Jasper

This morning we were happy to greet Jasper. Jasper is a 4 year-old, 12-pound, Beagle/Papillion mix. He quickly entered the front door and was already exploring the lobby as I was meeting him. He was calm and ready as I took him up into the small roll. Within there he was able to socialize and mingle with the pack as the day went by. We are looking forward to seeing Jasper in the future!

Stay warm,

Jasper & JoJo

This morning we had the pleasure of assessing Jasper and JoJo. These neat pooches, from the same family, gave The Fort a go and did well.

Jasper, is a cool-looking, four year old, forty pound, Schnauzer Mix. He entered our Medium Roll with his tail wagging, and it became clear early on that Jasper has socialized with dogs before. Although he didn't play a whole heck of a lot, he seemed fairly comfortable spending time with the pack. He "barked dogs off", when not wanting to play, and exhibited very good bite control. Jasper even had a little "play moment", with Medium Roll regular Emmett.

Jasper's "older sister", JoJo, is a kind, thirteen year old, thirty pound, Beagle. This mature gal, stayed with us in our Little Roll. Up there, JoJo was calm and at peace, she didn't have to worry about many younger or larger dogs bumping into her, or agitating her. JoJo pretty much just lounged around, and also meandered a bit. She really did great for an older canine, not minding the few rowdy, young, whippersnappers that she did cross paths with.

Both Jasper and JoJo are welcome to visit Fort Fido any time they'd like. We hope to see them here again soon.

Be well,

-Grant

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to everyone, hopefully you had a wonderful 4th. The dogs had a great time here, and thankfully, slept well.

I have two cute clips for you today.

Josie, Marlee, Seamus and Wubs (AKA Faramir) had a lot of Ball Time fun together, this morning, in the Little Roll.

After Independence Day excitement, Bear (Baer) and Jasper were just ready to "Chillax". How precious haha.

Also, I watched this cool clip on Youtube's "Most Viewed" the other day. It's a Dog Goldberg Machine, you know, "Rube Goldberg style", but with dogs haha! It's very rad, however, I will say this... And I'm ok with saying it... Beneful (Purina) stinks! Solely "my personal opinion" of course lol.

At least try this food for your canine companion instead.

;)

Have a wonderful weekend,

-Grant

Jolly Jasper

This morning we met up with Jasper at The Fort for his assessment. He is a two year old, eighty pound, Flat-Coated Retriever. Jasper is very well versed in "Dog Speak". He is also a Dog Daycare Veteran, being a regular at another Tacoma area daycare. All that being said, Jasper made our assessment process simple. He passed with flying colors and had an entertaining stay. Jasper played with just about everyone in the Big Roll, positively outstanding for a first day! In the clips that follow, you can see him hamming it up with Gus, Mollie and Ryker.

Hope your week has started off good,

-Grant

In loving memory of Mazie, Jasper & Dukey

*Edit* Sooo sorry for forgetting to mention Miss Gracie in this post!

Unfortunately I have a bit of sad news to report today.

Good friend of The Fort Mazie recently crossed The Rainbow Bridge. Her and her brother (the late, Jasper) attended Fort Fido regularly until it got to be a bit too much for them. They were both really neat and darn lucky dogs whose last days couldn't have been better!

Their owner is a marvelous gal who continuously rescues large/old dogs that others have discarded or abandoned. She cleans them up, feeds them well, takes them to the vet, takes them to doggy daycare and (most importantly) gives them the love they truly deserve.

Lucky for us, we still see old-timer Luther and the houses latest pooch Payton a few times a week. Luther (who originally started with Dukey, R.I.P.) has been coming for over three years and is going strong. He is a highly intelligent "Alpha Male" mix breed who does wonders for us in the Big Roll. I'm sure Luther is wondering what new pack member he'll inherit next. ;)

Take it easy,
