Douglas, Miso, and Geddy

Douglas was our dashing assessment that joined our Medium Dog Program yesterday morning. He weighs thirty pounds, is nine months old, and is some type of Australian Shepherd Mix. His day started on a great note because as soon as he arrived for the morning, he saw his friend pulling in right after him! Luna is a Standard Poodle puppy who joined us earlier this month. She's been enjoying her time here, so Douglas wanted to come on by and see what the fun is all about.

Miso and Geddy were our assessments for today. Both of them were very curious and ready to explore as soon as they entered our doors. They showed good dog speak, and Miso even found a few toys that he enjoyed playing with! Miso is seven years old weighs fourteen pounds, and is a Lhasa Apso! Geddy is ten years old, weighs eleven pounds and is a Shih Tzu.

All three dogs are welcome to come back and have more fun here whenever they want.
Take care,

Pasha

Pasha is a one in a half year old Lhasa Apso Mix that weighs twenty one pounds. She came for her assessment this morning, joined our Small Dog Program, met some cool new dogs, and got to burn off some energy! We even caught her on video checking out one of our balls with her new friend, Barkley.

Check her out in the video below...

Pasha is welcome to come back for some more ball time, and playing whenever she pleases.

Have a good night all,
~Shaunte'

Reggie & Bentley in full effect!

Yesterday had the Fort Fido Team meeting up with, Reggie, for his Assessment. He is a super-sweet, one year old, forty pound, German Shepherd and Terrier Mix. Reggie has had a very tough first year, he was found servery abused, more or less "left for dead", on the side of a road in Texas... After that, he was shuffled between many households and rescues. Now, fortunately for Reggie, he has found a loving forever-home with his new owner. Knowing Reggie's background, we proceeded with much caution during his introduction to our Medium Roll. We were astonished with Reggie's care free and happy disposition, as he wagged his whole body in excitement and sniffed about the play area. When it was time to meet some canines, Reggie did so like a social-butterfly-veteran. We had him meet up with the high-energy Roxy first, and the two canines basically fell in love with each other lol. They play bowed and got into chase-me-games right away. As time moved on and the pack grew, Reggie kept his calm around all of the other dogs, making friends out of almost all of them too easily. We were truly taken back by just how amazing Reggie did here, especially given the whirlwind of drama he's gone through. He is a true testament to dogs, the canine brain, and their resiliency... How they can overcome, adapt, and continue to love is unbelievable. We could all learn a lot from Reggie. :)

Checkout Reggie in action with Roxy and Walter:

(Bentley and Emmy Cheesin' it so cutely!)

Today we had an adorable little dog-guy, named Bentley, in for his Assessment. He is a striking, four month old, seven pound, black and white colored, Maltese, Shih Tzu, and Lhasa Apso Mix. Your normal, happy and healthy puppy, Bentley, was super-ready to go this morning. We headed up to the Little Roll with him, teaching him "stairs" along the way lol. Once in the Small Dog Play Area, Bentley was fascinated with his new found place, and he seemed to know that fun was in store for him. As the pack entered, Bentley greeted each member joyously, but not too rowdily, which is good for a young pup. Some pups get too excitable when meeting other dogs, which leads to them having to be "corrected" by the elder canine. Bentley "fell head over heels" for little Shih Tzu puppy, Emmy, when she arrived. The two dogs played wholeheartedly throughout the day, making the perfect pair. Bentley's owner is doing a fine job with him. He should grow up to be a well balanced and quite social adult canine. Swell job!

Take a look at Bentley pallin' around with his new best buddy, Emmy:

We look forward to having both, Reggie and Bentley, into The Fort again real soon.

Happy Friday!

Mabel & Harlowe

Here are two cuties, that we met up with today for their Assessments. Meet Mabel and Harlowe, what great names!

Mabel is a one year old, thirteen pound, Havanese and Shih Tzu Mix, AKA, a Havashu.

Harlowe is a three year old, sixteen pound, Lhasa Apso and Maltese Mix, AKA, a Lhatese.

Mabel is a bit more spunky than her "brother" Harlowe, more social, and much more interested in play. She even started to chase a ball around a bit during Ball Time.

Harlowe on the other hand, is more laid-back and reserved when compared to Mabel. He was fine with the pack, but didn't seem too interested in any rebel-rousing lol.

Both Mabel and Harlowe are great dogs, that are welcome to attend Fort Fido anytime. Given some time and consistency, they should get even more comfortable here. We hope that they can extract much more fun from future Fort visits.

Have a nice weekend, GO HAWKS!

A little Angel

Take a gander at this endearing little canine, Angel. She is a sweet, seven year old, five pound, Lhasa Apso. Angel had her assessment this morning at The Fort. We had her visit the Little Roll, which turned out to be just right for her. A very nice dog, Angel, stayed cool, calm, and collected during her visit. It is clear that she has been socialized well, due to her easy-going attitude. Angel seemed pretty relaxed right from the start, which is always great to see... It's certainly not her "first time at the rodeo" lol. She met with the other canines gently and effortlessly, fitting into the group without a hitch. She didn't get involved in much play, yet she appeared to be having a fine time. We are happy to welcome Angel to our Little Dog Pack. Her well-balanced energy will really be beneficial up there!

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. Ahhh, I almost forgot, one interesting fact about Angel, is that she only has one eye! Unfortunately, I don't have the story on that yet... I'll have to find out soon. That'll be the second Fort Fido Member with only one eye, neat. Like the three-legged canines we've met over the years, these one-eyed dogs, have also adapted magnificently.

A Tip-top Trio

We were certainly "busy beavers" this morning... Fort Fido welcomed three newcomers in for their assessments!

Get to know the mini-pack that is Maye Maye, Milo, and Otis.

Maye Maye is a six year old, twenty pound, beige and white colored, Lhasa Apso/Cocker Spaniel Mix. She did well upstairs, in the Little Roll, and seemed to dig the experience. Maye Maye's a smart canine that reminds us a bit of Fort regular, Mimi.

Milo is a five year old, twenty-five pound, brindle marked, Dachshund Mix. He's a sharp looking dog that also did a good job here today, with his "sister" Maye Maye, in the Little Roll. Milo was very watchful over his "mini-pack" members. He too, enjoyed his stay.

Last but certainly not least, was Otis. He is a five year old, thirty-two pound, beige colored, Pomeranian Mix. Now Otis seemed to have the most "big brother" energy, out of the trio. He watched over his "siblings", as a big brother traditionally would. He socialized well, and was quite eager to meet with incoming pack members. Although none of the three dogs played too much, as it can be a lot to take in on a first day... Otis, was definitely the most active. He frolicked and meandered about the Little Roll play area in high spirits.

Maye Maye, Milo, and Otis are welcome to come back to Fort Fido anytime. We plan on meeting with them again soon.

This isn't too "action packed", but in the following clip, you can spot each member of the "trio".

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. Milo, his name is pronounced M-Y-L-O-W, not to be confused with M-E-E-L-O-W lol! Just like the "Milo" from one of my favorite pet-movies.

- Ebullient Edison -

(A striking resemblance to this man? LOL!)

Get a load of new Fort Fido pack member Edison! He is a six month old, fourteen pound, Lhasa Apso Mix. Now, Mr. Edison, did absolutely wonderful upstairs in our Little Roll. He got along, and played, very well with the other dogs. Edison has a great temperament, he will grow into quite a well-mannered, happy, and social Adult Canine. We are pleased to have such a great little new dog amongst our ranks. Way to go "Eddie"! We'll see ya soon...

Here is a nice shot of Edison having a blast with The Fort Friend, Rusty.

Take care,

-Grant

Zach and Zoey ! !

Zachary and Zoey are best buddies! They are even good friends with Fort Fido's friend Gracie. Zachary is a five year old, 24 pound, Blonde, Lhasa Apso. Zoey is a six year old, 24 pound, Reddish Blonde, Lhasa Apso / Bichon Frise Mix. Zachary ventured out and greeted the pack well. Zoey took her time but did socialize a bit with Zachary in the lead. These pups did just fine in the Little Roll and we hope to see them again soon.

Have a nice sunny Monday! ;)

Hello Joe!

Joey came to the fort bright and early this morning for his assessment. He is a handsome, five year old, 20 pound, Lhasa Apso. We are not exactly sure how Joey felt about the Little Roll upstairs and all it's little rascals. In time we believe he will enjoy himself more, first days can be jittery. I know they were for me when the first day of school would roll around lol!

Take care,

-Grant
