Ay, chihuahua!

We had three really neat assessments today! All of them came from the same family. Here they are, oldest to youngest, the three amigos!

Ha! OK, not quite like those guys, but close!

Ruby is a twelve year old, eighteen pound, fawn & white colored, Chihuahua Mix.

Paco is a six year old, fifteen pound, white colored, Chihuahua Mix.

Last but certainly not least... Opie, is a three year old, fifteen pound, brown colored Chihuahua Mix.

Now these three dogs were a playful pack of their own. Each Chi Mix did awesome in the Little Roll. They got along with the other pack members very well and were even superb with people. This terrific trio was a pleasure to have at Fort Fido today. Ruby, Paco and Opie are most definitely welcome here anytime.

Happy Labor Day!

Another pair of new pooches!

This morning we met two new pups. First up was six-month old Bolt the Chihuahua.  Bolt is just adorable, with great white and tan markings and super soft ears. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the daycare, and watched other pups play curiously. I'm confident that with more exposure to other dogs and daycare that Bolt will start coming out of his shell a little more, and will be more confident to take the leap to playing hard

Next we had Lucy, a sweet one-year-old Labrador/Border Collie mix. Lucy had a great time, and knew exactly what she was at daycare to do--tear it up with other pups! She romped hard for most of the time that she was with us today, and we caught her on camera playing with Cayenne, the Viszla puppy. Also in the clip are Kona and Tikvah, having a nice romp.

Also in the clips from today, Morgan busted out in a big way this morning--having a romp with Cayenne--and Phoebe played with little Cayenne as well! She sure was a busy girl with all these buddies today.

Enjoy your holiday weekend everyone!

Meet Manly Max!

You've probably already met this "Max," lol
This morning we met little macho man Max, an 8-month-old miniature long haired dachshund. Mister Max missed no moment before making the rounds and meeting many new pups, and chasing both the ball and the pups that were after it. He did well for his first day and had a good time. The more he gets out and meets new pups, the more fun he's going to have.
This clip features Miles and a bunch of his buddies from the little roll today. These little dudes sure do love their toys! We definitely look forward to seeing Max again soon.

Merry Miss Morgan

Miss Morgan is a mixed-breed (Lab/Pointer/Australian Shepherd) pup who came to visit the Fort this morning. This gal was sweet as can be, and did just fine with the other pups in the medium side. At nine years old, this definitely wasn't her first time at the rodeo, and we can tell that she knows her way around dogs. While she wasn't whipping around with the puppies, she enjoyed herself.

We'll be having her stay with us this weekend, and we'll see if we can't bring out the puppy in this pooch! The Labor Day crowd is set to be a really fun one, for pups and people alike.

See you all (and Morgan) again in the morning!

P.S.-- I'll leave you with another good one from Textfromdog:
Haha! Those things get me every time.

- A Fort Night -

Twas another successful night, with good-dog company, at Fort Fido. Some of our guests slept, while others played. They all got some shuteye, eventually lol.

Buster and Samson were best friends of the Twilight Medium Roll. They played very hard, yet fair, together. Their play continued off and on throughout the wee hours. Most young dogs are up for rebel-rousing in the moonlight. Buster and Samson were no exception, especially since it was their first night together.

Sweet little Tikvah was sleepy. She seemed to wonder why the boys were being so rowdy.

Excuse the vacuum I left blaring and camera flip on this clip lol...

More play from the wild boys.

On the Big Roll side, Puppy Cayenne and Pa Ryker played Master and Apprentice throughout the evening. My man Rudy was tired, he wasn't sure what all the fuss was about

I am lucky, the dogs have been behaving so well on these night-shifts. Everyone is as happy as a clam.

Good times!

Be well,

-Grant
P.S. Please do enjoy your Labor Day weekend. Also, there is still room to board your dog overnight with us this weekend. Call (253-460-0299) to make your reservations ASAP!

A quick note and news

Just a quick note. Our Overnight Boarding Intake Form is now available for download here (On The Fort's Boarding & Join Us webpages). Print yourself out a copy, have it ready for when you need it. Having this intake form filled out before you drop of your pooch saves you time. It makes for a smooth and quick getaway as well lol. Besides, nobody likes long goodbyes... Especially long doggy-goodbyes. We all know what those have the potential of creating. Do what I do, spin on your heels and leave your pup, acting as if it doesn't phase you and that you won't miss him/her... Then, sob in private as you drive away hahaha! Take a deep breath, feel a sense of relief knowing your canine is having fun with their buddies at Fort Fido. Besides, it sure beats a boring, dog-less weekend for them, staying with Great Aunt Myrtle. ;)

Found in the news this evening (8/28/12):

Ask the Dog Trainer: Understanding dog 'talk' (There are some highly beneficial tips in that article.)

Dog can't wait until ice cream truck arrives (Video) (Pretty funny, I bet it didn't take long for that pooch to learn that trick. He's no dummy!)

Family reunited with missing dog after three years! (These outrageous "lost dog reunited" stories never cease to amaze me.)

'Dog Shaming': The newest internet hit (Didn't know this had a name lol, I've seen a bit of it. Found this one on my desktop recently. Sometimes they are funny. Reminds me of that old saying, "There's a grain of truth in every joke.".)

Irving The Talking Dog has been a hit on America's Got Talent (Video) (His owner, this Todd fella, had one ingenious idea.)

Maverick is one lucky dog (What a true "lucky dog" story!)

Cheers,

Even Netflix has gone to The Dogs!

My wife and I save a bit of money each month by not having cable. We do this however, by having Apple TV (Thanks to Gary for this recommendation) and Netflix lol.

Speaking of Netflix... It has a truckload of Dog related shows, movies and "dogumentaries" haha. Many of them are extremely entertaining! I'll name just a few I've seen that are available:

National Geographic's SCIENCE OF DOGS - This is a super-cool short documentary.

The Cave of the Yellow Dog - Truly one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Good for the whole family.

Dogs Decoded: Nova - Another first rate documentary. You may have already seen it on PBS. You can actually watch it on YouTube as well, I've embedded it below.

The Best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog - One that you may or may not fancy, lots of potty humor, however, it's really funny! Most likely not for the whole fam, you've been warned. ;)

Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death - I don't care if these claymation funnies are for little kids. I just love Wallace and Gromit, they are so slap-stickin' fun. You can find some adult humor inside of the stories as well.

Best in Show - A "several customer" favorite, this movie is pretty darn amusing. It pokes fun at the dog show scene, which deserves it lol!

Wilfred - A very Dark Comedy... If you are OK with most vulgarity you should enjoy it lol. Harsh language and non-family-friendlyness aside, it is absolutely hilarious! Elijah Wood and Jason Gann make quite the comedic duo. We won't get me started on the Doggy Daycare episode though.

Take it easy,

-Grant
