This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Azul. She is a four-year-old, seventy-five-pound, Chow Chow. Azul hung out in our Large Dog Program where she enjoyed mingling with the other dogs. She had a great first day, and is welcome back any time. We look forward to seeing her again soon.
Huck came in for his assessment yesterday morning. He is a one-year-old, fifty-six-pound, Australian Shepherd mix. Huck joined our Medium Dog Program and had a blast playing with Ollie the Whippet. Huck did a great job and passed his assessment with flying colors. We hope to see him again soon.
This sweet old girl is an Alaskan Malamute/Australian Shepherd mix that's thirteen years old and weighs sixty five pounds. She came in our doors this morning knowing what was in store for her. Sweetness is a Doggie Daycare Veteran that used to go to a different daycare quite a bit, back in her younger years. She wondered our Large Dog Program, sniffed around, and reminisced of the past; I think she's happy to be back in an environment like this. I can tell she's very relaxed here.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting this delightful Daisy. Daisy is a 7 month-old, 30 lbs., Aussie Shepherd / Beagle. This Daisy bloomed as soon as she met another dog, within our Medium Dog Program, as if it were already spring. She hit it off with Frankie and fit right in with the others during her stay. We are looking forward to seeing Daisy return for more great times.
Welcome McGinnis and Bella to Fort Fido. McGinnis is a 10-year-old Austrilian Sheppard and Bella is a 1 1/2 year-old Shih Tzu Mix. McGinnis strolled right on into medium roll while Bella confidently entered into small roll. They both found out right away that The Fort is all about having fun and that they can relax here. McGinnis may not have played a lot today but he enjoyed mingling and meeting the pack. Bella really enjoyed her time here and with some more time would surely play about with the others. We look forward to seeing both McGinnis and Bella return to Fort Fido for some more fun.
Yesterday we Assessed Kaylee, she is a nine month old, about twenty-five pound, Labrador Retriever and Boxer Mix. Now Kaylee is a very sweet, yet very shy and timid canine. She is here at The Fort, to socialize, play, and gain some confidence. We escorted Kaylee to the Medium Play Area, where she was quite unsure about what she was here to do... However, upon meeting some other canines, Kaylee quickly blossomed, it was an awesome surprise! What she lacks in confidence with humans and new surroundings, she makes up for ten-fold, in dog-play and socialization. Kaylee sprinted around, and played hard with several different members of the Medium Roll's pack. It was a pleasure to see. We believe that Fort Fido can do a lot for Kaylee's confidence and well being. Given time and consistency, we know she can become an even better, and less timid adult dog.

Today we had a doubleheader of Assessments. Meet Jupiter and Rainier!
Rainier is a calm, eight month old, fifty pound, Black and White Colored, Australian Shepherd.
Jupiter and Rainier are the type of dogs that would be able to handle both our Medium and Large Play areas. To warm them up to our place, we had them try the Medium Roll on for size. One therein, the two "dog brothers" explored their new surroundings merrily. After a few minutes, it was time to begin to meet the pack. Both Jupiter and Rainier did so properly, and with gusto! They befriended several of the pack members within minutes. They took a real liking to Louis, Shiva, and Otis, among others. We were thrilled to see these two high-energy herding dogs, fit in so well, play, and be liked by the pack so quickly. We have a feeling that We'll be seeing these two dudes again for sure!

The Fort welcomed in a real player this morning... Meet Pete! He is a fun-loving, two year old, fifty pound, Australian Shepherd. Now Pete bound into the building ready and rarin to go. Like a bullet, he shot to The Medium Roll, with positive high-energy, and Dog Wrangler, Zach, in tow lol. It was quite clear that Pete was 100% ready to figure out what Fort Fido is all about. Upon entry into the play area, Pete met up with Louis, and the two hit it off instantly. Ya see, Pete is a very social canine, he meets and greets dogs well, just wanting to play and make buds, with any dog that's game. It sure is great to welcome in a new dog that truly likes to play, socialize, and fit in with the pack real proper like. This Pete fella definitely does all of that, and he is most welcome here. Well done today Pete!

Get a load of Triumph! He is a six year old, fifty-five pound, Australian Shepherd Mix, that hung out in The Fort's Medium Roll.
Even though Fort Fido was new territory for Triumph, he is no stranger to the Dog Daycare scene, and seemingly enjoys the experience. New to Washington, Triumph is a Veteran of Doggie Daycares in and around The Bay Area.
From our observations, he very well enjoyed being in the company of other canines here. Although he didn't play much today, we hope, and suspect, that he will "bust out" in the future. Nice job today Triumph, we'll see you again soon.

Meet Molly, she is a one year old, sixty pound, Blue Merle Australian Shepherd / Labrador Retriever Mix. Molly is a sweet dog that did well in the large roll. Although she didn't get into a whole lot of play, she seemed rather comfortable with the experience.
Molly's "Brother" is Nelo. Nelo is a one year old, seventy pound, Black Labrador Retriever / Golden Retriever Mix... We here at The Fort, think Nelo may be a Flat Coated Retriever Mix. This striking young dog had an awesome time in our Big Roll. Quite a bit more outgoing then sister Molly, Nelo, mingled with several different pack members. He spoke great "Dog", and played heartily with Diego, among others.
Both Molly and Nelo are welcome to attend Fort Fido anytime. They will be a fine addition to the pack, and we look forward to their next visit.
Woo-hoo! We are 5-0 for assessments this week. All of the new dogs have been exceptional.
This morning we met Buster and Rocky. Both were admirable young canines that had a lively time in our Medium Roll.
Meet Buster. He is a ten month old, fifty pound, German/Australian Shepherd Mix. Buster is all dog and has a strong look. He played briskly, straight from the get go. Buster spoke great "DOG" and found a best friend in Macs. He also enjoyed new dog, Rocky, immensely. We've said it before, sometimes, "opposites attract".
Now on to Rocky. He's a six month old, fifteen pound, Pug/Dachshund Mix. Talk about personality! Rocky has a spunky and energetic spirit. Like buster, he pretty much went straight to play once he got to the play area. Rocky attempted to get every dog to play with him and they pretty much did lol. Rocky liked Buster too, it was neat to see two newbies hit it off so well.
Buster and Rocky qualified to attend The Fort whenever they like. Hopefully we will see them regularly. They are the type of dogs that truly benefit from coming to Fort Fido. Who knows, maybe they'll be "down a notch" tonight as well, then their owners can also benefit.

She is a nine month old, about thirty pound, Tri-Color, Australian Shepherd. Pupcake came into Fort Fido full of high-energy, ready to get to it. We started her in the Medium Roll where she stayed and prospered. Pupcake got along well with the other pack members, she played quite a bit and seemingly enjoyed her stay. Welcome Pupcakes ;), you can comeback anytime and we hope you will.
First was Ari. Ari is a four month old, thirty-seven pound, Australian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever Mix. He is a pleasant boy that did darn good in the Medium Roll. Ari played and seemed to enjoy himself.
Our second assessment was Buddha. Buddha is a three month old, five pound, Puggle (Pug/Beagle Mix) that is a Little Roll candidate at this time. He headed upstairs and did stupendous, Buddha really played hard. Buddha may graduate to the Medium Roll someday, he is fearless with limitless energy.
We plan on seeing these two pups again soon. Way to go you two!
Niko was this morning's assessment. He is a adorable, four month old, 20 pound, Australian Shepherd / Sheba Inu mix. Niko is one awesome little dog. He had a blast today upstairs in the Little Roll (but may venture to the Medium Roll as he grows) and we hope he'll be tired!
