Bright Benji

This morning the Fort Fido crew met up with the loveable Benji. He is a one year old, seventeen pound, black and white colored, Miniature Australian Shepherd and Maltese Mix. Benji followed us up to the Small Dog Play Area. Once therein, he explored the area rather quickly, then moved on to wondering what was next. Rusty arrived minutes later, and that was Benji's first chance to meet one of The Fort's key pack members... The two hit it off beautifully! Benji exhibits pretty good canine communication skills for a young buck, and it's obvious that he only wants to get along and have a good time. As the pack grew, Benji continued to fit in with the others and have fun. He really liked Ball Time and all of the toys we have to offer. We look forward to meeting up with Benji again in the near future.

Here's a little clip of Benji having a blast during Ball Time.

Take care,

-Grant

Copper The Mini Aussie

Today we assessed the high spirited and very intelligent Copper. She is a two year old, nineteen pound, Miniature Australian Shepherd. Copper did quite well in our Little Roll where she was introduced to the pack. She exchanged "sniffs" with the other members and was generally curious about the whole situation. Further into her assessment, Copper, struck up play with Little Roll Rough-Rider, Pearl. The two really hit it off. It was great to see Copper get comfortable enough at The Fort, to have some fun on her first day. We look forward to visiting with Copper again and she is more than welcome to come to Fort Fido anytime. Nicely done Copper!

Cheers,

-Grant
P.S. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a clip of Copper and Pearl in action, it was a busy morning! We did however, get this darling pic of Copper for her badge. Doesn't she look like she's puckering up for Prince Charming lol!? Or maybe David? Hahaha! Copper's other photos were cute but a tad too blurry. :(

Every rose has its THORN...

Sorry, I couldn't resist, so many "thorny things" popped into my head, hahaha! What an outstanding name for a dog! Original and with the right amount of syllables lol, seriously.

Meet Thorn, he is a super-striking, four month old, sixteen pound, Miniature Australian Shepherd. Now, Thorn may have gotten off to a rough start in life (Puppy-Mill Rescue), but his new owners are doing their very best to help move him forward. Thorn was not properly socialized with humans. Everyone involved with him, including, awesome Dog Trainer Garrett Stevens, is trying to help him gain more confidence. Especially confidence in us humans. So, with that said, he is not sure what to make of most strangers. David worked with him some this morning, encouraging him to relax and enjoy some "comfort touch" before the other dogs arrived at The Fort.

With canines, Thorn is much different. He seemed to be at home in the Medium Roll and interacted with a few other canines occasionally. We believe, with time and proper consistency, Dog Daycare will help Thorn transition his socialization skills towards improvement.

Take care,

-Grant
