After duty, dogs suffer like soldiers (Very sad, I most definitely believe it.)

Pooch has ruff time delivering 15 puppies (Whoa! Good thing you didn't have to do that Miura lol. Hard to believe it isn't even close to the record of 24, held by a Neapolitan Mastiff. We had one of those here at The Fort for awhile. She was a sweet yet tricky to handle gal named Olivia. Let's just say, she knocked one of us over once real good hahaha.)

A couple long clips!

I caught some longer clips today to share with all you guys today. First up is a clip of Gordon and his buddies Emily and Tikvah. It's pretty funny how even dogs have their "friends" whom they prefer to play with.


This next clip has almost everyone in it! Sam, Lukas, Emily, Tikvah, and Gordon are all tearing it up in this minute-long peek at Fort Fido.



In the news, I found this article about a long-lost dog has been found, and a trip home is being arranged. That pup made it all the way from the East coast to the West, what a journey it must have been.

Another pet has been returned home, after a woman took matters into her own hands to draw attention to her "missing dog" signs.

One more reunion story. It's good to see so many happy endings for people who have lost their pets.

This is interesting as well--military dogs can suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, just like their two-legged companions.

This is kind of funny--but certainly not for the hunter in question! A bird dog was with his owner on a hunting trip, when the pup got excited and jumped on a shotgun, causing it to go off and shoot the hunter in the buttocks. Ouch! Luckily, the man was several feet away, and the firearm was loaded with light birdshot. He's going to be fine, though sitting will probably be awkward and uncomfortable for a while!

Early this morning I found this link from MSN. It talks a bit about Hybrid Dog Breeds and their current popularity. I would certainly agree, the majority of Fort Fido dogs are mixed, "Designer Breeds", as we like to call them. They can be super-dogs for a variety of reasons. Some are even hypoallergenic! The Designer Breeds all seem to have Hybrid Vigor that combats the fussy physical problems many purebred breeds experience. Not all folks agree with that theory but this guy does. ;)

Up first, Maximus and Fort long-timer Murphy had a blast together today in the Big Roll.



New pup Kona has been loving it in the Medium Roll, there is ALWAYS someone to play with in that group!



From the Little Roll we have a strong trio battling it out, Chloe, Koji and Pearl. Not surprised by that one lol.

Wild Chinese Pet Trends

This is definitely not for everyone... I'm neutral on the idea of it all (feel free to ask me in person why lol). It does give me a chuckle though! However, I will not be turning Gibby into an Armadillo anytime soon, hahaha!

This is Crazy! So a new trend has EXPLODED in China’s upper class where people are transforming their pets into miniature version of animals, fairies or dying them crazy colors. Pandas seem to be a big hit and obviously their favorite. It’s become a huge industry and people are spending THOUSANDS of dollars in professional hair dye,

All I can say is O M G…. Poor dogs…

Peppy Pupcake

Meet Pupcake, what an awesome name!

She is a nine month old, about thirty pound, Tri-Color, Australian Shepherd. Pupcake came into Fort Fido full of high-energy, ready to get to it. We started her in the Medium Roll where she stayed and prospered. Pupcake got along well with the other pack members, she played quite a bit and seemingly enjoyed her stay. Welcome Pupcakes ;), you can comeback anytime and we hope you will.
