Douglas, Miso, and Geddy

Douglas was our dashing assessment that joined our Medium Dog Program yesterday morning. He weighs thirty pounds, is nine months old, and is some type of Australian Shepherd Mix. His day started on a great note because as soon as he arrived for the morning, he saw his friend pulling in right after him! Luna is a Standard Poodle puppy who joined us earlier this month. She's been enjoying her time here, so Douglas wanted to come on by and see what the fun is all about.

 















Miso and Geddy were our assessments for today. Both of them were very curious and ready to explore as soon as they entered our doors. They showed good dog speak, and Miso even found a few toys that he enjoyed playing with! Miso is seven years old weighs fourteen pounds, and is a Lhasa Apso! Geddy is ten years old, weighs eleven pounds and is a Shih Tzu.

All three dogs are welcome to come back and have more fun here whenever they want.

Beau

Today we met Beau. Beau is a 3 year-old, 54 lbs., Standard Poodle. He came through our front door and into The Fort with his sniffer working overtime. Beau then made his way into our Large Dog Program. Beau spent most of the day sniffing, mingling, & meeting the others during his time with us. 

We are looking forward to seeing Beau soon,

Mabel, Charlie, & Millie

Today we welcomed Mabel, she is a 4 month-old Standard Poodle mix. Mabel looked like she was excited to be learning about the Fort as she spent her time here. Mabel rocked out her day in the medium roll and we caught a video of Mabel and Georgie playing together, check it out below!

Charlie joined us last week. He is a 1 1/2 year-old, 15 lbs., mini Schnauzer. Don't let his looks tease you, he will grow into an even more handsome dog. Carlie presented himself well with the small roll pups. He entered with confidence while enjoying his time mingling and socializing with the others.

Like Charlie, Millie also joined us last week. Millie is a 2 year-old, 17 lbs., Scnoodle. Millie strolled right into Fort Fido and worked her way into the small roll. Millie relished in the time that she spent here and made lots of friends. With the others, she sat on a new bench installed just for the small pups. We are looking forward to seeing Mabel, Charlie, and Millie all return for a lot more fun.

Wilson

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of meeting Wilson. He is a 3 month old, 16 pound, white, Standard Poodle. Wilson spoke great dog, and enjoyed playing with the other members of the medium pack. We look forward to seeing him again soon. Below is a clip of Wilson playing with Benji.

Pippa & Paddington

Yesterday morn The Fort's crew met up with Pippa for her Assessment. She is a very sweet, one year old, sixty pound, Golden Retriever. Pippa wasn't sure what to make of the Big Roll at first... However, after some time passed, she settled right in with the pack. Pippa communicates with other canines well, and although she didn't play on her "first day", you can tell that she wanted to. Given some time and consistency, we believe that Pippa can relax more, and have an even better time here at Fort Fido.

Today we Assessed the springy-pup Paddington. She is a seven month old, 51 pound, Bernese Mountain Dog and Standard Poodle Mix. Happy and full of energy, Paddington bounded into the lobby and then into our Big Roll Play Area. There, she sniffed and jaunted about, exploring the place curiously. After a little while, it was time to begin to meet the pack. For a young canine, Paddington, did a pretty darn good job of "meeting and greeting" with the other dogs. She would get excited as each Fort Fido Member arrived, wagging her tail in delight. Paddington is here to continue learning how to play, and hone her canine communication skills. We know that she can get a lot out of Dog Daycare at The Fort. Rest up Paddington, we'll see ya again soon.

Happy St. Patrick's Day (Bella and Jolie)

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all!


This last Saturday Fort Fido had two new canines in for their assessments...

Bella is a kindhearted, six year old, fifty pound, brown and white colored, Basset Hound. Once introduced, she responded well to the other dogs. She didn't do a whole lot of play, but she did socialize and wag her tail a lot. Bella has a very sweet disposition and is perfect for the Medium Roll

Jolie is a striking, six year old, fifty pound, black colored, Standard Poodle. Now Jolie was a bit shy at first, yet she warmed up after a bit of time. She didn't interact as much as Bella, however she did meet and greet with several different dogs in the Medium Roll. We hope to see Jolie branch out some more in future visits. She is a very good looking dog that'll be great to have around.

We are happy to have both Bell and Jolie joining our pack at The Fort, nice job gals!

A soggy summer day...

Meet Boover!

= Boover, what a name!

Boover was in for his assessment today. He is a sharp looking, nine month old, thirty-five pound, chocolate colored, Standard Poodle. Boover's owner said his name came from the combination of Hoover (The Vacuum) and Boozer hahaha.

We tried Boover in the Medium Roll (he could probably handle the Big Roll as well) and he really excelled, especially since he has been to doggie daycare in the past. Boover socialized with a handful of different dogs, he really enjoyed running around with the pack. He is welcome at The Fort anytime. Wonderful job this morning Boover!

Happy Valentines day, good news and bad news...

First off, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day. I hope you all have a nice one!

I'll start off with my good news... This morning we assessed Bella. She is a one year old, thirty-nine pound, Chocolate Brown, Standard Poodle. Bella did outstanding today, she spoke great "Dog" and even played with a few different pooches in the Medium Roll. She will be a fine addition to our Medium Pack and sure compliments Jaz and Peaches well. We have had a super track record here (or have gotten lucky) with female Standard Poodles, they've been excellent pack members so far.





Now for some very upsetting news, my apologizes... Fort Fido regular (he came almost every day) Hunter was killed by a Pit Bull on Saturday afternoon (2/12/11). It happened in his neighborhood, two Pit Bulls were roaming off leash. One of the dogs attacked Hunter viscouly and then ran off. The authorities were able to capture the other dog but haven't found the culprit.

Hunter put up a good fight to live at the emergency vet, he hung in there for eleven hours before finally crossing over the Rainbow Bridge. The saddest part for us is that he played here on Saturday morning, we just spent time with him! So, it is a little gloomy around here, very surreal and frustrating for all involved. Fort Fido has never experienced a loss quite like this. Our hearts go out to Hunter's owners Bonnie and Bob, we are so very sorry for your loss. Please take it easy!

With that said, again, have a nice Valentine's Day.

Double Trouble!

Well, actually not at all, just two great assessments, two nice dogs!

First up was Locoe. He is a seven month old, fourteen pound, Shih Tzu. Locoe journeyed upstairs to the little roll and explored a bit. He teamed up some with Hunter, following him around and greeting the pack. We here at The Fort think Locoe will begin to play more in time, he should really benefit from doggie daycare because he is young enough.

Our second assessment this morning was Peaches. Peaches is a two year old, forty-six pound, apricot colored, Standard Poodle. She is a rescue dog that has a great new family... Her new sister is Jaz, a Fort Fido regular that does wonderful here. Peaches entered the Medium Roll with new sis Jaz and flourished! She is a real go getter that met the pack and fell in love, playing a lot, especially for a first day. When I put my pooch Gibson in, he and Peaches hit it off right away.

Way to go Locoe and Peaches, awesome job today!

A welcome to Rufus!

Rufus came in for his assessment this morning. He is a one year old, sixty-six pound, red, Standard Poodle. Rufus is a long legged fellow, one of his nick names happens to be legs! He is a very handsome dog that went right to the Big Roll. Rufus greeted the pack and for his first day he didn't do half bad. Once he gets to know everybody, we think he will be interacting more. Good job Rufus!

Bouncing Bazi !

Please welcome Bazi! He is a two year old, fifty-five pound, black, Standard Poodle that had his assessment this morning. Bazi went right into the Big Roll (most of our male Standard Poodles start there, they are not a dainty breed lol) but wasn't sure what to make of it at first... Then, one of his good buddies, and a Fort Fido regular, named Raleigh showed up. From that point it was game on for Bazi! He played nicely, had a great time and all in all had a superb first day (we even got a clip of him). Way to go! We hope to see Bazi again soon.
