Super Stella and Too-Cute Toby!

We met two fun dogs this morning-- Stella, an incredibly sweet and sassy mixed breed, and Toby, a cool and confident little Mini Schnauzer. Though she entered with a little trepidation, as soon as she met Rain (a super-spunky Golden Retriever), Stella came right out of her shell. These two girls were instant best-buds (it's so great how dogs can make friends in a moment!), and had fun tearing it up the whole time that Stella was here. She did really well today, and we hope to see her back soon.

Toby is an incredibly cute little guy, I don't think that photo does him quite enough justice (I just love the long hair on his ears, he looks like a teddy bear!). Although Toby was nervous to see his owners go, he was cheered right back up by our buddy Miller, who enticed him to go for a romp, and almost got more than he bargained for!

It was great to see that both of our new pups made fast friends here, and had dogs of similar energy levels to keep them having a great time throughout their assessments. This really set a great tone for both dogs, who I'm sure went home tired tonight!

In other news, Taylor took a great picture of Louis and Lillie last night, all curled up on their beds. These two have been "boarding buddies" for a few days now, and make a cute little pair. I also caught a clip of Louis romping with Rain this morning, and wanted to post that for his out-of-town parents. I know it's nice to see that he's having a good time with us!

Today at the Fort...

Buzzette tried on one of Cortez's super cool hats. Not sure if she was too keen on it, though, haha! Maybe in a different color.

There was tons of action in the big roll, with yellow labs galore! We caught a great clip this morning of Labrador Red playing with his boxer-buddy Stella, along with (a little obliquely) Finn and his main squeeze Athena.

From the medium side, Tikvah and Chewy were playing  this morning, albeit at a little slower pace.  These two had a great rumble, and went on the play much harder in the afternoon, after waking up for a little bit. You've got to start every great workout with a warm-up (and I know that I don't like going all-out when I first get up, especially if it's early!).

We often hear stories about news articles reuniting pet and owner, but here is a touching one about a doggie article that helped to reunite a father and son who had not known each other for three decades. It really was a Christmas Miracle for this family.

Juno Working Out, and a Fort Fido Funny

Our friend John at Summit Strength and Conditioning brings his pup Juno to spend the day with us regularly. This lucky lady also gets to go to work with her dad from time to time and get a workout there as well! John sent us this clip of Juno on the treadmill--that's great exercise for a high energy breed like a Husky, and for the rest of us too ;-)

Xmas Pic Time & News!

We are getting really excited for one of our favorite times of the year... When the Fort Fido Dog Christmas Photos start pouring in! It's really fun to see what you guys come up with and it is much appreciated. We love seeing our canine pals in their Holiday Best. So please, if you get some time, send us in ( grant@fortfido.com ) a Holiday Themed photo of your pet. I look forward to posting them all up on the blog every year. Please note, if you aren't tech-savvy, or are low on time, just bring your pet in dressed up and we'll snap a quick photo in the lobby. Loyal Lewie

 

Meet Lewie! She, is a five year old, sixty-five pound, friendly, Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Lewie was in for her assessment early this morning. We had her tryout in the Big Roll where she did rather well for a first day. Lewie even busted out into a bit of play, which is always wonderful. This Chocolate Lab Gal, is good buddies with longtime Fort Fido Fans Gem & Monty... Heck, if she's cool with those two, then she's pretty much a shoe-in here. LOL! All joking aside, Lewie had a nice time at The Fort today and she is certainly welcome... Regardless of her connections. ;)

Short clips and a Happy happy Birthday!

Today was Miss Sophie Lynne's third birthday! I'm glad that we got the chance to celebrate with her today, and send her home with a fun "Birthday Ball." I captured a short clip of her having a little rumble with her best buddy Pearl. These two little ladies make a great pair!

And a big thanks to her mom Melody for the yummy treats she brought to share with all of Sophie's friends!

In other clips, big boys Samson and Gordon were tearing it up this morning! It's good to see that the pups spending the night here are incredibly comfortable, and don't get over-tired. And I know it must be fun to see the pup at play while you're away!

Everyone have a great weekend--don't let the gray skies get you down! It certainly wasn't holding my canine friends back any. :-D

P.S.-- I have recently come across some startling news about a canine parvovirus outbreak in the Puget Sound area. This disease can be deadly to dogs, and vaccination is highly recommended. Fort Fido requires the Distemper-Combo shot (which includes parvo immunity) for all daycare and boarding dogs. Please encourage all your friends and dog-owners that you know to get their pets vaccinated against this deadly disease!
