Dinky Diva!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Diva, the 5 1/2 year old Cairn Terrier. Diva was a happy little gal and unlike her namesake was sweet as pie for her assessment. She got along great with the other little pups and is sure to make a name for herself around here. Faramir, a Fort Fido pack member, and another Cairn Terrier is sure to be thrilled when they meet eachother.

Thanks for tuning in and be sure to check back next week for more!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to everyone, hopefully you had a wonderful 4th. The dogs had a great time here, and thankfully, slept well.

I have two cute clips for you today.

Josie, Marlee, Seamus and Wubs (AKA Faramir) had a lot of Ball Time fun together, this morning, in the Little Roll.

After Independence Day excitement, Bear (Baer) and Jasper were just ready to "Chillax". How precious haha.

Also, I watched this cool clip on Youtube's "Most Viewed" the other day. It's a Dog Goldberg Machine, you know, "Rube Goldberg style", but with dogs haha! It's very rad, however, I will say this... And I'm ok with saying it... Beneful (Purina) stinks! Solely "my personal opinion" of course lol.

At least try this food for your canine companion instead.

;)

Have a wonderful weekend,

-Grant

A new pack member!

Today at The Fort we had a gorgeous seven year old wire haired dachshund, Gus, come for his assessment. He has a great attitude and was really excited to meet new pup buddies! He didn't seem too interested in getting any playtime in, as he was too busy inspecting the other medium rollers and finding his place. Faramir, long time Fort Fido friend, and great ambassador, helped Gus feel at home when other friends started to arrive and as things started to liven up around The Fort.

After seeing his reaction to The Fort this morning, I bet that once Gus is accustomed to daycare and has positive experiences to associate with it, that he will have even more fun playing with his new friends!

See you later this week, Gus!!

P.s. Don't forget to grab your Fort Fido Stickers and a copy of The Pet Connection from our lobby on your next visit!!

Santa Claus is coming to town...

Rather, "Santa Butters", is coming to town hahaha! You may recognize Buddy, he is one of Fort Fido's poster boys. He is a very handsome American Eskimo that has been coming to The Fort for years. You just can't beat his striking look! It's been awesome to use pictures of Buddy for marketing, specifically our Website/Blog Logo. He is one photogenic little canine. Twas hilarious this morning when Butters came in as Kris Kringle, we had to get a pic of it.

Long time Fort attendee, Black Pearl, brought us in some excellent Christmas Cookies. Thank you! Ironically enough, Hope, with Dave's glasses as a prop, looked very similar to the "Cool Santa" depicted on the sugary dough haha! Nancy had to score a photo of that one.

I'll leave you with four clips of The Rolls. Two from the Medium, one from the Big and one long one from the Little Roll.

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. Just a side note, other dogs in our Website/Blog Logo include (From left to Right) Faramir, Mr. Bingley, Lola and Ruger. All but Mr. Bingley still attend and have been doing so since 2006. Thanks dogs for looking so good! ;)
P.P.S. Here is Buddy from 2009 in another costume lol!

SHOTS - LINKS

Our very first customer, Faramir AKA Wubbie (among other aliases), tore it up right today with Beagle Mix buddy, Buddha, in the Medium Roll.

Also from medium, Barkley did what he does best here everyday... Stir the pot! :)

Everything was normal in the Little Roll, they're off to the ball races, every pups favorite sport.

In the Big Roll, Abby, Abby and Ziva were an unstoppable trio.

My favorite clip...

Of the day and some links to some great articles found today.

This one is from the Medium Roll. It shows Lucy and Patty becoming the best of pals... Meanwhile pup Emily does a fun play-bow-wiggle-dance to entice Faramir (Our very first customer) into play. Cute!

Busy, busy...

We had two more assessments this morning. What a whirlwind of a week, Friday soon already?

Anywho, meet Mia. She is a nine month old, ten pound (?), chocolate brown and silver highlighted, darling, Cocker Spaniel. Mia did exceptionally well upstairs in the Little Roll. She had a lot of fun with the "Mini Pack" and we all hope she'll attend more frequently.

Next up was Marley. He is a one year old, sixty-five pound, spunky, Golden Retriever. Marley was a Big Roll canidate. He took to the pack alright but has some things to learn. Marley is a handsome looking dog, we hope he'll attend more so he can work on his social skills. He wasn't bad (Or he wouldn't be on the blog lol), he was just a pistol.

:)

In other news, one of my fellow band members (Yes, I play the Bagpipes in a PipeBand, more on that at a later date) Jeff sent me a link to one of his great video clips. Check it out here... Unfortunately Hector has passed. I'll bet he was an amazing dog, I'm a fan of Cairn Terriers. Our very first customer (almost five years ago) was Faramir the Cairn Terrier (you know, Toto). He still comes to this day.

Cheers,

-Grant

Funny

Last Friday I posted a little writeup on Faramir. His owner Dori shot me over a hilarious email. I thought that I'd share an excerpt of it with y'all:

Now, Lord Faramir, on the other hand, was very upset as I read it to him, as he has a very feminine side that is quite sensitive about the fact that you mentioned his weight. Also, he was not previously aware (we've kept it from him all these years) that he was some kind of celebrity, used on the website, etc. I just caught him pawing at the phone trying to call an attorney so that he can sue for defamation (the weight issue) and residuals (modeling fees, etc.). I'll try my best to reason with him, but you know how single-minded he is. This could easily end up costing you about 175,000 bi$cuits!

Hahaha, good stuff! Cheers,

-Grant

Faramir

Faramir was Fort Fido's very first customer. He has been with us two days a week from the start and we absolutely love him! Faramir is a Cairn Terrier and unlike Toto, he is large for his breed (taller than most & about 22 pounds) and Wheaten in color. His name comes from the Lord of the Rings trilogy (books and films). "Wubbie" is Faramir's nick name and we use many variations of it. He is quite photogenic, appearing in various Fort Fido media (website version 1 & 2, marketing photos, etc...).

One of Wubbie's most memorable capers is the day he decided to run into the office. Rather than leap into the medium play area, wubbs did a one-eighty and hightailed it down the hall to the office. Once inside, he managed to get up onto a chair and snag a roll of Fig Newtons! He proceeded to sprint back to the play area with the "fruit and cake" in tow, classic lol!

A special thanks goes out to Farmair's owners Dori and Mo for being such wonderful customers and supporting our business for so long, thank you, it is much appreciated!

Have a great weekend everyone,

-Grant
