Rigby & Rome

Say hello to this handsome guy, Rigby. He's a little over three months old and weighs only twenty pounds; this boy has some growin to do! Rigby entered The Fort with confidence and ease when we met him Thursday morning. He was a very curious and young-spirited little puppy that was ready to burn some energy! One of the first dogs he met was a year old Goldendoodle  named Maile that joined us around this time last year. Check out the two of them meeting for the first time in the videos below.

This video was filmed right after Maile arrived for the day. As you can see, it didn't take them long to become buddies.

Here they are goofing off and being silly with each other.

Rome was today's assessment. This sweetie is a two year old, sixty pound, Labrador Retriever. She joined our Medium Dog Program  a little shy; she wandered around the play area and sniffed everything she could find but once she became familiar with her surroundings, she defiantly came out of her shell. She particularly took a great liking to one of The Fort's regulars, Petey.
Check em out having a blast together below!

Here she is mingling among the pack- but ends up going back to playing with Petey in the end. Lol

Both Rigby and Rome are welcome to come back anytime! I hope you all enjoyed your Fridays,

Playful Pippa

Today we had the pleasure of meeting Pippa the playful puppy! Pippa is a 3.5 month-old, 20 lbs., Golden Doodle. She came into Fort Fido confident and ready to rock out. She casually made her way into our Medium Dog Program. Within our Medium Dog Program Pippa met many other pups and began to romp around the entire program. She spent a lot of time playing with Zoey. Check out the clip below for a glimpse into Pippa's fun day. =)

We hope to see Pippa return soon to make more friends,

- Delightful Daisy -

Today we met the delightful Daisy. Daisy is a 7 month-old, 47 lbs., Goldendoodle. She came in happy with her tail wagging away. As soon as she entered our Medium Dog Program, Daisy knew that she would be able to relax and have fun at The Fort. Shortly after she entered our Medium Dog Program, Daisy met a pup named Zoey. These two immediately began to play about and had a blast. Check out the video below to see the fun.

We are looking forward to seeing Daisy return for more action soon!

Have an awesome day,
- Zach

Double Trouble!

Coincidentally, The Fort's team met up with two different Otis's recently...

Yesterday, we Assessed Otis (Hay). He is a happy-go-lucky, three year old, seventy-five pound, Goldendoodle. One gregarious dog, Otis, entered the Big Roll Play Area with ease and excitement. He was quite happy to meet and greet with every canine that entered after him. Otis held his joyful disposition throughout his whole visit. It was nice to see a new canine so calm and content on a first day... And although he didn't get into too much rowdy-play, he socialized a lot, and truly enjoyed his time spent with the pack.

Early this morning we met our second Otis, Otis (For). He is a bubbly, seven month old, forty pound, Cockapoo. Now this Otis is also super sweet, yet he is still much a high-energy and bouncy young pup, one that is still learning manners. To get him started at Fort Fido, we led him to the Medium Roll Play Area, which proved to be a very nice fit . There, Otis explored cheerfully, and got his badge picture taken. After that, it was time to meet some pack members. Otis met first with Cooper, and it was down-right perfect. Almost exactly the same age, Otis and Cooper hit it off instantly! The two lively canines sprinted and spun about the Medium Roll, in a furry of fun play. As time passed, Otis continued to meet with the different dogs that arrived, and most importantly, continued to play tons and have fun. Otis and his owners can get a lot out of Dog Daycare!

Here, Otis (For) rips around with Cooper:

Both Otis (Hay) and Otis (For) did an outstanding job on their Assessment Days, we plan on seeing them again very soon.

Be well,

-Grant

An Early Happy Birthday...

To Miss Sophie-Alice! She is a long time doodley friend of The Fort. Sophie turns a tender six years old this coming Thursday. I wanted to mention this now, because I will have a few new pups to blog about over the next two days. So anywho, way to go girl! Here's to another six years, that I know, you most certainly have in you lol! ;) Sophie Alice is one healthy and super-fit canine... Thanks to her mother's frequent and lengthy walks, weekly day trips to Fort Fido, and even Overnight stays. A special thank you goes out to Sophie's owners, Sue and John, for their continuous support over the last five+ years. We truly appreciate it. Thank you for your business.

Again, Happy Birthday Sophie-Alice!

Take it easy y'all,

-Grant

A shiny new Penny!

This morning we were delighted to assess new pup Penny. She is a four month old, twenty-five pound, blonde colored, Goldendoodle. Penny's "Dog Aunt", Ruby, has been coming to The Fort for over a year. Penny stayed with us and the pack in our Medium Roll. She was happy, playful, and pleased to meet with the other dogs. A very well rounded young dog, Penny interacted nicely with the group. She greeted and played with many dogs, including Fort Fido regulars, Lucy and Yuki. We are lucky to have a nice new doodle amongst our ranks. First-rate job today Penny, we hope to see you soon!

Here's a little clip of Penny in action:

Be well,

Effervescent Emma!

This morning we had the pleasure of adding a sweet old Goldendoodle gal named Emma to our medium pack. Although she is eight years old, Emma is in great shape and had a great time palling around with fellow 'doodle Cody (who is about seven years her junior). These two look like they could have been cousins, even though Cody is an Australian Labradoodle. They were great "peas in a pod" and were caught on camera this morning.

This well-rounded pup makes a great addition to our pack, and will continue to get along swimmingly.

We've been adding a great bunch of pups this week, and a big thanks to all of you for continuing to spread the word about the Fort!

Admirable Arly

Meet Arly! She is a ten month old, about forty-five pound, white/light peach colored, Goldendoodle that had her assessment a few weeks ago. Arly has been by The Fort once a week for a couple of sessions now... She is here to sharpen and hone her "Dog Communication Skills" and become more social with other canines. Arly has been spending her time in our Medium Roll and hasn't done half bad. She doesn't mind the others and isn't fearful or anxiety ridden about the situation. She just won't play, yet! We will never count her out. It would be of no surprise to us if one day, Arly busted out into rigorous play with members of the Medium Pack.

The wily one-eyed Marley, almost got Arly to play last Wednesday. He pulled out every trick in the book (Exaggerated Play Bows, Spins, Butt-Pushing lol, etc...) to entice her into activity, however, it didn't quite happen. Arly is a great dog with a striking look. She is wonderful with people and is welcome to Fort Fido anytime. Hopefully, with consistent attendance and time, she'll "let her hair down" a bit and enter into that realm of play which is the heart of our operation. Luckily for her owners, although she isn't "playing" much, she doesn't just lay around. She's big on prancing about, getting a quick rear-end sniff in and generally being active. That's mainly why we think there is still much hope for this fine doodle gal.

Take it easy,

-Grant

Revered Ruby

Hi there, feast your eyes on Ruby! She is a four month old, thirty pound, Goldendoodle that had her assessment this morning. Ruby is a very sweet dog with quite a ravishing look about her. She is attending Fort Fido for socialization because she tends to be a bit timid around other canines. In our Medium Roll, Ruby did just fine, despite not interacting too much with the other pack members. The good thing is that Ruby did not act fearful or uncomfortable around the other dogs, she just didn't engage them. There is much hope left for her. We believe Ruby may come around to playing with the pups after some daycare-consistency.

Ruby is currently enrolled in, and doing well in, our Basic Obedience and Leadership class. Dog trainer extraordinaire Garrett Stevens, runs the class, it fills up quickly and it's popular!

Swell job today Ruby, we shall see you again soon.

Have a nice weekend, enjoy the weather,

-Grant

Welcome Bella!

Bella had her assessment this morning. She is a wonderful, 30 pound, six month old, Black Goldendoodle. Bella did absolutely marvelous. She is very social, frolicking and romping with the best of the Medium Roll. Great job Bella, we'll see you again soon!

Have a nice day everybody!

P.S. Here are a couple of articles found today that I'd like to pass on, Oil spill refugee dogs and Pet Travel: Airlines with the most dog deaths. Not the happiest reading but good info none the less.

Welcome Bailey Magoo & some wild pics

Bailey Magoo had his assessment this morning. He is a swell looking four year old, 95 pound, Goldendoodle. Bailey hung out in the Big Roll and did fairly well. We plan on seeing more of Mr. Magoo!

I found these four awesome pictures online, they aren't photoshopped either (Click to englarge)! :)

Enjoy the weather!

Another double whammy!

Our week has started off with a bang, we had to assessments this morning.

First up was Gemma. She is a nine month old, 47 pound gold colored Goldendoodle. Gemma is a lovely dog and she had a fantastic time ripping around in the Medium Roll.

The second pooch was Buzz. He is a two year old, 70 pound Airedale. Buzz is a rescue dog and a real sweetheart. He has only been with his current owner for a couple weeks. After Buzz settles into his new home we expect him to enjoy the fort a lot more.

Cheers,

A double header!

We had two assessments at the fort this morning. The first was Pepper, she is a eight month old, 55 pound Labrador Retriever. What can I say about Pepper... She is high energy, even after a two mile run! She is the rowdiest we've seen since Ryker (and of course they became friends instantly) lol. Although she's super spunky, Pepper is a good dog. I am sure we will see her in the Big Roll again soon.

Our second assessment was Abby. Abby is a six month old, 43 pound, Goldendoodle with beautiful black and white hair (haven't seen too many like her). Abby wasn't quite as gung-ho as Miss Pepper but she did awesome and really seemed to enjoy herself. Abby is going to be a splendid addition to the Medium Roll.

Boy am I stoked for tomorrow's weather! Get out there and enjoy it! :)

P.S. You gotta check this article out, what a trek!
