A & O Dog Training Site Launches and Documentaries

Our in-house dog trainer, Garrett Stevens, of Alpha & Omega Dog Training, has been working with us for a couple of years now. Garrett offers some outstanding dog training classes and seminars here at The Fort. We are excited to announce the launch of Garrett's new website, check it out here. Congratulations Alpha & Omega Dog Training! Another interesting fact is that our main man, Gary, is the Webmaster/Designer of Garrett's new website, too cool, nice job.

I am a big fan of Documentaries and Non-Fiction... I've watched several of the neat films over at snagfilms. There are many wonderful, canine related, documentaries on the site. I thought I would list some of them here for y'all to enjoy. Please note, not all of these are total "feel goods", specifically the top two, but they are all very informative none the less.

Hope your week has started off well!

FOUR CLIPS

Short and sweet, twas a busy day.

Two from the Medium Roll with the ever so rowdy Buddah and Tikvah.

Two clips from the Little Roll, never a dull moment up there. Chloe and Pearl are always getting spunky no matter what day it is.

I should have had Mom (Nancy) film my dad (David) and I fixing the big utility sink downstairs this morning lol. Last night, Gary noticed that it was leaking heavily onto the floor! We had to shut the water off so there wasn't any bathroom/cleaning facilities downstairs for awhile. There was also a lot of mopping to do, doh! It was a bummer but luckily we got a new faucet on the thing and it's dry as a bone now. We actually got it fixed rather quickly without any foul language or bickering hahaha! We also got off cheap this time around. The last Fort Fido plumbing fiasco cost 50 times as much and let's just say we needed professional help.

;)

Cheers,

-Grant

Check out these kicks!

Thanks to Pearl's ma, Phylis, for the pic of these puppies... I think Hope and or Nancy should get a pair hahaha!

Our Dog Trainer, Garrett Stevens, is going to be launching a new website soon... Looks like our man Gary will end up being the webmaster, too cool, way to go!

Garrett has sent me some fantastic photos of him and his boxers, I've updated the Training Page on our site with them. We hope to have some new training class and seminar dates up soon. I'm guessing the dates will be after the holidays.

Take it easy today,

-Grant
P.S. O yeah, we scored a nice clip of the Little Rollers doing there thing today. It was a fun group!

Happy Anniversary...

To us lol! I hope y'all had a nice Labor Day Weekend and took it easy. Sunday the fourth marked Fort Fido's Fifth Anniversary. Wow, five years in the business happened so fast, it has been nothing short of amazing. We look forward to the next five years, we will be doing our very best to continue being the premier Dog Daycare facility of the South Sound. Special thanks to our wonderful customers, there is no way we could have made it this far without you! Over 500 dogs have passed through our doors to date, incredible! Thanks to the many of you that have been with us since the beginning. It has been a treat watching your pups grow into healthy dogs over the years. One more thanks to my business partners and parents (David and Nancy), my, what we have accomplished together, I'm quite proud of you both. Ok I lied, one more thanks... Thank you to the Fort Fido Staff! In particular, Hope, Gary, Austin & Matt. Keep up the good work, you guys rock!

In other Fido news... Basic Obedience and Leadership class with Garrett Stevens starts tonight, we'll see you at 7:15 PM, don't be late ;).

I spent the weekend with The Band playing in the Ellensburg Rodeo Parade as well as the Roslyn Parade. It was a blast, for some reason we are treated like rockstars out there lol... It's standing room only everywhere you turn, especially in the pubs. Here are just two of the 190 photos that were on my camera.

Cheesin w/ new stache styling

This cute pooch's vest said "Adopt me". There were a handful of rescue-dog-organizations involved with the two parades.

For our five year anniversary present, we bought ourselves a Viper... That's a new floor scrubber by the way, not to be confused with the sports car hahaha.

Have a great day, stay cool this week!

Meet Merry Mooshu!

Meet Mooshu! He is a four month old, three pound, spunky little Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie). Boy, if he doesn't win you over with his photogenicness (yup, that isn't a word lol) then his sweet personality will get ya for sure. Mooshu did well in our Little Roll upstairs. He speaks decent "dog" for a young lad and even played a bit. He's met Pearl at the dog park before but fell in love with... You guessed it, Ginger (1,2) hahaha! This is the third young pup to fall for her, those darn redheads. We look forward to seeing Mooshu again, he's a nice addition to the Little Pack.

Take it easy,

-Grant
P.S. I couldn't stop thinking about Moo shu pork when I heard this guys name, too funny. Also, Mushoo is a friend of Fort Fido long-time-big-rollers Lucas and Harriet. Their owners run a great business near us, Fircrest Children's Dentistry... Our main man Gary operates their website. What a small world with seemingly endless connections. :)

Pee-Wee !

(No, not this guy, although I admit I did watch his playhouse haha.)

Meet Pee-Wee! He is a rad little six year old, eight pound, Yorkshire Terrier that was assessed this morning. Pee-Wee did very well in our Little Roll upstairs and passed his assessment with flying colors. He enjoyed meeting and greeting the other dogs, played a bit and fell in love with Fort Fido regular Ginger lol, she's a heart-breaker! We hope to see more of Pee-Wee, he is surely welcome anytime.

In the following clip from the Little Roll you can spot Pee-Wee meandering, his tail is wagging and he portrays a relaxed doggy disposition. A wonderful first day!

Take it easy today, our PC problems are finally over, hooray!

-Grant
P.S. A special thank you to Gary for all of his tech help!

Computer Prodlems, Doh!

We are experiencing some major computer problems... After five years, a solid run, it looks like the old gal "Dell" is giving up. I was lucky enough to get this blog post posted. Fortunately, we have in-house tech guru Gary! He has already ordered us a new PC and it should be here tomorrow afternoon. This old one is going to get wiped clean and moved out to the lobby which will really streamline our payment system. Thanks for bearing with us today. Our normal doggy-blog-like-stuff should be up and running tomorrow.

Take it easy, enjoy that sun while it lasts,

-Grant
P.S. Our last interviews went well, we've pretty much made our picks. Time to see if they'll "work" now hehe. ;)

Behind the Scenes — Meet Gary Kanz Jr.

Gary has been working at Fort Fido for almost two years now and has long since proven himself to be a valuable addition to the Fort. Gary’s quiet confidence has a calming effect on the pack and we sometimes call him “The Dog Whisperer” and love it when he works his magic on an unruly day.

Gary’s other skills have also come in handy for us, namely his skill with computers. His assistance in the office is much appreciated. Gary even has (at 17!) his own web design business on the side. You can check it out at www.garyswebdesign.com.

Before Gary came to work for us, his sister Megan was employed here. When she left to pursue her passion for training horses, she suggested that we hire her younger brother, a then 16-year-old Gary, to replace her. Since then, Gary has been doing a stellar job here. Fortunately, he and Megan have three more younger siblings, so we might have a few more years of Kanz’s up and coming.
