aunt brings her pup to Fort Fido as well, her dog is Maggie. Maggie is a energy-filled little Shih-Tzu who is very sweet and loves playing upstairs in the little roll.
