Eva & Maximus
Eva joined our Small Dog Program yesterday morning with grace and ease. She's a three year old, Maltese/ Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle Mix that weighs ten pounds. When she first entered her new play area, she romped around with the other dogs, scoped out her surroundings, and discovered one of our cool benches where she then jumped onto and hung out; looking all pretty. I think her name definitely suits her. She's just about as graceful as the famous, Ava Gardner herself.
This morning we welcomed Maximus into The Fort for his assessment. He's a very handsome one in a half year old Boxer that weighs forty five pounds. We noticed right away that this one is a social butterfly. He had a lot of fun meeting and greeting his new dog friends, and played quite a bit. He fit right in with all the other dogs in our Large Dog Program just as if he was the missing puzzle piece.
Both Eva and Max are more than welcome to come back whenever they please.
Have a wonderful night.

Marvelous Marvel
This is not the dog Marvel
This is the correct Marvel, the 35 lbs., 7 month-old, Golden Retriever, Labrador, & Poodle mix. He began in our Large Dog Program today. Marvel went about sniffing and exploring The Fort, getting to know his surroundings. It took him a few, however he slowly but surely figured out that Fort Fido is a place that he can relax and make friends at. After beginning to relax and fit in, it was time for Marvel to head home to await their next visit. We are looking forward to seeing Marvel return to make more friends.
Have a nice day,
- Zach

Pretty Lexi
Lexi and Barkley are only a few months apart in age, darn close, and almost close enough for me to say "separated at birth", but not quite lol. Keep in mind, this is Barkley's baby-badge-picture, he's only three months old in this shot.
Have a nice weekend,
-Grant

Quality Quinn
Meet Quinn! He is a one year old, sixty-two pound, Golden Retriever and Poodle Mixed Breed. Quinn had his assessment bright and early this morning, in The Fort's Big Roll. Quite the social-butterfly, Quinn took to the pack with ease. He frequents the dog park, and has attended Dog Daycare several times before, it's clear that he has been socialized properly. Quinn did a first-rate job here today at Fort Fido, he'll be a pleasure to have amongst our ranks.
Take a look at these cool clips of Quinn having a good-old-time with Chance, Shadow, and Theodore.
Be well,
-Grant

Two new dogs!
This last Saturday, we assessed Cooper. He is a darn-cute, three month old, twelve pound, Black Labrador Retriever. Cooper did really well here with the Medium Roll pack. He is a very sweet and exited young puppy, eager to please and play. Cooper got along nicely, becoming pals with Pepper (to no surprise) and Seamus.Bella had her assessment this morning. She is a beautiful, nine month old, 55 pound, Sheepadoodle. Bella tried out both The Big, and Medium Rolls. After a bit of time, she ended up feeling right at home with the Medium Roll Pack. There, Bella wagged and engaged in a bit of play with a few different canines (including Cooper). It was a great first visit for Bella.
Both Cooper and Bella are welcome back here to The Fort anytime. We can't wait to have them in again.
You can catch a glimpse of Bella and Cooper in the following clip.
Take care,
-Grant

An Early Happy Birthday...

To Miss Sophie-Alice! She is a long time doodley friend of The Fort. Sophie turns a tender six years old this coming Thursday. I wanted to mention this now, because I will have a few new pups to blog about over the next two days. So anywho, way to go girl! Here's to another six years, that I know, you most certainly have in you lol! ;) Sophie Alice is one healthy and super-fit canine... Thanks to her mother's frequent and lengthy walks, weekly day trips to Fort Fido, and even Overnight stays. A special thank you goes out to Sophie's owners, Sue and John, for their continuous support over the last five+ years. We truly appreciate it. Thank you for your business.
Again, Happy Birthday Sophie-Alice!
Take it easy y'all,
-Grant

Long live The King!
Feast your eyes on this handsome devil!King, is a three month old, eight pound, Shiba Inu and Poodle Mix. Like royalty, this little prince marched into The Fort happy, curious and full of life! King had an all-out blast upstairs in our Little Roll. He played hard, loving every minute of his time here. King really liked our toy selection and pack members. From the clips that follow, you can see that King is learning how to play fair with the others... There's a bit of a learning curve hahaha. Luckily we have some very patient canine teachers upstairs lol! This bundle of cute did great today. He'll stay in the Little Roll for now but he may "graduate" in the future, we'll see how it goes. The Medium Roll may be right up his alley.
First rate job today King, hope you were tired. We look forward to meeting you again.
Cheers,
-Grant

Top Breeds @ The Fort

The other day, I got to thinking about the various canine breeds we've encountered here at The Fort. We have had well over 600 dogs walk through our doors since 2006. It's a bit tricky for us to determine how many different breeds there has been (including mixed breeds), but we would guess that at least 75+ varieties of dogs have attended.
With that said, here are the Top Five Breeds from Fort Fido Doggie Daycare. This was no trouble for us to figure out as it has become quite clear over the years.

1. The Labrador Retriever and all it's color variations. The Chocolate and Yellow Labs being the most popular. This makes a lot of sense considering the Labs make a wonderful all-around dog for any type of family or individual.
2. Oodles of Doodles... Poodles and all of their popular "designer" mixed breeds. The Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, Cockapoo, Maltipoo, Yorkipoo, Schnoodles, etc... All of these breeds are mighty cute and hypoallergenic, hence the popularity.
3. The Golden Retriever. Has been America's most popular dog breed time and time again. It reminds me of Baseball and Apple Pie lol.
4. Boxer. They have the most energy/stamina of any dog we have ever seen. Makes sense why there are several at The Fort eh? Even though they seem to be fully-ampled at all times, Boxers tend to be pretty well behaved and well rounded daycare dogs for us.
5. German Shepherd. These dogs are majestic and powerful creatures yet need much time, training and energy from their owners. They are, what we always say, "A LOT OF DOG". ;)
This was quite interesting and fun for us to think about.
We have to put the Shih Tzu as an honorable mention. We've had tons of these guys running around, besides, I wouldn't want to tick-off Mr. C !
Cheers,
-Grant
P.S. Found this interesting, you may too... The Worlds 10 Most Expensive Dog Breeds. Also, all of our Top Dogs were on the 2011 Most Popular Dog Breeds list from the AKC, no surprise there! Here is a cooler, visual, version of that same list.

Beau Beau and Griffen play hard!
Here is a clip of how hard Beau and Griffen play.
Beau is a two year old, 50 pound, black Standard Poodle that has been at the fort for about two years. He is a scrapper with high energy, very loving but you gotta keep an eye on him.
Griffen is almost two years old. He is a 68 pound, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon (not a breed I would recommend for beginners) who has been coming to us for a couple months. Talk about energy... Griffen is a hyper explosion! With his muscular physique and fancy beard he can go all day with the best of 'em.
Cheers,
-Grant
P.S. I wonder if this will be a hit or a flop?
