Fonzie and Penny

  Fonzie was one of our assessments this morning. He's a Terrier mix that weighs twenty two pounds and is only seven months old. This little guy mingled with the dogs in our Small Dog Program and had a great time learning the rules of daycare, and how to hang out with the rest of his new friends.

P.S, does his name make you think of someone- particularly someone who used to be pretty famous?

Yes, Fonzie was named after the coolest "bad boy" around, The Fonz!

  Penny was our other adorable assessment. She's an eleven month old, Yorkshire Terrier
that weighs eleven pounds! We noticed right away that this girl is very aware of her surroundings; she doesn't miss much. She's a keen dog that had a fun time doing her thing today, and learning where her place is at, within the pack. She even made a new friend with a Wired Fox Terrier, named Bella Adele.

Have a marvelous evening,

Eva & Maximus

   Eva joined our Small Dog Program yesterday morning with grace and ease. She's a three year old, Maltese/ Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle Mix that weighs ten pounds. When she first entered her new play area, she romped around with the other dogs, scoped out her surroundings, and discovered one of our cool benches where she then jumped onto and hung out; looking all pretty. I think her name definitely suits her. She's just about as graceful as the famous, Ava Gardner herself.

  This morning we welcomed Maximus into The Fort for his assessment. He's a very handsome one in a half year old Boxer that weighs forty five pounds. We noticed right away that this one is a social butterfly. He had a lot of fun meeting and greeting his new dog friends, and played quite a bit. He fit right in with all the other dogs in our Large Dog Program just as if he was the missing puzzle piece.

  Both Eva and Max are more than welcome to come back whenever they please.

Have a wonderful night.

Teddy

Yesterday we has the pleasure of meeting Teddy. This Eddie look-alike is a 5 year-old, 15 lbs., Italian Greyhound / Yorkie Mix. Teddy came in cool and confident, ready to take on whatever this new adventure may bring. He made his way up and into our Small Dog Program and spent his day exploring the play area while meeting other pups.

We look forward to seeing Teddy return for some more fun times soon,
- Zach

A Pack Of Six - Part Two - The Gangs All Here

Yesterday we assessed half of a six-dog "mini-pack", and it went rather smooth. This morning, we were up bright and early to assess the other half. Let me introduce you to them...

Charlie, is a rocking, nine year old, fourteen pound, Chinese Crested Dog. The most "lively" of his pack, Charlie enjoyed being at Fort Fido from the start. He spoke "Dog" well, and got to gallivanting with our Little Roll Pack almost immediately.

Java, is a super-cute, twelve year old, five pound, Yorkshire Terrier. This mature little fellow, is the "grandpappy"  of his pack. He socialized well upstairs with the other small dogs, however, he wasn't too keen on romping around, or being ran-into by the more wile young-whippersnappers. Java handled himself well, but preferred to stay off to the side and relax, as expected.

Last, but it no way least, is Truffle. She is a fun-loving, about eight year old, thirteen pound, Chinese Crested Dog and Mexican Hairless Dog Mix. This awesome mixed-breed dog is also a rescue-dog, just like most of her pack members, cool stuff! Truffle pretty much likes to party lol. As the morning progressed and our Little Dog Pack grew,  Truffle was delighted. It seemed as though, Truffle grew happier, as more and more pack members entered the play area.

We were most pleased with these little dogs today. They adjusted to our joint well, and they're adequately calm and balanced, especially so, given the fact that they've all had such diverse lives. We look forward to their return, and expect them all to benefit from time spent here at The Fort.

Take care,

-Grant

- Majestic Mimi -

Fort Fido was graced with the presence of another wonderful little dog today... Meet Mimi! She is a mature, six year old, seventeen pound, Shih Tzu/Yorkshire Terrier Mix. Mimi ventured upstairs to the Little Roll for her assessment. She was calm, confident, and very well balanced. Although Mimi didn't play a whole heck of a lot, she was very content, constantly wagging her tail and looking pleased. This happy little dog, will be a first-rate addition to the Little Roll's Pack, and, we plan on seeing her again next week. Way to go Mimi, we sure hope you'll bust out some feisty play soon!

:)

Have a great - and hopefully sunny- weekend,

-Grant
P.S. Here's an early Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! I love ya David, and good luck/congrats to our soon-to-be-a-daddy-man, Ryan. Woo hoo!

Terrific Tucker

Meet Tucker, what a stud-muffin lol! He is an eleven month old, sixteen pound, Poodle-Yorkie-Shih Tzu Mix that assessed this morning. Tucker thought he was headed to the gym this morning to see his brother Dwayne, who recently started attending. However, when the car turned into the Fort Fido parking lot, tucker knew something new was up. He ventured into our Little Roll and keenly observed his new surroundings. Tucker was an absolute delight, although not as outgoing with the pack as his brother Dwayne. His owner is hoping to expand his horizons by bringing him to The Fort. We believe that in time, Tucker will begin to bust out and truly benefit from Dog Daycare. It will be awesome when Tucker meets his brother Dwayne upstairs this coming Thursday! That outta definitely get him even more interested in play.

Have a great weekend,

-Grant
P.S. Theses brothers, Tucker & Dwayne... Don't they have a cool look? Akin to Tom Selleck no? Hahaha! Thanks to Dwayne's mom for pointing that out to me.

``` Daring Dwayne ```
Please welcome little Dwayne to The Fort. He is a ten month old, thirteen pound, Miniature Poodle-Shih Tzu-Yorkie Mix that assessed this morning. Dwayne was named after "The Rock" AKA Dwayne Johnson, striking resemblance hehe? I remember watching that Rock fella back in my WWF (now WWE) days as a middle-schooler lol... Fake wrestling, how funny, it's entertaining as a lad. A soap opera for men if you will haha. Anywho, back to our new pal. He did just fantastic upstairs in the Little Roll! Dwayne has the longest eyelashes we have ever seen, he is quite dapper. When the dogs started to pour in, he was quick to greet them with positive energy and exaggerated play-bows. Dwayne spoke awesome "Dog" for a pup and truly seemed to thrive here. We plan on seeing him again. Way to go Dwayne, you are welcome back anytime and ya definitely smell what The Rock is cookin, I couldn't resits posting that, it was The Rock's famous line. ;)
Take a gander at this clip of Dwayne. Unfortunately it doesn't do him justice. He was really going at it with Fendi but every time the camera came out he stopped. That's how it goes a lot of times. :(
Cheers,
-Grant
P.S. Ahhh, also wanted to post this nice clip of Doberman youngin Hank and tall black lab guy Jake.
Meet Merry Mooshu!
Meet Mooshu! He is a four month old, three pound, spunky little Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie). Boy, if he doesn't win you over with his photogenicness (yup, that isn't a word lol) then his sweet personality will get ya for sure. Mooshu did well in our Little Roll upstairs. He speaks decent "dog" for a young lad and even played a bit. He's met Pearl at the dog park before but fell in love with... You guessed it, Ginger (1,2) hahaha! This is the third young pup to fall for her, those darn redheads. We look forward to seeing Mooshu again, he's a nice addition to the Little Pack.
Take it easy,
-Grant
P.S. I couldn't stop thinking about Moo shu pork when I heard this guys name, too funny. Also, Mushoo is a friend of Fort Fido long-time-big-rollers Lucas and Harriet. Their owners run a great business near us, Fircrest Children's Dentistry... Our main man Gary operates their website. What a small world with seemingly endless connections. :)
Pee-Wee !
(No, not this guy, although I admit I did watch his playhouse haha.)
Meet Pee-Wee! He is a rad little six year old, eight pound, Yorkshire Terrier that was assessed this morning. Pee-Wee did very well in our Little Roll upstairs and passed his assessment with flying colors. He enjoyed meeting and greeting the other dogs, played a bit and fell in love with Fort Fido regular Ginger lol, she's a heart-breaker! We hope to see more of Pee-Wee, he is surely welcome anytime.
In the following clip from the Little Roll you can spot Pee-Wee meandering, his tail is wagging and he portrays a relaxed doggy disposition. A wonderful first day!
Take it easy today, our PC problems are finally over, hooray!
-Grant
P.S. A special thank you to Gary for all of his tech help!
Please Welcome Donnie!
And no... He didn't get into any donnybrooks today lol!
Donnie is a one year old, three pound, Yorkshire Terrier that had his assessment this morning. He is a really handsome pup who did quite well upstairs in the Little Roll. Donnie had a good first day and we plan on seeming him again soon.
Cheers,
-Grant
What it is all about!
I'm in a Video Clip posting mood... Besides, I know that's what everyone wants to see anyway, forget my ramblings lol, here it is.
I've said it before but this clip is Daycare in a nutshell, or at least what we love about it, the dogs having a total blast! Gus (a Bichon Frise / Yorkshire Terrier Mix) is engaging in an epic Tug of war with Barkley the chocolate-colored Mini Poodle.
Take it easy,
-Grant
