I have heard a lot about "Bedbugs" in the news recently. It Seems to be more of a Midwest thing but I guess they can infest almost anywhere. I found this article today about the new weapon developed to fight against these nasty little buggers. Very cool, our canine companions help us out in so many ways.
Sort of, more of an old-timer that's definietly met a dog or two in her day. Meet Payton! She is a six year old, 75 pound, fawn colored, Mastiff / Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) mix. Payton is a rescue dog that is doing well with her new owner and siblings, Fort Fido friends, Luther and Mazie. Her first day in the Big Roll is going well. She speaks good dog and seems to be enjoying her stay with the pack. We will be seeing Payton once a week and we look forward to it, What a looker! :)
And no... He didn't get into any donnybrooks today lol!
Donnie is a one year old, three pound, Yorkshire Terrier that had his assessment this morning. He is a really handsome pup who did quite well upstairs in the Little Roll. Donnie had a good first day and we plan on seeming him again soon.
It's been quite busy around The Fort these past 24 hours. Last night parts of the building were pressure washed. This afternoon the building is getting painted (just getting our bright green touched up). We are happy about having a fresh coat of paint but unfortunately some of our dogs aren't thrilled. The loud noises of pressure washers and paint sprayers (well, mainly the guy on the ladder bumping around) have made some of the pups a bit jumpy. The guys should be done this evening and everything should be back to normal tomorrow, thank goodness... Because our Fort Fido dogs don't miss a beat!
Here's a quick clip of Bella, Mimi, and Kodiak ripping around the big area. These girls tore it up all day long, making the most of their Saturday at the Fort.
PS--Here's a link to an article about new Guinness World Record holding animals. It includes pictures to go with some of the links Grant posted yesterday.
Finn's mom Cheryl sent me these wonderful photos of her and Finny Paddleboarding! Apparently Finny just loves it... They like to cruise around their place on Harstine Island. I just recently saw this sport for the first time and was intrigued, it looks like something fun that almost anyone could do with a little practice (I could be wrong lol). Enjoy the photos, cheers,
Well, my boy Gibson seems to be getting along just fine in the Medium Roll. This is his third week of fun at The Fort. I wanted to start him in the Medium because that is where he was going to end up anyway, wouldn't want him to become a bully upstairs or anything lol. Sometimes it's best to start a smaller guy upstairs with the wee ones but not in my case. Gibson is not timid (as you can see in today's clip)!
The Medium Roll is great, it is quite an asset to our doggie daycare facility. It gives us the ability to mix younger dogs with older or larger dogs that are either good teachers, very tolerant or love puppies. It also acts as a nice transitional area for large breed pups that aren't quite ready for the big leagues.
New pup Frizzy is sure bursting out of her shell. She is having so much fun upstairs in the Little Roll. Here she is in action, starting to fetch the ball and everything, go Frizzy!
Have a nice day,
-Grant P.S. This is one of the neatest things I have ever seen, checkout The Park Spark Project! Makes perfect sense while being totally cool, here is an article about it.
I spotted Daphne playing for a bit, and made sure to catch some on film! She just couldn't resist chasing Koji, the Jack Russel, with her brother Trevor (Bull Terrier-Sheltie mix) and friend Mimi (Chocolate lab). I'm glad that Daphne's starting to get the hang of things!
We had two more assessments this morning, Frizzy and Otto, both dogs did excellent. Frizzy is a nine week old, black Labradoodle that ventured upstairs to the Little Roll. Otto is a one year old, Rhodesian Ridgeback that did well in the Big Roll. Looks like we will be seeing Frizzy quite a bit and I'm sure Otto will pop in again soon. Good times!
Wow! Summer is definitely over because everyone is coming back. Fall is a busy season for the Fort Fido crew, many dog watchers are back in school.
Welcome Denali, she actually had her assessment yesterday but I wanted to wait until I had her picture to tell you about her. She is a one year old, 80 pound, Mastiff / Labrador Mix. Denali is doing quite well in the Big Roll. She speaks great dog and has played a whole heck of a lot! She is even here today. Super job Denali, you are welcome anytime (assuming we have the room) :).
Chance had his assessment this morning. He is a five month old (almost), 16 pound, apricot-colored Labradoodle. Chance had a fun time, he was introduced to the Medium Roll and romped around pretty hard. Chance is really getting some nice socialization. He will be a wonderful addition to The Fort and we plan on seeing him often.
Miller's mom reminded me of this awesome event that is coming up soon! It is the Pooch Pool Party, check it out!
We also have a few clips today... Gracie, Lucy, Barkley and others are found rolling around in the Medium Roll. Upstairs it's ball time as usual. I hope your Labor Day Weekend was grand.
Trevor was all over the place, playing with anybody who would sit still long enough! I caught him on camera with Chloe and Maggie, and after that he played with Willy- an eight year old lab. Don't let the age gap fool you, those two were tearing it up!
Stella and Otto are seen here tinkering with the Tyke Toy. It's amazing how much the Little Roll pups like that thing lol.
In other news... Keep in mind, Fort Fido's new Saturday Hours are 9 AM - 6 PM. We will be closed this Monday September Sixth for Labor Day. Also, tomorrow, September Fourth 2010, marks our four year Anniversary! :) My, how the time has flown! Thank you all for being such wonderful customers and supporting us.
-Grant P.S. Starting today, Fort Fido's Rates have increased by two dollars across the board. Thank you to all of our great customers for supporting us!
