Kamo Odin joined The Fort today along with his two siblings, Sir & Lady Kironna. Kamo is a 4 year-old, 90 pound, Airedale. As soon as Kamo arrived at Fort Fido, he was ready to unleash his inner playfulness with Rainier (Check out below). We hope to see the trio soon!
About a year ago, I was lucky enough to inherit some outstanding vintage family photos from my uncle (David's brother). Upon viewing them, I noticed several photos with dogs in them! Delighted, I thought they would make for a neat blog post. The following pictures are from my Grandmother's and Grandfather's (David's parents) sides of the family. Unfortunately the pics aren't dated, and we don't know a whole lot about them either, however, we believe they are from the late 40's and early 50's. Thanks for having a look, they sure are neat pieces of family history to have.
Hey everybody, I hope all is well. Things are just first rate here at The Fort. However, it sure would be nice if SUMMER would start eh? Hahaha! At least I haven't had to water the garden, a definite plus.
Anywho, today I have three clips from the Big Roll. Technically, Monday, 7/2/12's Big Roll. We had a nice mix of Chocolate Labs and Airedale Terriers, amongst other fine breeds like Boxers, German Shepherds and hounds. It was a very nice play group full of stunning lookers.
I stumbled upon a key news article as well, fitting for the coming holiday.
My tip, for if a panicked-pup won't come to you... Lie down onto the ground, face and belly down. Cover your face with your hands and make high-pitched "sad" or "whimpering" sounds. Don't chase after the dog unless it truly bolts. This sounds crazy, going against most of our initial reactions, but I have seen it work! Many times, a frantic canine will wonder what the heck you are doing and come to investigate. At that moment, you can roll over and snatch them up, hopefully lol! If that doesn't work, your better have legs like Usain and or pray that they're micro chipped.

P.S. I chased down and caught a dog once a few years ago... From Fort Fido down to Starbucks. No, the dog didn't get loose from our place *knocks on wood*. It was a rescue dog that jumped from this gals vehicle when she stopped by to check us out. Either way, I was extremely lucky to have caught up with it, scored me some kudos for sure! :)
Crazy fun in the Big Roll. Bella, Stella and Abby have a gnarly play session. Checkout Aliisa's smooth moves towards the end, man, she's an agile Airedale!
From the Medium Roll, Barkley and Diego have a good wrestling match. The same goes for Jasmine and Niko, what fun! Our last clip is of Bella the doodle and new Fort Fido Friend Emily having a go.
Our week has started off with a bang, we had to assessments this morning.
First up was Gemma. She is a nine month old, 47 pound gold colored Goldendoodle. Gemma is a lovely dog and she had a fantastic time ripping around in the Medium Roll.
The second pooch was Buzz. He is a two year old, 70 pound Airedale. Buzz is a rescue dog and a real sweetheart. He has only been with his current owner for a couple weeks. After Buzz settles into his new home we expect him to enjoy the fort a lot more.
