This morning we had the pleasure of meeting this 8 month old, 6lb, Morkie (Maltese/Yorkshire) named Duffy. He is a great little guy and was immediately introduced to the little roll. Duffy was a bit shy at first but with a little help from Rusty and the rest of the pack upstairs he quickly started to have fun. Duffy especially enjoyed playing Fetch during ball time.
Duffy effortlessly passed his assessment today and we look forward to seeing him again soon.
If you are having trouble deciding what to name a new addition to the family, here's a list to help you pick from either the most popular, the least popular or somewhere in between! :)
Ever seen monkeys riding dogs, while chasing sheep around an NFL stadium? Not many of us can say yes to that question, but never fear loyal Fido followers! feast your eyes on the splendor of this .Gif!
thanks for tuning in, hope everyone had a great Christmas full of everything you wanted.
We had a chance to put one of our herding balls into action today and just like always Zeus was the first one to have a go at it and show the rest of the pack how its done. Odin eventually joined in on the fun along with Samwise and Maggie.
Here is one of the assessments we had this weekend.
Emma came in on Saturday for her assessment and did great. She is a 1 1/2 year old, 55 lb, Lab/Blue Heeler. Emma was very sweet and communicated great with the whole pack. Although Emma did not seem very interested in playing this time, I'm sure after she gets a little more accustomed to daycare she will be much more playful.
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Pepper, a 13 week old collie/lab mix! Coming into the medium roll, Pepper was a little shy at first, but soon broke out of her shell, and played hard with Niko, as you can watch in the clip below.
What a cute pair! Pepper is going to fit in great, and I am excited to see how she grows into an adult pup. See you soon Pepper!
Meet Namoo! He is a nine month old, about fifteen pound, Shih Tzu/Miniature Schnauzer Mix. Now Namoo had his assessment this morning, in the Little Roll. He is a happy-go-lucky type of dog, that is all about playing and having a good time, and, that is exactly what he did here today. He integrated into the Small Pack seamlessly, and acquired quite a fondness for Cortez and Rusty, among others. Namoo had a "whale of a time" at The Fort and we hope to see him again soon. Well done buddy!
Here, Namoo is having a blast with good-old-Rusty:
It was a really good mix upstairs in the Little Roll. Gherie was quite the baller, and he played hard, as he usually does. The rest of the Little Pack had fun as well.
In the Medium Roll, Barkley and Gracie, shared in some "doodle love" lol.
Also in the Medium Roll, Georgie and Molly, chased each other around for a good portion of the day. They're like "two peas in a pod".
The Fort's old pal, Diego, sent us some recent and wonderful pics of him and his new baby brother... All the way from Germany! Looking good you guys! As always, thank you for the awesome photos.
Be well,
-Grant
P.S. Please, if you have any holiday photos of your pets, email them to us. We love receiving them and getting them up here on our blog.
We have two new dogs we'd like to welcome to Fort Fido today.
This is Daisy. She is a 1 year old Visla/Lab that assessed with us this weekend. Daisy is a very playful dog and communicated very well with the rest of the pack. She had a great time here today and especially enjoyed plying with Zipper and Diego. Daisy had a lot of energy to burn off and was a perfect playmate for the other dogs in the big roll.
Next up is this 3 year old, 25lb Husky/Dachshund mix named Shirley. She had her assessment this morning and although she was shy when she first arrived she still enjoyed interacting with the pack. After she settled in she seemed to loosen up a bit and started trotting around the medium area and watching the other dogs play.
Take a look at these awesomely cute pics of "Christmas Corty" lol! Doesn't he look dashing in that wee scarf? Funny, this little guy is gathering quite the collection of outfits and accessories. I swear though, we usually aren't "clothing on dogs folk", but it's hard not to dress up Cortez! Besides, he gets cold easily hahaha... We'll take any excuse! ;)
This morning we scored a few great shots. Two are from the Big Roll, and mostly feature Buddy, Red, and Theodore ripping it up. After that, the last clip, is from our Medium Roll. It definitely captures the excitement in which that play area offers.
Hey everybody, please welcome Emma to Fort Fido! She is a one year old, fifty-five pound, black and white colored, Labrador Retriever/Blue Heeler Mix. Emma had her assessment this morning in the Medium Roll. Fitting in well, she took to her new scene with ease. A "social butterfly", Emma, had fun and played hard with the other pack members. She was particularly fond of Walter, among others. We look forward to having Emma in again, and we plan on seeing her soon for some overnight fun. Marvelous job today Emma!
Here's a little clip of Emma and Walter in action.
Hey everyone!! Cortez here, just wanted to spread the word that Reindeer horns are in!! Santa sent a special shipment of carefully hand-selected, naturally shed antlers from the finest of flying fauna! These natural, long lasting dog chews are a fantastic way to entertain your pup, and a healthy and cost efficient alternative to rawhide and other animal products.
So be sure that on your next visit to The Fort you get them while they are Cold! Take a gander and get the best one!
We don't know about you, but Marco Polo and I have our eyes on a few prime pieces our selves.
Thanks for reading and be sure to tune in later this week to keep up on news here at the fort
As part of a fundraiser for The University Place SUNdogs group, Dave, the owner of Soggy doggy (a self service dog washing facility) graciously donated 100% of the proceeds from the night directly to SUNdogs, in order to help fund the new U.P. off-leash Dog Park. Five of the Fort Fido employees also went to Soggy Doggy, and donated time by helping families wash their pets and had a blast!
Here are the pics, and big thanks to all who showed up! Your support is soo appreciated. :)
Thanks again to all of you who came out, it was awesome to help such a good cause. See you at the Fort!
Meet Miss Violet! She is a nine month old, sixty-four pound, Golden Retriever. This adventurous gal had her assessment this morning. A dog park veteran, Violet is already fluent in "dog speak", and loves to socialize. Violet is also a non-stop player, she really enjoyed our Big Roll, where she romped with Beau and Gage, among others. We were lucky enough to score a nice clip of her and Gage in action, take a look...
Violet is one fun canine that is welcome back to The Fort anytime. We look forward to her next visit. Excellent job today girl!
