Shining Ruby

Ruby came in to Fort Fido for her Assessment today. She is a kindly, one year old, sixty pound, Red Heeler and German Shepherd Mix. Ruby was cautious when first entering Fort Fido but after a little sniffing she was ready to enter into the large roll. Once Ruby began to meet and greet the other pups in the large roll, she realized that The Fort is a place to have fun and play while her owners are away. She first played with the energetic Chester (as seen in the video below). After playing with Chester, Ruby began to relax and take it easy, occasionally playing with Chester. We look forward to seeing Ruby return for some more play time.

Stay happy,
- Zach

Ruby Monday!

Howdy! Get to know Ruby, she kindly, seven year old, ninety pound, Golden Retriever. This Dog Daycare regular, strolled into the Fort Fido lobby without a care in the world. We showed her to the Big Roll and she entered it happily, sniffing away. Ruby was eager to meet some other canines... After exploring the play area a bit, we had Ruby meet up with Dempsey and Reilly. She speaks "Dog" quite fluently, since she is such a socializing veteran. As seen below, Ruby got to playing with Cooper.

As the day progressed and the Big Roll's pack grew, Ruby continued to be happy, enjoying the socialization and fun here at The Fort. Ruby did wonderfully and we anticipate her return!

Stay warm and dry in this weather!

A dog named Xu!

Get a load of Xu, pronounced "Sue". She is a energetic, three month old, about 20 pound, copper colored, Golden Retriever. This striking golden gal leaped into the Fort Fido lobby, ready for a morning full of excitement. A young canine, Xu is here to get out some energy and learn how to socialize properly. She is the perfect age to start Dog Daycare! As expected, Xu got to playing and socializing with the Medium Roll Pack, within minutes of her arrival. She enjoyed romping around in the play area with Lucky, Ruby, and several others. Puppies sure do great here at The Fort, and we love having them... They get in early, learn the ropes quickly, and thrive, growing into well-versed adult dogs. Xu, we are looking forward to helping you hone your canine communication skills and watching you grow. We'll see you around soon, welcome!

Here are a few snippets of Xu in action, enjoy.

Take care,

Lucky for us...

It was Lucky's day to have his assessment! He is a very original looking, nine month old, ten pound, Dark Brindle, Terrier Mix. Lucky is the new "little brother" of Fort Fido regular, Ruby. Recently rescued, Lucky, is certainly living up to his name... His new forever-home and family can't be beat! These folks are dog owners that truly know how to do right by a canine. Compliments to them.

This morning, Lucky was a bit hesitant about stepping into The Fort at first. Once he reached the Little Roll upstairs, he calmed a bit, and was interested in his new surroundings. Like his "big sister" Ruby, Lucky is good at speaking "Dog", understanding just how to communicate with new canine acquaintances. As many of you know, dogs communicate in a myriad of ways, some being quite subtle... And just like people, some canines "speak to each other" better than others lol. Lucky went from meeting and greeting the other dogs, to fun-filled play with several of them, within an instant! Twas a sight to see. Given all that, it's easy for us to say "Welcome to the pack Lucky Dude, see ya soon!"

Here is Lucky in video from this morning, playing with Barclay and Miguel.

Take care,

-Grant
P.S. Have a wonderful Memorial Day! Please note, there is still room available for Overnight Boarding this weekend, reserve your spot as soon as you can.

Happy-go-Hailey!

Today we introduced Hailey to Fort Fido's Pack. She is a six month old, black and white colored, twenty-five pound, Portuguese Water Dog. This "presidential pooch" came into The Fort just a wiggling away, and ready for fun! Hailey flew back with us to the Medium Roll, where she began to meet the crew. As the play area filled with other outstanding canines, Hailey, must have thought she had "died and gone to heaven" lol. This playful puppy "got in the game" instantly. She ran about wildly and had a blast with any other canine that was into her play-style. Hailey's your typical happy and excited young dog, that can get a lot out of Dog Daycare. The socialization and high-energy play, will do wonders for her. We'd like to see Hailey around as much as possible. Her owners are doing a fine job taking care of her... If they continue with the strong leadership and consistency, there's no doubt that Hailey will become a first-rate adult dog... Just as good as "first-dog" Bo.

;)

We captured a few nice clips of Hailey doing her thing. She thoroughly enjoyed Ruby, Yuki, Lucky, and Cody, among several others. Hailey was down to play with any dog at any time.

Cheers,

-Grant

"Ruby with the eyes that sparkle"

This morning we had the pleasure of assessing the ever-so-cute Ruby. She is a sweet, four month old, twenty-five pound, Vizsla. We wasted no time introducing Ruby to the Medium Roll. Once there, she got to meet and greet with new fun-loving pups Logan and Oliver... Those two, among others, proved to be an awesome match for Ruby throughout the morning. Ruby is doing a fine job at learning how to speak "Dog" and socialize. She is the perfect age for learning, and she's at the perfect "school" for learning, that being The Fort of course! We believe Ruby is going to grow into a very healthy and well-rounded canine. She is definitely welcome here anytime. Kudos to her owner for doing right by her!

Enjoy these two clips of Ruby jamming in the play area.

Be well,

-Grant
P.S. Also, Ruby just so happens to be the "niece" of Fort Fido regular Louie, cool stuff.

- Righteous Ruby -

Meet Ruby! She is a sweet, eleven year old, about fifty pound, red & white colored Vizsla. Ruby hung out with us this morning in the Big Roll. She basically just meandered about, meeting and greeting with different members of the pack. After a little while, Ruby seemed to settle in and enjoy the experience. We hope to see a bit of play out of this Senior Gal in the future.

These Vizslas are really neat canines, and lucky for us here at The Fort, we have several that attend. Awesome job today Ruby, now rest up, cause we shall see ya again this weekend for some Overnight Boarding.

Take care,

-Grant

A shiny new Penny!

This morning we were delighted to assess new pup Penny. She is a four month old, twenty-five pound, blonde colored, Goldendoodle. Penny's "Dog Aunt", Ruby, has been coming to The Fort for over a year. Penny stayed with us and the pack in our Medium Roll. She was happy, playful, and pleased to meet with the other dogs. A very well rounded young dog, Penny interacted nicely with the group. She greeted and played with many dogs, including Fort Fido regulars, Lucy and Yuki. We are lucky to have a nice new doodle amongst our ranks. First-rate job today Penny, we hope to see you soon!

Here's a little clip of Penny in action:

Be well,

Revered Ruby

Hi there, feast your eyes on Ruby! She is a four month old, thirty pound, Goldendoodle that had her assessment this morning. Ruby is a very sweet dog with quite a ravishing look about her. She is attending Fort Fido for socialization because she tends to be a bit timid around other canines. In our Medium Roll, Ruby did just fine, despite not interacting too much with the other pack members. The good thing is that Ruby did not act fearful or uncomfortable around the other dogs, she just didn't engage them. There is much hope left for her. We believe Ruby may come around to playing with the pups after some daycare-consistency.

Ruby is currently enrolled in, and doing well in, our Basic Obedience and Leadership class. Dog trainer extraordinaire Garrett Stevens, runs the class, it fills up quickly and it's popular!

Swell job today Ruby, we shall see you again soon.

Have a nice weekend, enjoy the weather,

-Grant

A welcome to Ruby & a couple links

The fort had a new recruit today! Early this morning we assessed "Ruby". She is a five month old, 35 pound, lab mix pup. Ruby fit in well with the pack and had a superb first day. She is super cute and looks like she could be a sibling of Ruger & Dakota! Way to go Ruby!

I found this news noteworthy and this article to be first-rate, take a look.

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. I heard through the grapevine that last night's class went well. I hope everyone had a good time, now get to practicing! :)~
