Reese & Shiva

Yesterday we had Reese in for her Assessment Day. She is a two year old, forty-one pound, brindle, Pit Bull Terrier and Australian Cattle Dog Mix. Reese's first couple of years have been tough. Unfortunately, she was abused, and on top of that, just got done having a litter of puppies. It's been a roller coaster for her. Fortunately however, she has just been rescued and has found a loving forever-home with her new owner. The great thing about Reese, is that although she's a bit timid around people at first, she is fantastic with other canines! She speaks very good "Dog", and socializes with other canines most properly. Reese had a blast in The Fort's Big Roll, where she made several friends quickly and easily. It's cool to see such a resilient canine in action.

Bright and early this morning we Assessed Shiva! She is a stunning, five month old, thirty pound, German Shepherd. Alert and excited, Shiva was quite ready to explore her new surroundings... It was also hilarious when she barked a bit before coming in, after noticing our "dog silhouettes" on the outside of the building. Your typical German Shepherd, Shiva, is good looking and highly intelligent, she will continue to need very strong leadership to grow into a calm and balanced adult dog. Due to her small size, Shiva hung-out in Fort Fido's Medium Roll. There, she met with the Medium Roll pack healthily. For a pup, she did a real fine job of meeting, greeting, and "speaking" with the elder-dogs. When it came to playing, Shiva was extremely into it! She "got down" with several of the Medium Rollers, and took quite a liking to Otis, among others.

Reese and Shiva can both get a ton out of Dog Daycare. We are ecstatic to have them amongst our ranks!

Jack McCoy

Today the Fort Fido crew got the chance to assess the good-looking-livewire, Jack McCoy. Jack is a fun, three month old, twenty-four pound, Boxer and GSD Mix. Jack was escorted to the Medium Roll, where he would spend his day with dogs of a similar size and play-style. Although he had a bit of trepidation at first, about being "alone", Jack did fine, his separation anxiety easing, as soon as other dogs arrived. Jack is a smart young pup that enjoys the company of other canines, with Mac and Max being his favorite new dog-pals today. Jack is learning how to socialize properly and play fair... So far so good, he is well on his way to becoming a healthy and well rounded adult canine. Because he is quite excitable and cute, Jack requires strong leadership and routine to be at his best. Lucky for him, his owners want to, and are, doing right by him. He is most welcome to The Fort, and we hope that he continues to thrive here. Puppies can get a lot out of Dog Daycare, especially given time and consistency. Keen Kate

Today we assessed Kate. She is a very social, four year old, eighty pound, German Shepherd. Kate entered into Fort Fido raring to go. She stepped into the Big Roll, as the first entry of the morning, full of excitement and curiosity. As dogs arrived, Kate greeted them in a smart and friendly fashion. The pack continued to grow throughout the morning, while Kate continued to be happy and content in her surroundings. This German Shepherd gal, has definitely socialized and played with other canines many times before. She was a pleasure to have in here today. Kate, we're glad you had a great time in here, and we hope to see you again soon.

- Bijou -

 

Yesterday morning, we met up with Bijou for her assessment. She is a gorgeous, two year old, sixty-four pound, standard, black and tan colored, German Shepherd. Like the majority of German Shepherds that attend Fort Fido, Bijou, visited with us in the Big Roll. She wasn't quite sure what to make of the place at first.... She was a bit hesitant, and sort of just sat back, slowly taking in her new surroundings. As the pack grew, Bijou branched out a little bit by, walking around, sniffing others, and meeting most of the group. Bijou is a very beautiful German Shepherd. She is a Rescue Dog, and knowing about her past ahead of time, helped us understand Bijou's weariness of new experiences. Lucky for Bijou, she has scored herself an outstanding new home and owner. We believe, given time and consistency, that Bijou will begin to branch out even more here at The Fort. Hopefully she'll really "let her hair down" and have some fun playing with the others. If not, that is ok, because for now she is content just being amongst the pack. Bijou is welcome to hangout with us any time she'd like, and it looks like we'll be seeing her soon.
