Hurray it's Friday! I was feelin camera happy today so I decided to take a bunch of cute photos of your guys pups. Check 'em out, I hope they put a smile on your face. :)

Baxter also took a great liking to one of our Shetland Sheepdog's, Augie
About a year ago, I was lucky enough to inherit some outstanding vintage family photos from my uncle (David's brother). Upon viewing them, I noticed several photos with dogs in them! Delighted, I thought they would make for a neat blog post. The following pictures are from my Grandmother's and Grandfather's (David's parents) sides of the family. Unfortunately the pics aren't dated, and we don't know a whole lot about them either, however, we believe they are from the late 40's and early 50's. Thanks for having a look, they sure are neat pieces of family history to have.
Whoa! Woke up this morning to the sound of crunchy ice under car tires... I thought to myself, "No way!". But sure enough, it snowed last night lol, just in case you didn't notice. Luckily the light dusting we received didn't put a damper onto any Fort Fido plan, twas smooth sailing today. Very nice!
Pops (David) went on a trip to get some new dogs toys. The majority of our toys come from a "cash and carry" type of place that specializes and only carries pet supplies. Ahhh Toy Day. It's a bit of fun and work rolled into one. You have to budget, pick out what you think will sell, what you think people will like, price each item and then organize the whole lot into our small retail space. It takes a couple of hours and we usually take turns. I'll post up a picture with some of the new merch soon.
In the very near future, we will be carrying an absolutely outstanding line of locally made collars and leads. They are made, by hand, by none other than Jinx's dad, Mike. He specializes in custom work and I assure you, these are the coolest dog leads and collars ever! Not only do they look awesome, they are extremely functional, comfortable and super-heavy-duty yet light. All of us at The Fort are quite excited about getting them in and we think y'all will enjoy them too . Gibson is going to get a custom one made for sure! :)

The Medium Roll was more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
In the Little Roll, Dwayne hooked up with Little Pearl and busted out even more! Every dog upstairs seemed to be having a blast today.
Please welcome Samantha. She is a lovely, one year old, forty-six pound, Black and White, English Springer Spaniel. Samantha joined our Medium Roll and was a bit hesitant at first... Unsurprisingly, she busted out hard after a few hours. Samantha just couldn't resist Grady's Chocolate Lab Charm Haha! Samantha did really well for her first day at The Fort. We look forward to her attending. Thanks to Grady for helping bring Sam out of her shell, way to be bud!

Wigee wagged her way into the fort for her early morning assessment. She is a darling, four year old, 52 pound, English Springer Spaniel. Wigee is a friend of Jinx (a longtime friend of Fort Fido) and she joined him today in the Medium Roll. She did well and spoke good dog. Wigee is welcome back anytime.

Bandit & Shelby experienced their first Fort Fido visit this morning. They are two very striking, black and white, English Springer Spaniel siblings. Bandit is the more outgoing one in the duo, he has a long tail (most Springers have docked tails) and seems very alert, ready for action! Shelby is more low key, she has a very calm/quiet disposition and no tail... But sweet none the less lol.
Unfortunately these two didn't "bust out" this morning, however, we are almost certain that they will. At least certain that Bandit will, he was so close to playing (his owner said, "Once Bandit starts, Shelby will follow."). The first day can be a little awkward for some dogs, "Where am I?", "What is going on here?" haha, I don't blame them. After some time and consistency, most find thier groove, have a blast and don't turn back! All for now, take care,
