Dinky Diva!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Diva, the 5 1/2 year old Cairn Terrier. Diva was a happy little gal and unlike her namesake was sweet as pie for her assessment. She got along great with the other little pups and is sure to make a name for herself around here. Faramir, a Fort Fido pack member, and another Cairn Terrier is sure to be thrilled when they meet eachother.

Thanks for tuning in and be sure to check back next week for more!

Inspecting Watson!

Today we got the pleasure of welcoming Watson, the 1 1/2 year old English Cocker Spaniel

Elementary my dear Watson!

Watson did an awesome job this morning romping with the Med. Rollers. With such a nice demeanor its no surprise that this cute pup is from Canada. Regularly attending daycare in Vancouver has set him up great for tons of fun here at Fort Fido. Also, as our first Canadian fort friend, he is setting the bar high for future visitors from our neighbor up north!

It was truly a pleasure to meet this pup today, and hopefully they return soon, so that we get another chance!
Thanks for reading and be sure to check in on Monday for this weekends assessments!

Welcome, Luna!

Today we had the pleasure of meeting this sweet, 17 weeks old, Lab/Shepherd mix named Luna. Luna settled right in to the medium roll and started playing straightaway. Luna met quite a few new dogs today but her favorites seemed to be Rusty and Marlee. Luna has a great personality and an excellent temperament, we look forward to seeing her again soon.

Here is a quick video clip we got this morning of Luna and Rusty in the medium roll.

Have a great week,
-Matt

Lady Liberty

We made another new friend this morning at the Fort-- seven-month-old Boxer Liberty. She was the perfect social butterfly, and was fast friends with many of our buddies. Louis captured her heart immediately, and the two took to each other very well. Not long afterward, Odin and Samwise joined the pack and she was just as excited to meet these two new gentlemen!

She definitely fits right in with our rambunctious pack, and we're excited to know that we'll be hanging out again soon.

Baby Blue!

This little stunner is Blue, a nine week old, Old English Bulldog (like our longtime buddy Louis!). Tipping the scales at a scant eight pounds, the sweet and spunky gal started out upstairs with the other little guys, but it became pretty apparent that the personality of this wild child would be better suited to the medium roll. She's all about playtime, and did her best to keep up the pace!

We caught this great clip of her and Cortez in the early morning, having a blast!

We'll be seeing her back again soon,

Little Lily

Coming in on the heels of all our other assessments this week was Little Lily. A pretty little Golden Retriever pup, Lily spent her morning getting to know the medium dogs. This sweet eight-month-old was very excitable in the lobby, although she wasn't too sure of herself around the other pups. Since she is in that good window for puppy socialization, with consistency both here and at home, we hope to see this pretty little flower blossom!

It looks like the sun may be coming out for the weekend, make sure you take some time to enjoy it!

Tron: the legacy continues!

Today we got to meet Tron the Greyhound. He was born and bred to race. Luckily enough he was rescued into a great home and he now lives the leisurely life as a lovable pet, and at 3 and 1/2 yrs old, he is a seasoned doggie daycare attendee. Not too quick to jump into play, he nosed around the large roll speaking good dog and really took a shining to Gage the boxer.

Generally Greyhounds are very quiet. However if they are unhappy, they will announce it by howling. Multi-Greyhound homes are sometimes serenaded by a group chorus, or 'rooing' just for the sheer joy of it.

Fun Fact about Greyhounds! They tend to sleep with their eyes wide open!!

Dashing Dax

This morning we met a nice gentleman by the name of Dax. This charming seven-year-old Australian Cattle Dog joined up with the other medium dogs to get the lay of the land here at the Fort. A daycare veteran from Colorado, Dax stayed calm and confident throughout his stay this morning. He wasn't quite ready to bust out all the stops with our other pack members, but he spoke very good "dog" and had a great "Alpha" sort of presence about him.

We'll be hanging out with this handsome guy more this weekend.

Beautiful Beau

Early this morning we met yet another fun pup-- a sweet cream colored Golden-Retriever mix named Beau. He didn't waste any of his time getting right in to play with the medium dogs, and went right to work putting his charms on with Rudy. They were fast friends, and had a great morning together!

Beau fit right in with our pack and daycare environment, and it should go a long way towards keeping him happy and entertained.

Here's to even more fun days in the future!

Effervescent Emma!

This morning we had the pleasure of adding a sweet old Goldendoodle gal named Emma to our medium pack. Although she is eight years old, Emma is in great shape and had a great time palling around with fellow 'doodle Cody (who is about seven years her junior). These two look like they could have been cousins, even though Cody is an Australian Labradoodle. They were great "peas in a pod" and were caught on camera this morning.

This well-rounded pup makes a great addition to our pack, and will continue to get along swimmingly.

We've been adding a great bunch of pups this week, and a big thanks to all of you for continuing to spread the word about the Fort!

Another New Member Of The Pack!

This Monday morning we welcomed Sierra, an Australian Cattle Dog, She was very excited to get to play with the other daycare dogs, especially with Dakota dutifully watching over her. After getting warmed up to the energy levels here at The Fort, she opened right up and started her first play day with Avi the Corgi.

We were super excited to meet another member of Dakota's family, and I'd bet that just like her Sister, we will be seeing her often :)

Welcome to the pack, Ginger!

Today we welcomed Ginger, a two and a half year old Lab Mix. She came to see us because of the expert advice of  her buddy, Sophie Alice. Ginger is a very sweet tempered, and curious pup. She had lots of new scents to check out, not only in the lobby but back with the pack as well.

Not quick to jump into play, but very nice and spoke great dog! I'm sure that once Ginger becomes accustomed to the environment here at The Fort she will start to open up and play more with the other Big Rollers. Ginger was lucky to have found and been found by such amazing owners, at the humane society approx. 6 1/2 months ago. We're happy to have her and looking forward to seeing her again soon!

Two New Friends

The Small dog pack and the Medium dog pack both got one dog bigger today!

Upstairs, we met the little sister of Fort Fido friend Gus. Her name is Izzie and she's a year-old terrier mix-- a darn cute one at that! Although she was a bit shy of people, she did really seem to enjoy the pack. This lucky little lady is a rescue, who seems to be settling well into her new home.

Our medium buddy was this dapper gentleman with a sly and mischievous streak. Louis is a Boston Terrier-Pug mix, otherwise known as a Bugg. He did really well with the other medium guys, and made friends with Bogie. The two were caught on film romping in the morning!

We are fortunate to have such great dogs coming in to join up with us, and we look forward to seeing more of them. Thanks for helping to make Fort Fido such a great place for everyone!

A welcome to Ruby & a couple links

The fort had a new recruit today! Early this morning we assessed "Ruby". She is a five month old, 35 pound, lab mix pup. Ruby fit in well with the pack and had a superb first day. She is super cute and looks like she could be a sibling of Ruger & Dakota! Way to go Ruby!

I found this news noteworthy and this article to be first-rate, take a look.

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. I heard through the grapevine that last night's class went well. I hope everyone had a good time, now get to practicing! :)~
