Flash is a spunky little 8-month-old Labrador who came for his first visit this morning. He got right into the mix, tearing it up with Gordon left and right. He had a great attitude, and was happy to be here playing with the other pups--he hardly wanted to leave! I thought it was just hilarious that he was best buds with Gordon, and reminded me of this gem of a movie:
Savior of the Universe!

P.S. I heard a really funny one-liner dog joke today:
"How to handle stress like a dog:
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Then pee on it and walk away"
That cracked me up! It's a really humorous and ingenious way of reminding us all to live in the moment, and not let the stresses of life get to you. There are always more tennis balls to chase!
Every morning when I wake up, I look over to the corner of my room and see this-- Gordon sleeping, upside down and comfy as can be! Nancy tells me that this is pretty typical for huskies, and that Polo does the same thing--all cramped up in the corner. I found this funny collection of the weird ways dogs like to sleep--the pictures are great!
In the news-- a dog owner refuses to let his pups blindness slow either of them down. It's really touching to get a glimpse of the special relationships that people have with their pets-- I'm lucky to be able to see it every single day.
After Pudsey won Britain's Got Talent, we now have Olate Dogs competing in America's Got Talent (not to be outdone, of course). These pooches have some serious talent, and can do some really amazing tricks. And best of all? They are rescue pups.
Another great story--Fairy Dog Parents is a group that helps pet owners who have fallen on hard times, to enable them to keep their family members and lower the rates at which pets are being surrendered (which always goes up significantly during economic downturns).

First up is the Big Roll, where Bella and Gus were caught on film having a fun romp. Although he outweighs Bella by a bit, Gus always plays fair and Bella loves being able to just jump all over him!
No, that's not a glitch in the matrix, it's Jake, Red, and Finn! These beautiful boys seem like they could all be brothers!
From the Medium Roll we have Bogie and Sophie. Their action is so fast and furious that it's hard to keep the camera on it!
Upstairs was a ball time (or bone-time!) bonanza! All the pups had a great time chasing both the toys and each other. Look at little Charlie bouncing up and down, and Pearl and Lucy each running after the balls as fast as they could! Little Riley was in on the fun romp, too, with a quick pause with Dwayne and Tucker to sniff and be sniffed.

Barley and Phoebe have been staying overnight at The Fort. We scored a couple of great pictures of them cuddling up on Monday night. Too cute!

We also got a short clip of Duke and Jack's first night at The Fort, last night. These two were a crackup, it's like a regular-old-classic Slumber Party. Hahaha!
In other news, Fort Fido has an awesome new "Announcements" chalk board in the lobby. It was professionally made, by none other than, Handyman Matt Kanz... Just one of our many outstanding employees. The board looks absolutely great Matt, well done sir!
We had three really neat assessments today! All of them came from the same family. Here they are, oldest to youngest, the three amigos!
Ha! OK, not quite like those guys, but close!
Ruby is a twelve year old, eighteen pound, fawn & white colored, Chihuahua Mix.
Paco is a six year old, fifteen pound, white colored, Chihuahua Mix.
Last but certainly not least... Opie, is a three year old, fifteen pound, brown colored Chihuahua Mix.
Now these three dogs were a playful pack of their own. Each Chi Mix did awesome in the Little Roll. They got along with the other pack members very well and were even superb with people. This terrific trio was a pleasure to have at Fort Fido today. Ruby, Paco and Opie are most definitely welcome here anytime.
This morning we met two new pups. First up was six-month old Bolt the Chihuahua. Bolt is just adorable, with great white and tan markings and super soft ears. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the daycare, and watched other pups play curiously. I'm confident that with more exposure to other dogs and daycare that Bolt will start coming out of his shell a little more, and will be more confident to take the leap to playing hard
Next we had Lucy, a sweet one-year-old Labrador/Border Collie mix. Lucy had a great time, and knew exactly what she was at daycare to do--tear it up with other pups! She romped hard for most of the time that she was with us today, and we caught her on camera playing with Cayenne, the Viszla puppy. Also in the clip are Kona and Tikvah, having a nice romp.
Also in the clips from today, Morgan busted out in a big way this morning--having a romp with Cayenne--and Phoebe played with little Cayenne as well! She sure was a busy girl with all these buddies today.
