A look at all sides, and a few tidbits from the news

Here's a peek at each area!

Small...
Medium...
and Large!

From the news around the Web...

If you needed another reason to adopt a pup, here's a great one: those lovely "AKC registered" pups have a distinction that means less than you think. A great portion of the income for the American Kennel Club comes from puppy registration at "high-volume breeders," a.k.a.-- puppy mills.

Pooch Guardian is expected to recover after having been shot three times during a home invasion. Apparently he was given the perfect name, because Guardian chased the robbers from the home, protecting his owner, his owner's girlfriend, and her baby.

Another pup defended his house from would-be burglars, even though they tried to break down a door to get inside. Apparently the angry pooch was deterrent enough, as the robbers gave up before gaining entry to the home.

Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank is using her fame to promote animal rescue across the world, most recently in Bucharest, Romania.

Uggie, the canine co-star of the film "The Artist," got to put his hand...er, paw... prints on the Hollywood walk of fame-- becoming the first pooch to do so.

Your dog's hair is a great indicator of overall health--the condition of their fur gives great insight into their nutrition, and can give you clues to larger health problems.

This article about luxury dog houses is pretty cool (though I'm not sure I could ever be coaxed into spending over four-thousand dollars on a dog house!). You can check out a slideshow of cool doghouses (and a couple pig-houses!) here.

Have a great evening guys! We'll see you back bright and early tomorrow,

-Hope

  1. Hi there, David, Grant & all at Ft. Fido,

This is Buddy's mom, Kay, writing at a ridiculous hour of the morning from beautiful Calgary, Alberta (getting ready for a two-hour family caravan to Ft. MacLeod tomorrow), and unable to sleep. I was thinking about Buddy, & how he might be doing, so logged on to your blogsite (great job, Grant!).

It's so good to know he's with you guys, at a place he knows & loves. He was really excited on the drive over, so I'm thinking we gotta get him into daycare again.

Don't tell Buddy I was checking up--I'm sure he's doing just fine ;)
I'll keep looking to see if he's captured in any of your videos.

    Best,
    Kay & Brian

  2. Doh!

Won't let me use HTML there. You'll have to copy and paste http://fortfido.com/buddy.htm into your browser.

P.S. Kay & Brian, thank you for the kind words. It is much appreciated. Buddy, is a great dog, he definitely has fun here. :) Those feet always crack me up. I like them, reminds me of these guys http://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/Brahma-B16.aspx LOL!

  3. Aww, thanks! I'd say you caught him looking pretty happy (not that he ever looks much else...)
